Damn "Give Me All Your Luvin'" only hit #24? I felt like that was everywhere on the radio when it was released. Never liked the song, but still.

Damn "Give Me All Your Luvin'" only hit #24? I felt like that was everywhere on the radio when it was released. Never liked the song, but still. Because it was everywhere but only for a week. In fact it was top 10 on the billboard hot 100. Give me all your luvin was really a bad judgement moment

GMAYL was a little Super Bowl souvenir of a single. Being a very Madonna-centric cut (not the type of universal anthem she does so well), it wasn't destined for a very lengthy run.
It debuted at No. 24 on Billboard's Pop Songs chart from just three days of airplay, boosted by the Clear Channel radio promo leading up to the Super Bowl. It then dropped back, but lasted four more weeks on the chart.
Three years later, will radio give LFL any kind of notable shot?

I really wish Give Me All Your Luvin' was a better song. The amount of exposure it had for a very short time period was insane, but you can't force people to like a song. I think even Living for Love would have performed better under similar circumstances.

GMAYL was not a bad single or poor judgement. Even though I agree she did get a little carried away with the football theme. Having said that. It was around this time Artist began to realize a 3 day weekend play was not a good strategy. Because after heavy airplay the song goes negative temporarily. And when it does programmers will pull the track, pretending they don't what is happenning. Knowing full well it is just a cooling off period!!! Unless you are a young current major artist of course, thay will keep playing the track. They used the temporary negative spins as an excuse to dump the song, quickly!!! Oh,well that was then! As you may remember this was also the last song to use the 3 day weekend strategy instead it is now a 1 day all day Premiere that began with Katy Perry's "Part of Me'
Now,we're just going to have to wait and see what Interscope and her team are planning. They had better be really smart and aggressive with their promotional strategy this time around!! Again,I say a commercial placement. In America,we can't bet on radio airplay that would be a foolish bet!!

^The song just didn't click with the public- which, again, was understandable. Compare it to the best Madonna tracks that actually have a universal sentiment. It is true that counting on U.S. airplay would be fruitless.

Yeah, it wasn't very good imo, it was enjoyable for a few listens though. Also M.I.A. and Nicki were severely subpar on that song...

Gimme All Your Loving was basically just that a plea for younger fans, a song made not for music sake but $$$ and exposure and those never end well. People expect more from her, that is a song a basic pop act from 2012 could have gotten away with but not a pop legend? That song was a hot ass mess.
If she had a song like this out during that time whole different story. She still managed to sell 500K in the US and hopefully the fall wont be as drastic here in the US as other veteran acts but the SB and that song gave her the best we can expect from her in the US at this age.

Grammy demanding performance Radio deal starting Monday iTunes main banner for single 6 new songs released
It's going to make a splash no matter what. What I don't hope is that one (or more likely) songs that she's released garner more attention than LFL. Ghosttown already did. We'll see. I do think it will do well over in Europe.

Holy crap did Hung Up only peak at #16 on Pop I swear that song was absolutely huge when it came out. Like big impact.
I live in Canada and I think when "Hung Up" came out it debuted at #1 on airplay with less then a week of tracking. It was a massive hit in Canada.

^^Hung Up came out when only generic urban crap dominated radio. Anything that was even remotely different was rejected, especially EDM-leaning songs like Hung Up. #16 isn't too bad, but considering it was #1 pretty much everywhere, just talks about the state of US radio at the time

Yea it was #1 on iTunes for like 2 weeks, so the interest was definitely there.

Hung Up would have been massive in the US like it was everywhere else if it was released around '09 or later. EDM/dance was about the biggest pariah you could inflict on your song for mainstream success back in '06, as hard as that may be to believe now.

Although ironically Cascada's "Everytime We Touch" came out the same time "Hung Up" did, but radio decided to latch onto that instead of "Hung Up".

Radios treatment of Hung Up is when I began my disillusionment with the format. It was an injustice.

Well it was not only dance but retro dance. Heaven, listen to your heart, Everytime we touch had another dance sound. Hung Up had a more disco than EDM vibe. Further, the radio edit didn't help. Although I understand why the fade-out/in section was removed, an edit that shortened but not removed that section would've worked better. The radio edit simplified (and iirc also sped up) the song too much. Interesting how at that time HU seemed to be too retro sounding, but then it was seen as ahead of its time (similar to Give it 2 me in a way)

Hung up was also the video where Madge really looked "old" probably for the first time, and dressed like that in the pink onesie leotard did not go over well with radio listeners or programmers in the US. I think the video lbs socially sunk what could have been a huge smash (like it was elsewhere).

In my opinion "Hung Up' lackluster reception had everything to do with the programmers at radio, specifically @ Z100. They added it intially then pulled back.
The lack of success even though it was a Top Ten @ Billboard. Because the programmers wanted what was already correctly stated that hybrid hip hop sound only and everything else need not apply.
It was number 1 on let us not forget TRL a quite few a times. It was a sensation around the planet as we know and yes that included America, just tacky American programmers again refused to play it and keeping it spins very minimal.
And yes her age couldn't be ignored. This is America. But the wrong programmers were in place at time. You can make the best Album the planet has ever heard but if you are to old in America it will not be played, period!!
The Album COADF should have been her swan song. Bringing her Top Ten totals to 40 in America on Billboard. She has 38 but really should be 40 along time ago with COADF. But,I know let's not dwell on what should of been. What 's done is done.
But,One thing is for sure Madonna has paved the way for the so called EDM obsession that is taken place right now. Whether the programmers or her distractors want to believe! COADF is the template for the Dance world. She demonstates how to proceed forward while not forgetting the past and being innovative and Modern at the same time!
Whether 'Living for Love' succeeds or not doesn't change the fact her legacy and influence at radio and in the annals of music will be felt for years to come. :)

In a perfect world hard candy would have come out in 2005 and confessions in 2008! Then M would have been acknowledged as a trailblazer!

The video was played everywhere. And she looked hot.
