Tentatively scheduled for a release on September 18th. Again, the single impacts in May.

I wonder who the first duet to be released will be and also if they'll perform it on the ACMs.

I am excited to see what the first single is, and who it is with. A May release? Comin' up fast! :)

stuffy, I didn't think about the ACMs. A release it May would be perfect timing for her to perform it on the show, especially since she's hosting. I am excited to see what the first single is, and who it is with. A May release? Comin' up fast! :) Okay, here's my long-winded deductive analysis for the leadoff single.... Rule out Don Henley or Carole King. I think they'll want to lead off with a country artist or someone mainstream. Rule out LeAnn Rimes. She's about to debut a new single so I'm sure the label would not yet want to negatively impact it's chart run. Rule out Faith Hill for similar reasons though there is a bit more uncertainty about her next single. Rule out Justin Timberlake. This is too risky for a leadoff single regardless of how country the song might be. Rule out Kelly Clarkson. Their CMT Crossroads isn't until November so I'm guessing this will be a second or third single. Rule out Vince Gill and Trisha Yearwood. They didn't release Reba's last duet with Vince which was incredible so I think he's too under-the-radar at the moment for the lead single. The same may be true for Trisha. So that leaves Ronnie Dunn, Kenny Chesney, and Rascal Flatts. They are all at the top of their games at the moment commerically-speaking so I think they are the most viable candidates. Ronnie and Rascal Flatts will have just wrapped up a 4th single from their latest albums and are moving to new albums set to be released later in the year while Kenny will have just peaked with a 3rd single. I think it will either be Kenny Chesney or Rascal Flatts. RF currently has an album tentatively scheduled to be released a week after Reba's so that could impact it.

I still think it'll be Kelly Clarkson for the lead off single. Just cause Crossroads airs in the Fall doesn't mean it can't be a lead off now. It's not like Crossroads has any impact on radio performance.

Very nice predictions sbp17. I have to agree will all of them except Kelly Clarkson, as TCorey said. I actually expected that to be the lead from the beginning just because that seems to be the most talked about one. If not Kelly, then Ronnie Dunn, since he's been having fair solo/duet success lately.
OOOOOO I can't wait for leaks!
PS: Is this going to get longer, or is this going to be a shorter album?

I still think it'll be Kelly Clarkson for the lead off single. Just cause Crossroads airs in the Fall doesn't mean it can't be a lead off now. It's not like Crossroads has any impact on radio performance. But if Crossroads was recorded in February, why wait all the way until November to air it if this was going to be the lead single? Plus, if they are pushing Kelly's new single and cd as more of a 'rock' cd, I don't think they want a cute country song pushed out there at the same time. Maybe it will still end up being the lead single. I thought it would be when I thought the first single was going to be later in the fall. ETA: Actually, now that I think about it, the November date for Crossroads could be CMT's decision to air it during November sweeps.

PS: Is this going to get longer, or is this going to be a shorter album? Keith Urban had been mentioned by her many times but I haven't heard anything lately. And Beyonce was mentioned in one article. I hope that fell through, though. I'd still love to hear a Reba/Dolly duet or another duet with Linda Davis.

Kelly Clarkson is getting ready to release her new single from her new album next wk and it's not her duet so I can't see the first single from the duets album being the duet with Kelly.

It's not like a duet with Reba would compete with Kelly's lead single from her album. Her album's single isn't going to get country play so I doubt there's much reason they should conflict.

Shawn Parr just said on his morning show that the duet with Ronnie Dunn will be the first single.
The duet with Don Henley is something I'm really looking forward to; he's my favorite recording artist of the past thirty-five years, and his concerts are exceptional.

I agree...we've already had a Reba/Ronnie duet, but they sound great together, so I'm fine with that being the first single. I'm very curious to hear the Carole King song, but I understand why it wouldn't be the first single.

Thanks Marv! Great to hear! I'm looking forward to this song. I believe Reba and Ronnie co-wrote it. Plus, the title sounds like a nice country ballad....Does The Wind Still Blow In Oklahoma.

I don't even mind it being a Kelly song but that one? It's my least favorite of all of her singles. I could see it bombing. What happend to the other song they recorded together?

They definitely did, they performed it at the Crossroads (along with BOY). It was reported on this site that they were back in the studio together in Nashville after Crossroads, apparently they recorded a studio version of BOY for the Duets album.

Do we know there isn't more than one song by each artist on the album?

I am ELATED by this news. From the first time I heard Because Of You, I wished Reba was able to wrap her heart-wrenching vocals around it. I still don't think it should or will be the first single or maybe not even a single at all. The lyrics do not lend themselves to a duet so it may just be Kelly adding harmony.
In any event, this does not disappoint me. I can already hear Reba sing "...and now I cry in the middle of the night for the same damn thing...". The Reba who could wail with the best of them (You Lie, Rumor Has It, For My Broken Heart) has been replaced by the sugary Reba (I'll Be, I'm A Survivor, You're Gonna Be) and I've missed the former.

Love Reba and love Kelly, but I'm not loving the BOY duet choice. They must have done some kind of an amazing job at the Crossroads concert. I was hoping for an original song for the both of them. I'm not surprised that Reba and Kelly is the first duet chosen from the album.

Maybe its a bonus track and there's been a misunderstanding. I talked to my friend that works for Reba.. BOY is not confirmed as the debut single, but it has indeed been recorded for this album.

It may not be, Country Weekly may have jumped the gun because they removed the article from their site. Glad to know that it's been recorded though!

Dang, I already made comments about this in the other thread.
I love 'Because Of You'. Beautiful song, amazing vocals by Kelly. I would love to hear the duet. But I don't know if it should be the first single. I think the first single should be Reba/Ronnie since he is already well respected in the country music industry, that would be a safer bet. But having 'Because Of You' as a second single definitely wouldn't disappoint me.

According to a press release, it is confirmed that Reba will be singing with Kelly on the ACMs. I can only assume that this will, indeed, be the first single as I think it would be strange to perform it live at the same time another duet is released. We'll find out soon enough.

UGH. I hate the thought of BOY being Reba's single.
My only hope now is that BOY was added last minute to the album in addition to the other song they recorded. I'm hoping the other song will be the single and the one they perform on the ACMs.
