Jewel just posted a letter to the fans on her fansite and she mentions she's shooting a simple video for Stephenville, TX (like she did with Goodbye Alice In Wonderland) and it seems it will be released to country radio and CMT!
"hello from texas!
well, i have a few days home alone at the ranch and it feels good! ty is at a bull riding in north carolina, and i am enjoying the stillness of being home alone. it is so pretty here. so different from alaska, but beautiful in a more restrained kind of way. alaska has the kind of extreme beauty that makes you want to bust at the seams. the mountains and glaciers and rivers and great depth of field seems to defy gravity. it is a strange almost volatile beauty that defies you in some way, daring you to look and look more. it is a kind of beauty that takes strength to endure. the extreme hours of daylight. the extreme daylight. the harsh winters and cold summers- all to reap the reward of that stunning scenery.....
here in texas the fields are luscious and green and the pecan groves give shade to deer and armadillo. the river bottoms are guarded on all sides by sentinel oak trees and the hills give the eyes a sense of soothing relief as they break up the static horizon with gentle slopes that climb and bend, but not too much.
ty built a cedar bunk house for the cowboys to stay in during branding season, with a great porch that overlooks all 2,000 acres. this is where i sit to write when i am alone. it is where i sit now with my lap top as i write to you all.
so, fall is upon us and come november i will start to tour a little more. i have been touring with my band, which has been fun. i start the show acoustic and bring the band out after about 40 minutes, i love having a band. it makes the road less lonely, as we get to travel and laugh the miles away. and on stage i enjoy having a band because it helps me illustrate the versatility of my writing to be able to go from a solo song like "1000 miles away", to a band song like "love me just leave me alone". it makes me proud to hear all the songs and the genres they cover, from country to rock to folk.
but come november i will be strictly solo, and this is fun for different reasons. i like to have no set list or rules to follow. i like to feel the audience and let you guys request songs and visit with you. it keeps me from getting bored.
oh, i’m gonna shoot a low-fi, low budget super 8 video of the song “stephenville, tx”. i’m directing it along with kurt markus and 3 guys who have a company called the nova project. it will be pretty simple, but i like that song, and figured i’d release the video on the internet, and who knows, maybe cmt will pick it up and maybe even some renegade country stations...
well, i guess that’s all for now....hope everyone is well, and i will see you on the road! jewel "
