#21 Get Lucky Daft Punk featuring Pharrell Williams
This song helped create the resonance of 2013, a rebirth of musical originality and being different and doing your own thing than just whats hot. A infusion of disco, electro, funk, pop, r&b, jazz and whatever else you can think of. End of the motherfucking day just amazing record and for me even better than "Blurred Lines" which got the most press.
My song of that spring/summer

#20 Incredible Celine Dion featuring Ne-Yo
I just love the purity and vocals in this ballad, there is something rather charming about this duet that maybe if it was someone other than Queen Celine i would've ignored. One of those songs that really grows on you but it has that anthem like vibe of Alicia Keys but with better vocals.
I loved the singles of Celine's album and loved roughly 50% of the album the rest was okay, not the best or worst from the queen but still a good record.

#19 Life Round Here James Blake
The third James Blake single that makes the chart, which means only one is higher than this gem. I listened to this one day on the way back from work in the middle of night and it just soothed my soul, it was rather crazy day. I love his music because it makes you think, it entertains you and its alike a blank canvass where you can take what he is saying and apply it to your own life.
His lyrics are vague enough but yet deeper than most, he is one of the most incredible artists we have today. The song is a fusion of all types of music, there is soul, blues and electropop elements all fit in with each other so perfect like. i'm a sucker for this type of blending.

#18 The Worst Jhene Aiko
Okay I cheated slightly, although the video was released in 2013 the song was officially released in January 2014, however since i fell in love with it in 2013, I broke my own rules, sue me? fuck.
I love this song its hazy urban quiet storm epicness, how more people didn't end up blowing this up is beyond me! She made a video of being driven to kill a man, hey we can all relate honey!
A moderate hit but far less than what the quality of the song indicates to me anyways. I'm dying for more Jhene and I heard she is previewing a new song today? gotta go!

17 Treasure Bruno Mars
A upbeat "treasure" from Bruno to me! a fun, easy breezy song that reminds me of Michael Jackson from back in the days. I love the upbeat , giddy feels that its giving me. Bruno is one of my favorite new acts out now and this song got heavy play then and now.
A pop, disco, r&B song that is very genre fluid and heavy on a melody
i love his entire album.

#16 It Won't Stop Sevyn Streeter featuring Chris Brown
I have to admit i have my eye out for this girl, so far liking her musical output and her EP's. Can't wait for her full length album and kinda wish this gorgeous song was her lead single of a full album. A urban hit and a strong mid tempo ballad that reminds me of a mix of Aaliyah and Kelly Rowland.
Sevyn is a accomplished songwriter and it shows in this song, I think she can have major success one day on the urban formats and I patiently wait for more music from her in the future.
A beautiful ballad, beautiful hook and a nice production

#15 Royals Lorde.
Look bitches, Lorde wasnt f**king around in 2013. She came seriously and correct and stirred up the industry with some really good material. This song was MASSIVE and she came out nowhere for me. It took me some time to get used to her but once I did watch out.
A banging, thumping beat, good lyrics and a strong haunting vibe that stays with you and makes you want to repeat.
Lorde is the truth, her album is the s**t, this song is hot and TENNIS COURT is divine.

#14 All of Me John Legend
Oh what a treat he served us, this song went on to become one of those slow growing massive songs that has captured everyone. A powerful, simple and classy ballad, he really used his instrument to get a hit and I love that.
John Legend is just pure class and I respect his artistry and I love him for this emotional ballad that feeds the soul
speaking of feeding, time for KFC saturdays and girl need to eat!
13 songs to go!

#13 All The Way Home Tamar Braxton
"Damn, where the hell are my keys I just wanna leave, Get in my car, and Imma just drive, All night Turn off my phone, radio on, and drive So I'm just
Speeding down the road, and my head out of control 'Cause I'm thinking about you all the way home Got a long way to ride and I can’t even deny I've been thinking about you all the way home"
YASS TAMAR! a beautiful, thought provoking love song so relatable to all of us. She really sings the hell out of this song and I love just the productional elements because it added that anthem feel to a otherwise tried and done ballad. The highlight of the song is the emotional connection that Tamar gives us, she pours her heart out on this and I love
SING MAMA SING
The intro alone captures you to listen further.

