I always thought of Hole as a female fronted grunge group, which in it's peak, was more popular with the alternative crowd than active. I feel Pretty Reckless are more so a straight up hard rock group with a female singer and classic rock sensibilities. The reason this is doing as well as it is on Alt is, in my opinion, the positive reception it's been receiving from the pop-leaning crowd that tend to influence Alt stations playlists. For example, "One Minute More" saw a resurgence on the Alt chart after it was pushed to Pop. Plus "Heaven Knows" was a hot track that sold well on iTunes, which Alt tends to pay attention to more so than Active does. As I've mentioned before, it has the exact same drum beat as "Do I Wanna Know?" and that's the #1 Alt song of the year. In any other era this would be a top 10 Alt hit. Having the same drumbeat as "Do I Wanna Know?" does not make "Heaven Knows" more so an Alt song than an Active song. Sure, it would've went Top 10 on both charts anytime between 1991-2011, but so did a lot of other hard rock songs.

I'm also not buying the Hole comparison for the Pretty Reckloss, and agree with Devin's classification of the genres of the two bands. Although Pipa is right that this would've easily been a top 10 alt hit a few years back.
I still think they're much more active-friendly, as I get more of an "80s rock vibe" than a "90s alternative vibe" from them.

Pretty Reckless - "Heaven Knows" is straight out anthem rock with gangstyle vocals. Think Every Def Leppard song from 80s and classics like Cherry Pie, Youth Gone Wild, Rock N Roll All Night, Cum On Feel The Noize, etc... the best rock ever. I'm glad it went straight to number one on Active, but still surprised as f**k it even charted on Alt Rock.

And while that's a hard-hitting, heavy song, guess what? She still did well on Alt too. Of course, there's no way she'd go top 10 on Alt today...

I hope the band isn't checking the comments on it's own FB page, much less the various rock news sites out there. The reaction to this song is pretty negative across the board.

You can't be too surprised.
Now if this actually goes Top 40 on Pop, then...

Pipa
I'm glad you pointed that out. Also went straight to number 1 on Pop for 8 weeks. In a better Music era; Pretty Reckless would have gone to number one on the pop charts too.
BTW, Joan's newest single "Any Weather" hit top 30 on mainstream. At least I think I rememebr seeing it on the charts a few weeks?

I think fans were clearly looking forward to something more in the vein of what the band typically produces. Myself included...though parts of the song are starting to grow on me (but not that chorus). It's moving up the chart, so it's probably a moot point for the band/label.

Top 30 on Active: 0 26 SIXX A.M. Gotta Get It Right 329 0 329 1.413 Damn wasn't expecting that. I know Sixx:AM has had their fair share of hits on Active, but I didn't think they would blast this high right out of the gate.

This sounds like something that woulda been a moderate Hot AC hit and an active flop 7 years ago. That fact that active is eating this up tells you all you need to know about its search for something to make it relevant again.

I was a Huge Motley Crue fan in the 80's, soI hope anything Crue related: in this case Sixx A.M, goes top 10. I know you guys don't look at this chart, but Joan jett - Any Weather went top 30 here. It's really the only list where classic rockers chart. It's not mainstream(my bad) it's just titled Rock chart. www.americasmusiccharts.com/index.cgi?fmt=R5&rtmref=americasmusicchartsYou can see Sixx A.M. debut at #16 on this chart as well as new music from Telsa, Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, Tom Petty and Pretty Reckless regains the top spot. It's been #1 for about 10 or so nonconsecutive weeks.

Seems like everyone was like YAY NEW SIXX AM and it flew up the chart and then they all heard the song and were like UGH NEW SIXX AM so it bombed.

#11 is not exactly a flop. It just missed the TOP 10. It drops off big because of their new song. Anyway, It should still make it onto the TOP 100 Active Rock songs of 2014. back in the day makining onto the Top 100 of the year meant your song goes classic.
