I was worried you wouldn't continue with the countdown, so obviously I'm thrilled you didn't give up on it!! 2004Keane - "Somewhere Only We Know" - This is one of those songs that I know and like, but always forget to listen to for some reason. Lovely song. Destiny's Child - "Lose My Breath" - This was FIRE back in 2004 for sure. These days I only happen to listen to it if it comes on my workout playlist, lol. Loretta Lynn - "Portland, Oregon" (feat. Jack White) - Fantastic track. Sufjan Stevens - "The Dress Looks Nice On You" - Interesting ballad. I had never heard of it before. I'm definitely feeling it as I type this, haunting...

Extra love for starting this again!
2004:
06. Somewhere Only We Know - Keane: Beautiful song indeed, and one of the highlights of 2004 for me. It only gets better with age. So glad that it's here!
05. Lose My Breath - Destiny's Child: YES YES YES. It's a tough call, but this might be my favorite Destiny's Child song. It's hot, and always something that I'm in the mood to jam to.
04. Portland, Oregon - Loretta Lynn (ft. Jack White): Loretta's been a favorite of mine since I was little so I'm glad to see some love for her here! I had kind of forgotten about this one until I saw it here. I'm obsessed with it now. It's such a flawless pairing, and it only makes Loretta more badass, as you touched on.
03. The Rat - The Walkmen: This is the sole new discovery of the bunch, but it's a great one. Your commentary was an apt description of the song. Great find!
02. Hollaback Girl - Gwen Stefani: UH HUH THIS MY SHIT. This is pure fun, and it would be criminal to leave it off. Never gets old.
01. The Dress Looks Nice On You - Sufjan Stevens: I didn't realize that I already knew this song! I've heard it before (albeit a while ago), but never knew what it was or who it was by. It's nice to know now, though! I'll have to look into more from him.

So much win in 2005/6
Especially happy to see Candyman - such an underrated Christina single.
But also nice to see Blue Orchid (my fave from them would come a year or two later with You Don't Know What Love Is), and The Hand That Feeds, Jack White again with the Raconteurs, M.I.A., Gorillaz, Pink, Muse.

OK, 2007 is OK, and you putting Amy at #2 redeems it a bit, but 2008! You picked so many of my favorite songs from that year. Violet Hill was my year-end #1, and Warwick Ave, No One, and I'm Yours are all former #1. I still would karaoke with any of those any day any time - haha. That's Not My Name is so fun too!
And I approve of any list with Beyonce at #1.

I was jamming to Party in the USA and was wondering why I didn't give it more love when it was popular. Also, nice calls in your top 5, except T.I.