#12 Wrecking Ball Miley Cyrus
Lawd if you told me that ANY chart of mine would have Miley Cyrus once, let alone 3 times before this album, i would've cussed you out. I didn't hate Miley, but she never appealed to me musically until BANGERZ done changed that.
Wrecking Ball is pure masterclass on ballad making, singing to the best of your ability and make it sound good. Above all good lyrics and well composed, Miley became a full artist to me in the studio because she made her wishes known in what music direction she wanted for herself. Now if we can fix her messy ass on stage she be perfect!
The video wasnt my cup of tea but I didn't see the hysteria others did, it was just okay and some parts unneccesary but not a big deal. A very strong song off a very good album.

YASS now I get to talk about songs I LOVE, LOVE LOVE, LOVE!
#11 How Many Drinks (remix) Miguel featuring Kendrick Lamar
Great singing, great rapping and hot beat, a urban bop of the highest order. It's one of those songs that make me feel sexy and you know i love to feel on myself! I bop like its going out fo style, as their voices are layered over that beat.
Miguel is EVERYTHING to me and now so is Kendrick Lamar can be added to that spot.
2012-2013 they slayed the musical scene.

#10 Retrograde James Blake
How many times do I need to sit on a soapbox and tell y'all he is the motherfucking truth? A moody vibe over his lush vocals is like god opening up the gates to heaven early! The man is OOZING soul, soul feeds my soul and he is literally perfect with this song, now flaws, all truths
The production just adds to the mystique, he might not be for everybody but he was made for me! Amazing song by a amazing vocalist

God knows I never meant to hurt you I never meant to break your heart, your heart, babe God knows I never meant to turn you on, turn you out Never meant to take it that far, that far, babe God knows I never meant to hurt you, hurt you, hurt you, hurt you, hurt you, hurt you
#9 Hurt You Toni Braxton and Babyface
What can I say about this ballad that is so show stopping not sure where to start? I love Toni Braxton and Babyface alone, together their voices is like musical magic. Add a well written and produced song about drama, heartbreak, cheating and you got a winner! I felt every word they sang.
This song is the biggest riser in my playlist the more time passes the more it moves up and it's so good to have Toni Braxton in a more mature sound since back in the 90's, she dropped the whole fitting in and is now doing her.
HALLELUJAH!

#8 Latch Disclosure featuring SAM SMITH
Another musical discovery for me is SAM SMITH, we going to capitalize his name because he is earning it. Love that British soul invasion that is taking root, I just wish the other's who are doing soul who reside in the United States get their due too and partake in the success but that's a rant for another place another day!
Dance music can be heavenly when done right in a non generic way and this is the best example of it in 2013 in my opinion. The production was very interesting and Sam Smith showed you can actually sing over a dance beat, and even when his voice was digitized it enhanced the song and wasn't used to be the focal point.
A incredible song that you can listen to, dance to, hell u can fuck to it too ;)

Latch is great. Hurt You is good but not one of my favorites on the duet album. IMO, they did a horrible job with the singles considering they have songs like "Roller Coaster", "Sweat" and "Heart Attack" that should have led the album campaign.

#7 Fire We Make Alicia Keys featuring Maxwell
Isn't Maxwell so pretty? lawwwd. My favorite song of Alicia's last album, a sexy and steaming hot baby making ballad. I love how their voices blend and how they play of each other in the song, its just gorgeous music.
Even the video is stunning in a old school classy way, I love Maxwell and how it pierces into your heart, not sure how Alicia was able to herself from ripping off all his clothes,
They both look and sound amazing, and till this day one of my favorites from 2013.

#6 PrimeTime Janelle Monae feat Miguel
Another boy-girl collaboration fit for the heavens, this is what happens when you combine to phenomenal musical entities and combine them in 1 song. Musical perfection, vocal supremeness, a hot mid tempo ballad that is dripping in soul.
It has a melody that will hook and reel you in and production wise it keeps the pace of the song going. Janelle turned this song inside out with a deft touch. Miguel was the cherry on top. Love the video too. Simple, nice colors and kept the focus on the song.
I actually love this song more today than when it first came out.
