LOL at all the negativity in this thread. I agree it's frustrating she has yet to perform live and that it's unclear if "Baby Don't Lie" is a buzz single or the proper lead single from her album. However, the song has not completely flat lined at Radio yet...in fact it's still increasing and about to crack the top 20 at Pop! Not horrible for a 45 year old female who hasn't charted solo since 2007! :) Yes, iTunes is disappointing but I do believe promo would go along way with this song. Here, here. Remember Gwen's first solo single "What You Waiting For" only reached #48 on the Hot 100. Hardly a smash hit, but everyone remembers it. And we overuse the word "flop" on this board quite a bit. It's going top twenty on chr/pop. A flop is "Made in the U.S.A." or "Dark Side" by Kelly Clarkson, the followup to a #1 Hot 100 single that couldn't make it past 50 on the Hot 100. It is not as if Gwen is coming off of a recent smash hit.

"Baby Don't Lie" moves up two spots to #21 this week, which may be it's peak as it looks like its bullet will be gone in a few days. Sigh, last week was really Gwen's last chance to perform it on The Voice.
I hope they rush release "Spark the Fire" considering a video has already been shot and then perform it on The Voice with Pharrell.

I can imagine if Madonna gets a radio deal she'll peak at the same position too.

Because this song is in a tv commercial it could start gaining again? Or maybe release "Start the fire"?

This song was made for radio. I'll be shocked if it gets a #21 peak.

Give Me All Your Luvin topped out at 24.

It is true, there is an ageist thing going on...((I mean Tina Turner and Cher had exceptionally big hits after 45...but not too many others.)) "First Love" by J-Lo was her best song in...forever...in ten years, imo...It definately should have gone at least top 15. But Fergie and Gwen both seem to be getting no airplay in favor of foreign virgin sacrifices from New Zealand, Sweden, Australia, Albania, etc.

I don't think it's ageism. La La Love (LA) is doing better, and Fergie isn't really in her prime. Then again, La La Love isn't that good either. If Gwen were to come back with a really strong single, radio wouldn't hesitate to play it. There's definitely still a chance.

It is not as if Gwen is coming off of a recent smash hit. The #47 peak on H100 wasn't the whole story - that was pre-digital sales being included in H100 and pop radio wasn't as strong - it did peak at #17 on Pop airplay chart or somewhere are there. Even with 47 peak, it did spend the full 20 weeks on H100. I never considered it a 'flop' but I wish it did better. And, I still think the song sounds fresh. I think they're making a mistake if they pull plug on BDL - it has traction on radio and it continues to chart in Top 100 of iTunes. Why go to a second single where they have to start from scratch - especially in mid-November. No, put the marketing dollars behind BDL and maximize it.

I think the problem is that she seemed very hesitant and reluctant about this record coming out in December and it all depended on the success of this, that's why she hasn't really promoted it. To be honest, I don't see them releasing the album in December anymore. I probably see them releasing another single, which she'll probably end up promoting on The Voice and hopefully that does well enough for her to release the album in the spring.

Not to revisit the circa 2006 Gwen vs. Fergie argument but where is everyone getting "Fergie is doing better" from? "La Love" is about to lose it's bullet at Radio, and while it has been higher than "Baby Don't Lie" on iTunes it isn't exactly killing it in sales either. Besides, "Baby Don't Lie" did hit the top ten for a few days upon release while I believe the highest "La Love" ever got was mid 30s.

While I don't think this song is that bad. It is okay for what it is.This is a track that would of been a hit on radio if this was 2009 or 2010.

Just a reminder that Gwen's first single What you waiting for was a flop hit but look what happened after that.Rich girl, Hollaback girl, Cool, and Luxurious, Which were all decent sized hits especially the #1 hit Hollaback girl. Then the last single Crash was a flop hit, but at least she got 4 decent hits off the album. So i wouldnt give up hope just yet.

That was 10 years ago - and with the exception of the barely noticed ND record, Gwen has been out of music for over 7 years. Combine that with her age and the odds of Pop success are limited. That's not to say she might have success on Adult Top 40, though that format is more closely resembling Pop now than even two years ago. If she can't get a hit with TV platform and a song that is making in-roads on Pop radio, a second single doing better is a longshot at best. It's too bad because Gwen is a class act.

How does this go from a few days of negative updates to all of a sudden positive updates? Maybe the TV commercial?

Congrats on breaking the top 20 "Baby Don't Lie"! It's amazing Gwen is the only artist currently on the Pop chart who has been active since the 90s. Almost 20 years in the business and still getting hits...talk about longevity :)

This had a really bad Pop Radio update today but ironically has moved up over 30 spots on iTunes the last few days. I honestly don't understand how the music industry works anymore lol.
