Yeah it's a very effective video, but I just have one question: are those brass knuckles on the microphone? I've never really seen that before, not sure if it's a common thing or just a new Brantley thing. Pretty sure it's a Brantley thing. I've noticed it before in the past when he gave live performances.

Great video. I loved it. I hope this can start to actually take off soon, because this song is fantastic. Watching that video just now for the first time brought me to tears, though I don't think it was necessarily the video, since the song alone has done that a couple times on the radio already. It also gave me goosebumps on my arms, and that's always a sign of a great song. That line at the end of the second verse always gets me, that "He never gave up, said the Good Lord's waiting!" It strikes a chord every time. I think this is song of the year material really, it's just a beautiful song.

Is it bad to say its a beautiful song, but it doesn't feel authentic to me. I think Brantleys previous content makes thins song feel fake to me.

I'm not a big fan of some of his music (mostly looking at you, "Bottoms Up" and "Small Town Throwdown"), but I don't see why those songs would automatically make this one seem inauthentic. I guess it's a matter of personal taste or w/e you want to call it. Brantley is clearly a guy who likes to let loose and have fun, but it's easy to tell that he lives a life of faith, that he's compassionate towards others, and that he supports the troops (and these aspects seem to be the main focus of this song). I think this is a great song too, and I think the video was very well done.

I think this is a great song too, and I think the video was very well done. The two people honored in the music video are Kory, a close friend of Brantley, who lost his fight with Leukemia. The other, Jon, is a friend of a hometown hero (Josh) of Brantley's who was killed just feet away from Josh while in Iraq. Brantley wrote the song for two real life people who passed away. Time to panic? Down two spots to #50 today, with a +1 spins gain and +0.146 AI gain (if I'm reading this correctly). With the new, red hot songs from Kenny, Kip and Brad blasting past it, and the likes of Mickey Guyton, Maddie & Tae, Frankie Ballard and Reba also in front, I think a top 40 peak is the most realistic goal at this point.

I still think if he releases 17 Again or Guns n Roses, he's gonna be fine.

With the new, red hot songs from Kenny, Kip and Brad blasting past it, and the likes of Mickey Guyton, Maddie & Tae, Frankie Ballard and Reba also in front, I think a top 40 peak is the most realistic goal at this point. He's burned through quite a few chart weeks but this song gained almost 500k on MB over the last 6 days (which is its best week in a while), and it's several positions higher on Billboard as well. Also, it's now at #48 on Mediabase after recurrents were removed this evening. Another thing--this one is selling really well now. It saw a really big boost after the release of the video. Obviously he has other songs that could be hits, but I don't think it's that radio doesn't want to play this one; rather, I think it's struggling simply because of the sheer volume of popular artists who all have new singles out right now. So I do agree that songs like "17 Again" or "Lights Of My Hometown" could be hits too, but I really don't think they'd be much higher than "One Hell Of An Amen" is right now, even if those other songs were released at the same time that this was and under the same circumstances. I'm willing to bet that the label will still stick with this one for quite a while yet. If it can catch on in the next couple of weeks, I could see it being one of those songs that has a 35-40 week chart run. I think this is a really important song to Brantley, and I don't think they would have made a video if they weren't gonna be in it for the long haul.

Brantley Gilbert is certainly a B-lister and of course he'd get passed eventually by some of the big hits being released by A-listers ("Raise 'Em Up," "Wild Child," etc.), but this has been out since November and hasn't even been able to climb into the top 40. If radio were interested in this I definitely think Brantley would have been able to do a better job of holding his own. Even newer artists such as Frankie Ballard and Mickey Guyton are passing him. I'm a bit skeptical that a song as radio-friendly as "My Baby's Guns N' Roses" would be struggling nearly as badly and I think that or "Seventeen Again" would have had a climb to #1 about as steady as "Say You Do" or "Lonely Eyes," whereas this is looking more like a song that might get lost in the shuffle altogether like "This Kind of Town."
I had predicted a teens peak a while back for this one and then it grew on me a bit so I "softened up" and predicted a top 10 for BG, but now it looks like both of my original predictions could be wrong. Brantley Gilbert was certainly no stranger to slow climbs before this album and I don't think it's impossible for this to last 40 weeks, but right now I feel doubtful this will last long enough to reach the top 30. I don't want every artist to avoid releasing deeper, riskier material to radio and play it safe all the time, but it might have been a better idea for Brantley to wait until the fourth single for this after collecting one more #1 since "Small Town Throwdown" already squandered some of his "Bottoms Up" momentum. In short, I'll wait a few more weeks to write this one off completely but perhaps this wasn't the best release for radio.

