My Alt station played Say Something between Metallica and Tool. Ouch Not Alternative Metallica Definitely Not Alternative A Great Big World Alternative, But Overrated Tool That's some station you have down there They can all be considered Alternative in an extremely broad definition. The Wanted is a straight-up boy band. Why not play "Selfie" and N'Sync while you're at it?

Alternative, But Overrated Tool YOU TAKE THAT BACK! It's not that I dislike Tool, I just dislike the amount of praise they get for just about everything. For example, a guy at work was going on about how Tool aren't only musically brilliant but they also have "hands down the greatest lyrics ever." And there I was, thinking to myself, like yeah "YOU MUSTA BEEN HIGH, MUST BEEN HIGH, HIGH, HIGH, HIGH, MUSTA BEEN HIGH" is quite the lyrical masterpiece alright

"Hooker With a Penis" has some pretty nice lines. "The Grudge", I like that one. "Aenema" is a good Fuck you to Hollywood, "Stinkfist" is about desensitization and fisting, "The Patient" and "Parabola" are a bit too uplifting for me, but w/e.

My point here though, is that Tool are put on a sky-high pedestal by so many people that I just can't comprehend. The lyric example is just one little part of it. I just don't think I'll ever connect with Tool, and frankly I don't view that as a loss by any means

It's not bad, but I don't know why it's storming right out of the gate. Maybe Alt is jealous of Active?

All it needs on active is like 20 spins to get rolling though I don't know though, it's another one of those "in-betweeners" that we're getting quite a few of lately in Canada, a la Death From Above, July Talk, and "Rollin" by Current Swell. Maybe Canadian alternative rock is the "Smells Like Teen Spirit" of the mid 2010s...the music that will reunite the families formats.

I can already see it now. 19 year old B+ average English lit major at a middle-of-the-road university, going to the half coffee house/half bar in his skinny jeans, unnecessarily large glasses and old school headphones, walking down the street loudly singing "I..................STAND AH LOANNNNNNNNNNNN"

He hated all of the music Pen and I listened to and only listened to indie stuff. This was back in 2006, so indie wasn't really huge in the mainstream yet. I remember him getting mad because we let him know that Regina Spektor and The Decemberists were getting adds at radio.

Meant to post this a couple days ago, but: Miles better than "Get Out the Way". I guess I like it more after 1 listen than I liked "Get Out The Way" after 1 listen. However, I've grown to like "Get Out The Way" quite a bit. I donno, being a Mother Mother fan requires an extremely open mind. They experiment with alot of different styles, and they often employ odd lyrics as well as odd compositions. I've liked pretty much all of their singles at least a bit, but I'll admit most of them were growers which initially either creeped me out or just left me questioning what the hell I had just listened to.

"Tell Me Baby" is the only single from Stadium Arcadium I don't listen to anymore. I barely remember it other than the first part of the chorus haha

Then there's this obscure alternative station at my work I usually put on in the evening after all the managers leave that plays "Hump De Bump" all the time lol.

I know I ragged on it earlier, but you gotta give The Bridge a try. Its commercial breaks are nearly nonexistent and there's always a few "wow, I wasn't expecting to hear that" songs.

Damn...I really like the station's playlist though.

So wait...you point out Nickelback charting on Alt, but not this? 419 47 SARAH MCLACHLAN In Your Shoes 51 4 47 0 I guess it is relatively Alt-friendly compared to most of her recent material.

Hey Rosetta! just released a video for their second single from Second Sight, "Soft Offering (For the Oft Suffering)." It was shot in my hometown of Fogo Island, where they did an arts residency for a few months! So cool!

How is their album? The first single took some time to grow on me. I have their first album on vinyl but I only listened to it in full a few times. Otherwise I picked songs here and there to latch on to. They're all good.

I actually haven't been giving a lot of attention to them so far, despite their residency on Fogo Island and the fact that I know the drummer, Phil. I'll let you know when I do, though.
