Looks like Lorde's next single will be the lead single from the Mockingjay soundtrack. "Yellow Flicker Beat" Depending on what it sounds like, I can see this performing in line with "Atlas" from the Catching Fire soundtrack.

alright, we'll be lorde free for maybe a year ..... but seriously, this probably won't do much. Tennis Court didn't fare well and my guess is Alternative is a little burned out from Lorde after 4 singles. So she'll have to wait until her next album to make huge waves on the format again.

The National, Interpol, Modest Mouse, The Killers, Death Cab For Cutie, Bon Iver, Neutral Milk Hotel, Manchester Orchestra, later Brand New, Elliott Smith (RIP), Arcade Fire, The Antlers, The Wrens and Pavement.

I'd actually be OK with that. A lot of indie rock I can end up getting behind. It's indie pop that gets on my nerves.

And The Wrens and Pavement and NMH broke up. But still, there's plenty of good indie. It's just not popular. Look at The Strokes. They blew up and now that indie is in they are out.

Everyone started out loving The Strokes and grew to hate them. I did the opposite.

Like you, it wasn't until "Heart in a Cage" that I started to love them and their previous material.

They have and would play a majority of that list. Do any of those have charting histories on AAA?

I hear "Top Notch" by Manchester Orchestra on my Alt station a lot even though it didn't do much on the chart. I really think it should get pushed to Active. But yeah, I'm all for more National, Death Cab, Arcade, etc. I'd also add Dinosaur Jr, Far, Fair To Midland, Motion City Soundtrack, Kasabian, Yuna, Beirut, Bright Eyes, and Lights to that list.

I think this should keep some momentum for her sophomore album. It's pretty much happened with every Hunger Games Trilogy song: Taylor Swift with "Eyes Open" and Red Coldplay with "Atlas" and Ghost Stories
I'm guessing Lorde's next.

I don't think so - I think we're all in a sort of Lorde burnout phase. I don't see this recreating the success of "Atlas", even - I'd expect some sort of 30s peak.

I could see it doing well on pop, obviously depending on the sound and how well it's promoted. I think Lorde's involvement in this soundtrack has been a pretty big deal for her so it could be a heavily promoted single with the intention of it being a big hit to help promote the soundtrack and whenever her next album comes out.

I think Pop isn't in Lorde burnout mode rn, so it could do well for her there.
