"Going Out Like That"(Rhett Akins, Ben Hayslip, Jason Sellers) Reba McEntireJanuary 12, 2015 BCA: 45 - 44 - 42 - 41 - 40 - 41 - 41 - 36 - 35 - 35 - 36 - 32 - 35 - 36 - 31 - 33 - 32 - 32 - 31 - 33 - 31 - 29 - 29 - 28 - 30 - 31 - off BCS: 28 - 40 - 39 - 43 - 48 - 47 - 46 - 46 - 41 - 43 - 36 - 33 - 35 - 32 - 25 - 23 - 29 - 30 - 33 - 34 - 38 - 38 - 34 - 37 - off It's been awhile since she put that red dress on
And slipped into those high heels
She's got a couple new guys blowing up her phone And she loves the way that that feels You'd never know she was going through a break-up There ain’t a single tear messing up her makeup
He thought she'd be sitting home crying She ain't going out like that She's had enough of feeling like dying She ain't going out like that Everybody, here comes the life of the party Yeah, she is He might have left her brokenhearted But she ain't going out like that
She's got her hands up, dancing like the floor's on fire Yeah, she's the hottest thing in here Guess she finally got tired of being sick and tired Now she's looking like she don't care She was hurting, well she must have forgot 'cause she's smiling while she's throwing back shots
He thought she'd be sitting home crying She ain't going out like that She's had enough of feeling like dying She ain't going out like that Everybody, here comes the life of the party Yeah, she is He might have left her brokenhearted But she ain't going out like that
He thought she'd be sitting home crying She ain't going out like that She's had enough of feeling like dying She ain't going out like that
Everybody, here comes the life of the party He might have left her brokenhearted But she ain't going out like that, going out like that
Everybody, here comes the life of the party Everybody, here comes the life of the party Yeah, she is

Do you have the songwriters for this song? I agree. This is vintage Reba McEntire.

I'm probably in the minority here, but based on those lyrics, I'm not expecting too much from this; those lyrics sound like something a young 20-something might sing, not someone of Reba's caliber and maturity. I instantly thought of "Turn On The Radio" when I read the lyrics, and that's far from a compliment.

I instantly thought of "Turn On The Radio" when I read the lyrics, and that's far from a compliment. I knew that such comparisons were imminent, and those fears are not completely unfounded because the song does follow the formula for her recent lead singles. I like this song more than "Radio," though, for the simple fact that she was the protagonist for that song, whereas she portrays the narrator with this song. The desperation that some complained about seems to have been toned down. To me, the subject matter and sound are more like "Strange." I also love the fact that "she ain't going out like that" can act as an unofficial comeback statement from Reba.

Of the three they tested, this is a good choice. Anyone else think the production on it is slightly reminiscent of Jason Aldean?

Fantastic choice. This is modern, current, and yet vintage Reba, all at the same time. If this doesn't hit big, it won't be because of the material.

Reba's speech was very touching and well said too. We are lucky to have her.

There are 2 artists who I have loved as long as I have a memory...Reba and Dolly. I can't remember life without their music. That Reba tribute was amazing and I teared up as she sang "Fancy." Her music has guided me through my life and I have listened to every word she has ever recorded. This new album can't come fast enough. I sure do miss the days when she put out an album every year like clock work but that was another era ago.

The lyrics read like a 90's song by either Lorrie Morgan or Reba herself. The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter era Reba. I mean this as positive -- that was a good period for female voices in country music. The best period, and I hope we can have another decade like it. (Fat chance!)

