Sales are still not picking up. They've been pretty much where they've been since the video release. If the callout matches the response there, this'll probably have a CHR run similar to This Summer..., maybe slightly longer. It'll crack the top 10, peak there for 2-3 weeks, and then the plug will get pulled fast. Even with her recent track record and massive celebrity, there's just going to be more songs that are testing and selling much better. For comparison, This Summer was on the chart for 11 weeks and Birthday for 17, I think this will get somewhere between those. Grammy boost will give it a new Hot 100 peak during its single run (although getting near its original peak is still not a given with it not being on Spotify and the video already out), but that will only last that week. Not necessarily. Grammy's can make or break any song. You of all people should know this, especially considering Stay was essentially underperforming/relatively unknown before the performance went viral. If things go according to plan (or how they SHOULD go lbr), Taylor's going to have a great night at the Grammy's, and she'll most likely perform this. She kills this on tour. Like, kills it. The show is in 2 weeks. By then, it'll be top 10, or close enough, which will match perfectly with the buzz, giving it enough of a push. I'm not counting this out until after the show. I really do believe visibility and a killer performance is going to make this. She's been silent for months now. I'd go as far to believe that it's actually their strategy. They haven't dropped the ball all era, so I doubt they're ending it on a disappointing note.

Has it even been confirmed that she's performing at the Grammys?

I hope this can sneak at least one week in the Hot 100 top-10 because it would be cool to have another album have 6 top-10's. But we shall see!

The impact is always to the sales. And with the song already being top 15 on radio, and likely top 10 by the time the show rolls around, you can't say that people aren't familiar with the song. Yes, it will get a sales spike if she does it on TV, but I think it will be short lived and start sliding back down rather quickly.

Like I mentioned, it essentially skyrocketed Stay into the top 3 on the Hot 100 and the top of iTunes. HDD is claiming Taylor is a lock-in for the Grammy's.

They haven't dropped the ball all era, so I doubt they're ending it on a disappointing note. Stay isn't a very good comparison. When that was performed, it wasn't well known because it was just starting on radio (for reference the 2013 Grammys were on 2/10/13, on that chart Stay moved from 38-28 in its second week, too early and too low to register on callouts). The video for Stay also premiered either that same night, or the next day. Underperforming is an incorrect term for a non-lead/non-pre-hyped single at that early of a stage. That's a different situation from this. This had the video premiere almost a month ago, so that card is played out already. It's also high enough on radio that it's had a lot more exposure from that front. When Unconditionally and This Summer were blasting through this region on radio and the sales were still below past hits, they were a clear sign that a repeat performance of those was not in the cards. Giving a song a push doesn't mean that the public will bite. Wildest Dreams soared into the top 5 after the video premiere and nothing else (airplay kicked off simultaneously so it didn't drive the initial flight), this is still hovering around the #50 area. Big big difference, far bigger than an excuse like "one was the VMAs" will work for at this time down the line. The only other rising song in the top 20 on CHR that's not in the same region on iTunes? In The Night, another underperformer coming after a streak of big hits. Hot 100 wise, this is all before the point that this isn't up for streaming on all services. They're better off trying to plan something viral.

Saying that Stay isn't a good comparison to a song released as a sixth single that already sold 700k from being released as a promo single a year and a half ago off of the dominant album for most of the year is sort of an understatement. You're definitely right that it's not a great comparison.

It'd be so bad to ruin the CHR #1 hits or the Top 10 hits on Billboard strike but she didn't release it to get another hit.

Are you implying that she released this song somehow knowing it wouldn't be a hit? Now, I mean that after all the success of 1989 she probably wanted to give an end to the era by releasing one last single. If she wanted it to be a hit she'd promote it better!

This song is what should have Wildest Dreams' success. I don't like WD at all, but this is a really good song. :(

I can't believe the radio updates for this. Aside from the video launch, I feel like there is zero hype behind this vs the first 5 singles.

It seems to me that the 'fan favorite' singles every era tend to underperform as compared to other singles from the same album.
Sparks Fly, 22/Red, Style all come to mind. And now OOTW seem to be the same way too.
