Any word on Sarah Buxton's CD release? I know Lyric Street is famous for waiting on 'big' hits before releasing CDs but considering where she's at on the charts, it would look promising enough to at least set a potential release date. I'm sure if it climbs a little higher they'll announce something, and if they give up on this soon I hope they release another single, they seem to be trying to make her work.

I have a feeling sometime in February there'll be a Sarah Buxton release. Her single looks pretty strong at this moment.

Taylor Swift Shatters Billboard Record for Longest-Charting Album of This Century
Taylor Swift enters the history books this week, claiming the Billboard record for the longest charting album of this century.
Released in October of 2006, Taylor’s self-titled debut CD now spends its 157th week on Billboard's Top 200 albums chart, more weeks on the chart than any album this decade, surpassing the record previously held by Nickelback. Taylor also holds the Billboard record for most Top 10 debuts in a calendar year, and is the only solo female act in the 44-year history of the Billboard Country Chart to score five Top 10 singles from a debut album. Taylor holds the Billboard record for the longest-charting female Country star in the Nielsen SoundScan era, and is also the only Country artist in history to have a #1 single on Billboard's Nielsen BDS Hot 100 Airplay chart (which incorporates airplay from all formats).
Also this week, with Big Machine Records’ release of the CD/DVD Fearless Platinum Edition, Taylor locked down five of the Top 10 singles positions on iTunes' all-genre singles chart, as well as seven of iTunes' Top 10 Country singles, including the entire Top 6. Fearless, named 2009's Album of the Year by the Academy of Country Music, was originally released in November of 2008. Now quadruple-platinum in the US, Fearless has earned Gold or Platinum status in 16 countries spanning five continents and has spent more weeks in the #1 position atop Billboard's Top 200 all-genre CD sales chart than any other album this decade.
This Saturday, November 7th, Taylor is set to host Saturday Night Live (NBC), and will also serve as the show's musical guest that evening. Taylor joins a small number of artists who have pulled double duty on the show, a group that includes Justin Timberlake, Sting and Janet Jackson. The last time a female country artist was tapped to both host and perform was Dolly Parton, twenty years ago. Taylor will appear tonight, November 2nd, on NBC's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and is set to perform on the CMA Awards on ABC on November 11th.
Taylor is nominated for four CMA Awards this year, and with six nominations is the top nominee for the 2009 American Music Awards.

King George picks Queen Reba for 2010 touring mateTwo of country music's royalty will tour for the first time in their illustrious careers. It may sound remarkable, but George Strait and Reba McEntire have never shared the stage for consecutive dates. In 2010, that will change. The superstar acts performed together for the first time in many years for a sold-out crowd at the Cowboys Stadium inaugural event in Dallas. Selling out in less than an hour, it was soon realized that this one-time event should be extended. "I can't wait to get back out there and perform some of my new favorites from Twang along with hits the fans already love," says Strait. "And with my friend Reba, we will make it a really spectacular night." Spectacular, indeed. Between Strait and McEntire, over 122 million albums have been sold and 90 singles have hit #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. The tour kicks off Jan. 22 in Baltimore and will hit St. Louis, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Atlanta before wrapping up April 10 in Des Moinse, IA. I was even willing do drive to Houston or Dallas for this. I'm sure more dates will be added though. It's still in the early stages of planning.

I also liked The Parks' album it's a shame they didn't get promoted. and it looks like Ruby Summer is gone as well... wonder if any of the other new labels will close.

I noticed no Jessica either. There's suppose to be more on this tonight in the actual nightly edition. I'll pass that on when it comes. Hopefully she'll be on there. I still find it odd when I saw her in May she didn't do her single she had out with Carolwood, the one Jay DeMarcus produced and everything. She didn't mention her new album at all or even her label. Only time they were mentioned was when the dj intro'ed her. I got the idea she wasn't exactly happy with them based off the lack of acknowledgement of the single or label.