"She was hurting, well she must have forgot 'cause she's smiling while she's throwing back shots" Ugh, I am so in love with this song! My new anthem! My queen! <3 Beyond happy that they went with this! Best chance of the three they tested, imo, to be a big hit for a lead single! I know a lot of people don't think this will be huge or anything like that, and I totally understand, but I'm holding out hope that she comes back with a bang (like she has done many times before!) <3 <3 <3

If it wasn't for the women in the 90's I never would have become a Country fan. In the entire decade of the 90s (my preteen and teen years) I only bought albums by 2 male artists, Garth and George Jones. But I bought countless female albums and they defined what music was to me. Needless to say the lack of 90s-like females is why I don't listen to Country radio anymore. I listen to all the new female voices taking over Pop. I've asked it before. Why can women dominate Pop this decade but be a ghost town in Nashville? It seems like all the best album sellers are Pop women these last several years! Are Nashville execs too blind to see that? At least we have Borchetta and Taylor!

Not the best place to put this probably, but oh well! For anyone who didn't watch the show tonight here's a link with the video in it (including Kix's introduction, the performances, and Reba's speech)! www.justjared.com/2014/12/15/kelly-clarkson-honors-mom-in-law-reba-mcentire-at-american-country-countdown-awards/Thoughts: -I do have to say that this was a very sweet tribute! I still think it's very random, but as long as they try to continue with this award and not make it into random crap the ACMs/CMAs pass out at times, then I'll enjoy it more! Assuming this show continues on each year! -Miranda and Kelly sound amazing together! Love them! -I know it's just my obsession kicking in, but I love watching all of these other artists sing along to Reba's songs in the crowd! So fun! Carrie singing along to "Take It Back" was just too precious! -Reba is a doll. Like she made me tear up. I can't handle it. I love her way too much! <3 -This is all I needed to tide me over until her new music comes! Operation: The Return of Reba has finally commenced! -OH!!! And someone better find/make a .gif of Reba with her hand on her hip when she joins in on "Fancy"....such sass!! I love it!

I'm beyond excited for this. Reba has consistently been one of my favorite country artists since I was a child. I think this'll be a big hit. Those lyrics are really great.
Oh, and that ACCA tribute to her was perfect. They were all on point, and I really loved when Reba joined in. It reminded me of why I love Reba. Fitting tribute for a very deserving artist.

I was kinda hoping Reba would join in at the end and debut this new single, but I loved the way she came in on "Fancy." Definitely a great tribute and Miranda and Kelly sounded good together, though Reba absolutely killed it when she came in. She still looks and sounds amazing for her age. I'm skeptical about how mainstream country radio will respond to her new music, but I'm trying to be optimistic that she'll manage to pull off another comeback. No one was expecting "Consider Me Gone" to do for her what it did, so who knows.

The lyrics definitely have me intrigued. Reba is my favorite female country singer of all time, so I hope radio will give this a chance. It certainly wouldn't kill radio to play a little bit of Reba right now.

I'm very much looking forward to this era by Reba. The whole way this era has been started so far seems to be way better than how she handled the last few eras. There just seems to be more excitement for Reba instead of Reba trying to create this comeback. It seems more natural and not as contrived. Plus with the vegas run it seems like she is fully behind the project.

2015 will be the year of Reba. Her experience and talents will emerge to produce some of the countries greatest radio and a tour in the city of sin. This will not be a comeback. It will be a declaration of a true american country ICON.
Does anyone know if the new single is out on radio or where it can be heard prior to the release on iTunes in January?

I finally got around to seeing the tribute on the recent country awards show. That proved to me that she's still got in and should be given an honest shot on radio if the material is right and I think Going Out Like That is right. The way she commanded the stage was as strong as ever and her vocals on Fancy sounded as good as ever.
This song is radio friendly sonically and lyrically. I agree with others who say that the third person perspective make this believable coming from someone her age and relatable for listeners half her age (more so than perhaps Radio and If I Were A Boy). I like the various layers to the song's message and even how it's a fitting message for Reba herself when radio seems to be trying to push her out. She ain't going out like that.

Can't wait for "Going Out Like That"!! Reba's first single from her last album "Turn On The Radio" was fun and a huge hit and I'm hoping this new song will be a hit as well. I'm not worrying too much though because I think once people hear this song they will be wanting to buy it right away.
