This seems to be gaining consistently. CtE may have something here. I could see this crossing over to Hot AC. It's perfect for fall.

Like the audio for the intro in the official video version of this song a lot!

I hope this doesn's go #1 at the expense of Shut Up And Dance or R U Mine?, both are far superior songs.

Cigarette Daydreams is a 100x better than R U Mine?, but I agree that Shut Up + Dance is much better.

I can't believe alt's still at risk of such a disaster, but considering this is absolutely out of control, it needs to hurry up and get in front of "Take Me To Church" for #2 in case the Foos slip up earlier than expected.
It's actually grown on me a bit too. I still prefer "Take It Or Leave it" but I think it's a bit better than "Come A Little Closer"

Yeah I did not see this one doing as well as it has. I wonder perhaps if they'll go with one more single? Best case scenario would be a new album coming from them sooner rather than later.

^Spiderhead for 4th single please.
I'm shocked this has done as well as it has with Take It Or Leave It just barely scraping Top 10.

I think this has crossover written all over it. This will surely get Hot AC airplay if "Come a Little Closer" did.

Their third singles are always successful - "In One Ear", "Aberdeen", now this. They could go 4 deep and get away with it as well.

I think "I Bet My Life" will end up keeping this out of #1. I hope so, because this is probably the least I've liked a Cage the Elephant song, and I'm not a fan of their music.

I'm happy that this has managed to exceed my expectations for a CTE third single and may stand a chance at going to #1 (and hope it does because this is way better than "I Bet My Life", even if this took a little longer to grow on me than the rest of Melophobia).

I hope so, because this is probably the least I've liked a Cage the Elephant song, and I'm not a fan of their music. I liked their first album as it was mostly upbeat and semi-hard rocking, but just about everything since has been so boring to me.

I liked their first album as it was mostly upbeat and semi-hard rocking, but just about everything since has been so boring to me. I've never actually listened to that full album. I remember hating all of the singles when they came out, although over time I started to like "Ain't No Rest For The Wicked" and "Back Against The Wall' quite a bit. I still listen to both today actually. The reason I won't listen to the album though is because I absolutely loathe "In One Ear". I seriously cannot stand that song, the lyrics are obnoxious and musically it sounds like a weak ripoff of "Ain't No Rest..." IMO. And ever since, none of their singles have been great like "Ain't No Rest..." and "Back Against The Wall". I don't know, maybe one day I'll listen to it, I just don't have the motivation to and I think that would obscure how I judge the album if I were to listen.

Check "Back Stabbin' Betty" from their first album.

In my opinion the first two albums they lacked their own musical identity, and the third one they finally reached that milestone. So for that reason alone I enjoy Melophobia as a whole album much more than the first two, despite those albums having some fantastic singles. Imo the order is:
-Melophobia -Cage the Elephant -Thank You, Happy Birthday

I hated their first two albums, especially the song "Ain't No Rest For The Wicked". Though I rather enjoyed "Melophobia". I wouldn't mind seeing this beat "I Bet My Life" to #1 and them grabbing a Grammy win for best Alt album.

Top 50 - Active :o 53 50 CAGE THE ELEPHANT Cigarette Daydreams 92 74 18 0.194 Bit surprised, honestly. "Take It Or Leave It" was a bit more Active-friendly, but that didn't do jack. The more AAA, folky feel to this was something that I thought could have driven it away, but then again, "Ho Hey" and "I WIll Wait" were Top 50 Actives, so, not that far of a reach.

Yay! Hope it can stay there for at least a week. This song has been rising up iTunes too. This song has really grown on me, glad to see it doing well for one of my favorite bands.

I was rooting for "R U Mine?", but I'm fine with this song at the top (plus the Monkeys might still get in there eventually). Mostly, I'm glad that we're crawling out of the rut we were in for a while, where a certain handful of songs were overstaying their welcome.
