Lmao everything Max said is so true.
Releasing "Birthday" and then this will be a mistake, I'm sure. "Walking On Air", "Legendary Lovers", or anything else on the album would make a better single choice than this.

I think this a good choice for late summer, but would have prefered "Legendary Lovers" or "Walking On Air".

Although I am too prefer WOA as the 5th single, I assume that most of you guys would change your opinion after the official video (if it's as good as my awesome DARK HORSE video)
I started to enjoy the song like the first time I heard it (I mean it's my 2nd favorite song off the album but burn out after 3 months) after the concert performance. it's quite good actually!

People are just jealous and presse.d. It's funny to watch. Like anyone would be pressed or jealous about not being able claim TIHWD in their favorite artist's catalogue. That's a luxury, dahhling. Maybe you meant to express people's embarrassement instead.

Lmao at some of you guys and the "embarrassing" comments. Not every pop song has to have brilliant lyrics to be successful. Katy is known for fun, pop jams and this is another one to add to the collection. The general public isn't going to nitpick a word or two if they like the melody and think it's catchy.
I'm not convinced this will be a smash, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is either. I think this is just as good (if not better) than LFN, and that was a pretty big 5th single. This is just lacking the same momentum from that era, but anything's possible. I'd be content with another top 10.

Yeah I don't really think its lyrics are the issue by any means. People eat up Katy being camp/silly/fun. I just simply don't think it is that good of a song especially coming after Birthday that "underperformed" (for her standards). If that makes me a jealous pressed hater, so be it. Still hope the album gets a sixth single and one of my favs from it!

People are just jealous and presse.d. It's funny to watch. No one is jealous and pressed. As a non-delusional Katy Perry fan, it's embarrassing that she is releasing this as a single to a wider audience than those who already heard it on her album. Every time I hear her say "yo!" or "REESPECT!", I cringe with embarrassment and my neck gets whiplash making sure all the windows and doors are closed so nobody heard me voluntarily listening to it. The song isn't a bad song but it so doesn't suit her and she CAN'T pull it off. It's just so incredibly lame and cheesy, and not the fun kind of cheesy that Last Friday Night was. No, this is Celine Dion attempting to rap while wearing mom jeans, granny panties, a fanny pack and a clear visor while ordering products advertised on tv over the phone cheesy. Remember Treat Her Like A Lady? This is cheesier and MORE embarrassing than that was. I feel completely the same. Can you imagine this coming on in a club? Straight up embarrassing. And it also makes Katy Perry seem older and out of touch.

Right this song is something that Ke$ha would have left on Animal and me and my college friends would have been embarrassed to listen to while playing beer pong like I can't

i really hope this flops so that Capitol would finally understand that they should NOT listen to Katy anymore when it comes to single releases !!!!

1.7M views on her Vevo channel so far for the lyric video. Is it a lot?
Also, the lyric video for Birthday has 11M MORE views than the official music video, that's interesting.

Whether it is her decision or not, it's the third most single-worthy song on the album. Katy calls the shots whether you want to believe me or not. She is not a puppet like some would like to think. Who chose Unconditionally? Katy. Who chose Dark Horse? Neither Katy or the label, the GP did. Who chose Birthday? Katy. And who is choosing TIHWD? again, Katy. But go ahead and believe what you want to. That being said, I agree with you on this being a single-worthy choice. I'm sure LL will be next and hopefully last. If she chooses This Moment, then you all will have MY freakout moment, cuz that's truly the worst song on the album. The label wants Ghost, btw. I just don't think the era will last that long to see a final ballad after LL if this does poorly. We'll see.

Not a fan of this song. The talking part is really bad (similar with Birthday video). Just imagine California Gurls with Katy replacing the Snoop Dogg part. It's hilarious, but not in a good way. I know that she is a funny person and does not like to take things seriously, but TIHWD sounds forced and my feeling is that she tried too hard this time.

Also, the lyric video for Birthday has 11M MORE views than the official music video, that's interesting. That's because the video to "Birthday" is extremely long and nobody wants to watch that. I mean, it was a cool idea and all, but there also should have been a shortened version of the video that was the same length of the song.

Im of the belief the video killed any chance birthday had of catching on. Had Katy given us a boobtastic video for Birthday, it probably would've peaked 10 positions higher on the HOT 100.

Tbh, I'd rather have had the lyric video of Birthday as the official.

And I'm of the belief that iTunes promo is imperative for late-era singles. Birthday had a small little thumbnail under the AMA's promo spot, and it shot up to #13. It was only up for 5 days. So exposure is key.

That aside, this not getting a single spin on radio so far despite the lyric video dropping and the adds date being tomorrow is not a very good sign.