Lyric Street Shutters Carolwood Imprint November 03, 2009 | David M Ross | Comments 0 [Press Release] Lyric Street/Carolwood Records President Randy Goodman announced today (11/3) the restructuring of that Group’s imprints, which functionally will mean the shuttering of the year-old Carolwood Records while strengthening the Lyric Street promotion staff as both John Ettinger and Chris Palmer, Carolwood Sr. Directors, will move to Lyric Street Records, augmenting that already seasoned team. In this transition, John Ettinger has been tapped to lead the newly restructured Lyric Street Records Regional Staff as Sr. National Director, which includes long-time veterans Renee Leymon, Chris Palmer, Neda Tobin, Theresa Ford, Michelle Tyrrell, and Kris Lamb. Ettinger will report to Kevin Herring, VP of Promotion for Lyric Street Records. Carolwood Promotion Coordinator, Katie McCartney, will segue to Sales/Marketing while current Lyric Street Promotion Coordinator, Jackie Schwarz, will continue in that role for the newly structured Lyric Street regional staff. Dale Turner, VP of Promotional Marketing, will continue in his current role, also reporting to Herring, and supported by Coordinator Landon Morgan. Carolwood staffers, Dave Collins, Trudie Daniell, and Stephanie Keshe, will immediately leave the imprint and can be reached at the contact information below. Current charted Carolwood artists Love and Theft, and Trent Tomlinson, will be folded into the Lyric Street stable and thus worked by the newly reorganized team but will continue to carry the Carolwood label for their current product. Goodman concluded, “I am very optimistic that this newly organized, aggregated Team will bring new focus and energy to our entire staff and roster and thus have great expectations that they will be the catalyst for resetting us towards better serving our Artists and Radio partners while achieving our cost goals.” The newly consolidated Lyric Street roster includes multi-platinum superstar group Rascal Flatts; Platinum selling sisters SHeDAISY; American Idol alum Bucky Covington; new group break-thru Love and Theft, Trent Tomlinson, Sarah Buxton and new and developing artists, Ruby Summer, Tyler Dickerson, Kevin Fowler and The Parks. Contact information for former Carolwood staffers: Dave Collins: (480) 223-8337 Trudie Daniell: (770) 843-2858 Stephanie Keshe: (615) 418-3519 www.musicrow.com/2009/11/lyric-street-shutters-carolwood-imprint/

Great news if you're a Katrina Elam fan, in addition to her having a co-write ("Change") on Carrie Underwood's new album, she's apparently got a role in a movie (I'm assuming this is a sequel to "Pure Country"). From her MySpace blog... "For those of you who don't already know, I am currently starring in a new movie called "A Pure Country Gift", directed by Christopher Cain ("Young Guns", "The Next Karate Kid", "Pure Country") and featuring George Strait.
We are filming my BIG Concert scenes and need to fill the auditorium with volunteer audience members, so I'd love it if you could come out and support me!!"( full blog here) I wish I lived close enough to go, but moseso I'm just happy because this could be a MAJOR second chance for one of the most talented young women to hit country music in the last decade.

I thought this was interesting. Latin-pop star, Shakira, was on a European TV show this week and performed a song called "Gypsy". It's a toned-down, "unplugged" performance that comes across in a folksy, almost country way. Of course, it doesn't hurt that country-fiddler, Megan Mullins, is playing banjo. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WDpEOInMWA

Any word on Sarah Buxton's CD release? I know Lyric Street is famous for waiting on 'big' hits before releasing CDs but considering where she's at on the charts, it would look promising enough to at least set a potential release date. I was looking around Facebook and found Sarah's publisher's page (Tom-Leis Music). No word on the album yet, but it seems to be updated regularly. At least it's updated more than Sarah's myspace page. It's worth taking a look.

I really hope Lyric Street announces something soon. That's great news for Katrina Elam. Her debut album was really good, and it's too bad that she hasn't had much success. I hope this gets the attention of the right people, and maybe we'll get some more music from her.
