This will finally be the song where radio has had enough of her I think. Uneventfully and Birthday were kinda like warning shots I think, and the latter just got totally lucky to go as far as it did. But this time I just can't see radio sending a third song by her top ten that doesn't have any sales interest. I don't think this will do much better than TOY on CHR. So platinum singles have no sales interest? If that's the case, then DWYW had no business making the Top 10 either. Are you willing to accept that?

I think this is the label stepping, fortunately. Actually no. The reason why the wait has been so long is not because of Dark Horse, but because of a dispute between Katy and her label. Katy wanted TIHWD and the label wanted either of the other two. Katy won. Is there a source for that? All I know is there is a video of a fan asking Katy if "Legendary Lovers" will be a single, and with out a beat she says "it will be." Sounds to me like she wants that one. I think the wait for this single to be announced has much to do with research after "Birthday" under performing.

I'd rather International Smile over Legendary Lovers. :( Put me on the Double Rainbow bandwagon as well. That'd be my second choice after Walking On Air tbh

The blogosphere is going to have a field day with "all Japanesey" I honestly doubt the song is going to be big enough for them to have the chance. I can see an outside shot of this missing Top 20. What an abortion.

I hope this hits hard and fast, so once summer is over Legendary Lovers can see a release, and for all the Whiney fans, WOA can see a release in January.

The truth, it's probably going to be an uphill battle for all of these singles. None of them are standalone surefire hits
I do think "This Is How We Do" would have fared better than "Birthday" as the fourth summer single.

I love All of Prism tracks. I do think there were some bad choices in rushing Birthday with a very weak video while DH was still riding high. TIHWD is a fun track, it just does not stick with me and I think there will be no longevity on radio for it. It's really going to need a knock it out of the bark video to survive I think. I'm hoping for Legendary Lovers, which I think will smash during any season and I'm hoping it will have a gorgeous lush thought provoking video like Unconditionally gave us.

If I listen to this song twice in a row, it gets on my nerves, it's too repetitive and bland. I'm guessing the burn rate for this one will be abysmal, I never got tired of any KP song. Oh well, best of luck to my queen...

Birthday will forever remain my favorite PRISM track. You got bad taste GURL :) And that's ok. It's just the song I gravitate to the most if I'm going to start the PRISM album on my iPod. I always start with Birthday. Might retract to LL, never listen to Roar anymore, or Unconditionally, but the 1-2-3 punch of Dark Horse-TIHWD-International Smile is pretty great. And then I stop the cd of course. Unless I wanna listen to DR.

I think that this was the best choice. Sorry WOA stans, but I just don't see the song being that successful. It has a very similar vibe to Birthday, and I don't think its appropriate to release them as back to back singles.
And as with any Katy thread recently, some people need to get a grip. Yes, it looks like Katy's ace run is over, but you'd think that the album didn't even reach gold if you'd read some of these comments. She's has two smashes and two moderate hits as well as a successful album and tour. It isn't 5 consecutive number ones, but that standard is unsustainable. Prism has been a huge success.

Still baffled by how everyone's turning on this. I know there were a lot of people who wanted Walking on Air, but the song to resent over that is Birthday (which has no business being a single), not this. I seem to recall EVERYONE thinking this song screamed SINGLE when the album first came out.
And while I can't tell you what songs to like or dislike, this one, to me, comes off like Katy Perry at her Katy Perry-ist. I can't see liking the majority of her singles but being bothered by the lyrical content or song structure on this one.
And this song deserves to smash for the way she introduced the lyric video alone. Absolutely love this girl:
To learn the lyrics to my new song, THIS IS HOW WE DO, simply watch the graphically enhanced word by word recount of this certified club banger, and you too will know all the words! -The REAL words! Not just what you thought I said, but what I actually said! Impress your friends, and keep your karaoke game on point. Watching this high tech video on a daily basis will ensure you will be straight stuntin' without the painful side effects of frontin'. Bask in the neon glow and airbrushed aura of this lyric video. It's guaranteed to keep your party trill. ???? (link underneath my profile pic)

People are just jealous and presse.d. It's funny to watch. No one is jealous and pressed. As a non-delusional Katy Perry fan, it's embarrassing that she is releasing this as a single to a wider audience than those who already heard it on her album. Every time I hear her say "yo!" or "REESPECT!", I cringe with embarrassment and my neck gets whiplash making sure all the windows and doors are closed so nobody heard me voluntarily listening to it. The song isn't a bad song but it so doesn't suit her and she CAN'T pull it off. It's just so incredibly lame and cheesy, and not the fun kind of cheesy that Last Friday Night was. No, this is Celine Dion attempting to rap while wearing mom jeans, granny panties, a fanny pack and a clear visor while ordering products advertised on tv over the phone cheesy. Remember Treat Her Like A Lady? This is cheesier and MORE embarrassing than that was.

I can't see liking the majority of her singles but being bothered by the lyrical content or song structure on this one. I need to disagree with this. TIHWD sounds more like a song left on one of Ke$ha's albums' editing room floor. It's almost spoken-word, she sounds pretty bored when singing it, there's no super-catchy part (please don't tell me "it's no big deal" is gonna make people buy it), the shout-out part and the "bring the beat back" are corny as hell. Unless a huge club remix comes out, I'd never play it on a party, it's more suitable for the Mean Girls Soundtrack. The only viable comparison is lyrics, but you won't expect any Pop song to have deeper lyrics, unless it's a ballad. TIHWD can't be compared to Katy at her bubblegum-pop best (Teenage Dream, TGIF, Hummingbird Heartbeat, International Smile, Birthday), which is what defines her for most people. This is not the sound she's known for, common sense-wise. Can it smash? Maybe. But I've never supported this song, got bothered by it on the first listen and couldn't change up my mind since then, as hard as I'd try, because I knew this moment (no pun intended) would come sooner or later. But like I said, I hope this pays off, especially if it was her choice, otherwise Capitol will stop considering her say on future singles.

This should at least get close to the top 10 just because it's Katy Perry. Beyond that, I don't really know. I could see it smashing, but I'm not betting on it. Personally, I think it's fine, but I wouldn't have chosen it as the next single. Unless it's a total flop, though, they will release a sixth single. They'll definitely want a single out during the holiday season.

I seem to recall EVERYONE thinking this song screamed SINGLE when the album first came out. I thought this was atrocious upon first listen, but this statement is totally true. I remember a lot of people wanted this as a single when the album was first released. I was always team WOA, as it's probably my favorite song she's ever done, though. The only reason I can think of as to why people have changed their tune is because they expected "Birthday" to make a bigger impact on the charts, and at this point the chances of it even performing on the same level as "Birthday" are pretty bleak.

Pretty much.
This. If Birthday didn't smash, there's no reason this will. From the same bank of songs. WOA please.

Birthday will forever remain my favorite PRISM track. Birthday would've been a H100 Top 10 single if: release had been delayed 1 month - DH was far too high (plus Roar recurrent play still high) and if a short version of the video had been released for better streaming points. Remember, the lyric video for Birthday racked up quite a few streams upon the radio release. TIHWD is just kind of boring - the remixes will be interesting.

Who thought it was a good idea to release this as a single now? I don't hate this but it's my least favorite single from "PRISM". I think WOA would have been the best choice for now since 90's influenced dance songs are doing really well worldwide at the moment. *shrugs* The label should discount this immediately and get those remixes done/ready sooner than later.
