This album is incredible. I never thought she would top Kiss, this completely surpassed my expectations. I've been listening a little bit here and there, but I waited til I received the Japanese copy before I gave it a full, proper listen. What a rollercoaster of e•mo•tions: so many highs, so many perfect melodies, so many perfect vocal moments. Carly is truly one of a kind, we need people like her who can deliver these kind of perfect records. She really kept the whole sound very cohesive and kept the 80s-inspired theme throughout. No hate on Taylor, I love 1989, but she did not make a proper 80s-inspired record like she initially insinuated she did. 'Style' was the only song I thought had 80s vibes, but with this album every track is 80s-influenced in some way. I could sit here and talk all day about how the production on this is just right. Incredible record. On a pop high right now.

The highlights for me after a few listens are "When I Needed You", "Your Type", "Making The Most Of The Night", "I Didn't Just Come Here To Dance", "Warm Blood" and "Run Away With Me". I think it's a stronger record than Kiss.

The album is really good. The only song that I don't really use is All That. What do you have against high quality?!

I respect your opinion, Draggy. I live for that 80's, Prince baby-making type jam.

I'm not as gushy as most of you are about this album. It sounds exactly like KISS, but not as good. IRLY remains the best on the album. But I've only listened once, so def will give it another listen. But it's very samey.

I'm sorry, but...no. This does not sound like a worse KISS.
Keep listening.

Definitely a huge step up from Kiss, and I never thought I'd say that. You can just tell when you hear the opening sax on Run Away With Me that this album is going to be incredible journey *fighting back tears of joy* lol. I'm trying not to overplay it, I want this pop high to last. I've been so bored with pop in general, so when Carly goes and makes an album like this I just get all weak and stuff. I can't go into detail about each song yet because I'm still processing everything, but there is such a brilliance to When I Needed You - those "you-ooh-ooh-ooh"s in the chorus are EVERYTHING. I can tell Making The Most Of The Night is a Sia co-write, I can hear her influence on the way she sings "making the most of the night" - very Chandelier-ish. Boy Problems is such a jam, love driving around blasting that song. Perfect summer song. All That still continues to amaze me, the last 2 choruses with all the synthy, orchestral embellishments is so heavenly.

By now I have so many eggs on my face you could make an omelet, lol. This album is really good. I've been listening to it everyday at the gym. There are a couple duds towards the end somewhere, but overall it's terrific. It's a great gym listening experience.

I've been basking in this perfection for a week now.
Making the Most of the Night does Years & Years better than they do it themselves. Run Away With Me is FLAWLESS. LA Hallucinations is amazing.
It's simultaneously instant album and a grower. World better appreciate ha and not just the basics they have been.

Carly Rae is a modern day Debbie Gibson, imo. I can totally see Carly singing songs like Foolish Beat and Shake Your Love. And I can totally see Debbie Gibson singing Boy Problems and IRLY. :)

The album has surpassed expectations. Wow. On a sidenote, the Bleachers remix of "I Really Like You" is amazing, too.

Runaway has to become a hit cause this bitch has so many songs to be future singles that I need her to pull a Fergie and drop around 6-7 singles from this record

Dear god. What did we do to earn this aural masterpiece?
I've had this for a day and I haven't even listened to the last couple bonus tracks yet because I keep going back to repeat all the others.
Early favs are "Run Away With Me", "LA Hallucinations", "Warm Blood", "Let's Get Lost", "Gimme Love", "Your Type" and "When I Needed You". All are 10/10 or greater.
I could give a killer lapdance with "All That" playing in the background.

This board has horrible taste. There should be 56 pages expounding the gospel of this album by now. Bye, I'm going to Popjustice.

Okay so after living with this for a couple days I am ready to bestow some preliminary raetings. (Ranking these would be too hard.)
01. "Run Away With Me" — 11/10 What the fuck even is this? God just blew his load into my eardrums. First of all, I am a huge fan of sax in pop songs so this is bae from the first note. And while everything here is flawless, I live for the 'yeaahh yea-yeaahh' harmonizing with the sax she does near the end. So good.
02. "Emotion" — 8/10 The first verse says 'skip me!' but then the chorus hits and it's all uphill from there.
03. "I Really Like You" — 7/10 But the verses are the strong point here. The chorus is annoying but I'll sit through it to get to the next verse.
04. "Gimme Love" — 10/10 That chorus. You could put it on a 10 minute loop and I still would not get sick of it. This is my theme song.
05. "All That" — 8/10 I didn't care for this at first, but it's much better in the context of the album. This makes me want to slow dance with bae and feel him up like we're at a middle school dance.
06. "Boy Problems" — 5/10 Sounds like a Kiss Me Once reject. Can Sia go away already?
07. "Making The Most Of The Night" — 6/10 This is nice enough but not remarkable. While it's so crazy and all over the place, it's also kind of just there.
08. "Your Type" — 10/10 'I miss you, I mean it, I tried not to feel it, but I can't get you out of my head.' CRYS. My theme song.
09. "Let's Get Lost" — 10/10 This is so infectious, like "Alright" and "Escapade" had a baby. Now this is my theme song. The intro and outro though, LOL.
10. "LA Hallucinations" — 11/10 Fuck yes. MY THEME SONG. 'There's a little black hole in my golden cup, so you pour and I'll say stop,' is me af.
11. "Warm Blood" — 12/10 This is so sexy and too real. I feel this shit in so many ways. I would quote a lyric but the whole song is my life. That throbbing bass... Even after 25+ repeat listens I am not even close to being sick of this. The crown jewel of this album. Oh, and my theme song.
12. "When I Needed You" — 9/10 I don't have anything in particular to say about this jam so let me just say: Carly Slae Godsend.
13. "Black Heart" — 3/10 Sounds like an X reject. Just no.
14. "I Didn't Just Come Here To Dance" — 11/10 'No! No no no no! No no no!' But so much yes. This is what Kylie should be releasing right now if she had any sense.
15. "Favourite Colour" — 6/10 That 'hold on now,' is fucking annoying when all I want to do is listen to "Dance" again. But overall, this is neither here nor there. On to the next one. Somebody call the waitress. Baby I'm a boss, I don't know what they do. I don't get dropped, I drop the label. World can't hold me, too much ambition. Always knew it'd be like this when I was in the kitchen.
16. "Never Get To Hold You" — 7/10 This is cute but the album is running long and too slow at this point. This at least has a memorable chorus, tho.
17. "Love Again" — 7/10 This album's "Fine"; just fine. It's a cute upbeat way to end the album.
I could have done without the bonus tracks save for "Dance", which is worth its 3:40 in gold. Either way, this album has come out of nowhere and made me a Carly Raelien. While I still can't stand "Call Me Maybe", I'll have to listen to Kiss as soon as I can stop playing this one.

I just did a podcast where we brought up a few songs we liked and I had to bring up how great it is that she just sings the sax part in the final chorus. So good. [2] Is it August 21 yet, though?

My Carly Rae stan collection is growing Still waiting for the Japanese edition of Tug Of War, plus the US editions of E•MO•TION. I was already a pretty big fan, but this new era has pushed her into permanent stanzone. I still can't stop going on about how incredible the new album is. :'( Debating if I wanna splurge on the standard US edition of Kiss with the teal/blue cover and the Call Me Maybe single.