"One Hell Of An Amen" will get the benefit of countdown spins next weekend as it will finish at #40 this evening with Eric, Carrie and RaeLynn going recurrent.

Well it took about 18 weeks or so but this one is finally getting it's footing under it. "One Hell Of An Amen" moves up three spaces this week to #33 on MB and increases 217 spins and 1.2 million in audience. The past three weeks Brantley has gained 3.7 million in audience and 528 total spins. I agreed with jhomes87 back when this song was struggling in the 40's, that this one would get going eventually, but even I was getting a little worried. Luckily, it looks as if this one will be top 20 bound and perhaps top 10 bound. I fully expect a +30 week chart run here.

It's about damn time. This is probably the most meaningful tune Brantley has recorded, and it's still pretty radio friendly IMO. It's not like this one is extremely slow and contrasting like "What We Ain't Got" or "She Don't Love You". It's got a nice rock edge, and I would love nothing more to see this one ride it out to at least a top 5 peak.

Interesting... It's not like they needed to do a deluxe re-release to try to boost sales, as the numbers for this one have been extremely well. Maybe they aren't happy with how Small Town Throwdown and One Hell of an Amen seem to be panning out at radio? Could the next single be one of those 5? I think he still has some options in 17 Again, My Baby's Guns and Roses, and Lights of My Hometown, although the first two may be too rocky and the third may be too long (also perhaps too slow after his current single).

Could just want the sales and popularity bump from some new stuff. Has there ever been an album that had bonus tracks (GRITS, Grown Ass Man, and Read Me My Rights) AND a re-release with even more bonus tracks?

This one is really taking off now. In the last 2 weeks on Billboard, it's gained 4 million in audience and has quickly moved from the cusp of the top 30 up to #24. It's up nearly another 1 million on Mediabase in the last 2 days (with a 7-day bullet of nearly 400), so it looks to me like Brantley will have a good chance to chase down both Michael Ray and Frankie Ballard by the end of the week. Both Frankie and Michael have moved up much faster and actually passed Brantley weeks ago, but their songs are now slowing down big-time. I figured it was only a matter of time before Frankie and Michael hit a brick wall, given how poorly their songs have been selling.
With Cole Swindell set to go recurrent, I think we'll see Brantley move up another 3 spots on Monday's Billboard, up to #21, as I do think "One Hell Of An Amen" will pass both Frankie and Michael. It's starting to look like Brantley will follow Little Big Town into the top 20.
This one might see a 35-40 week chart run, but it looks to me like it'll be a hit after all, with definite top 10 potential.

"One Hell Of An Amen" is up over 4.0 million in audience this week, though 1.7 of it is from Westwood One. Even still though, that would put its gains at 2.3 million for the week with one day left, and that falls right in lines with the great gains Brantley's had the past three weeks; April 6th (2.1 million), April 13th (2.4 million), April 20th (2.3 million). Overall that works out to nearly 11 million in audience gains over the past 4 weeks (9.5 without Westwood One).
I think this one is top 5 bound for sure.

I'm so glad that radio has finally gotten on board with this one! I was getting worried there for awhile because this really got off to a surprisingly slow start, but it's nice to see that it caught on at last. I'd love to see this one go all the way to #1 since it's far and away his best single, imo.

Just saw where the deluxe version of "Just As I Am" is on iTunes and one song is available right now "Same Old Song", pretty good, I imagine those who don't like bro are going to say this pretty hypocritical of him, since he's been guilty of that stuff before ("Small Town Throwdown")

I listened to the iTunes preview of it last night, and the hook is "you'll see why we can't quit singing that same old song". The lyrics to the first verse are as follows: I hear there's folks / Tired of us talking about dirt roads / Tailgates, tan lines and corn rows / It sounds made up but that's the life I know / We know all about some moonshine / Moonlight, bonfires / Seein' all the stars on a summer night / Don't see how that's gettin' old Then the chorus: C'mon / Ride with us on Friday night / See if we ain't jacked em up / See if we ain't settin' it on fire / See if we don't burn it up / See if we ain't crankin' Hank / Sippin' on a little somethin' strong / Hey man, you'll see why we can't / Quit singin' that same old song / The same old song So this definitely isn't hypocritcal, lol. It's definitely defending songs like "Bottoms Up" and "Small Town Throwdown", as well as the hundreds of other bro-country songs out there.

Wow, I admittedly, half listened and thought the tune was going the other way...my bad Hahaha No worries! I actually thought the same thing when I was first listening to the preview, haha. I thought it was going to be something like "there's gotta be more, we can't just keep singing that same old song". But then when I realized it was "that's why we can't quit singing that same old song"...I just rolled my eyes.
