Another solid song from Reba, and I'm not surprised the slightest bit. This is the perfect song for Reba to sing. I hope this can at least squeak into the top 10.

Love this song. And I think lots of other stations will add it since the song is a contemporary Country song. Hope Reba gets the hit she's deserved for a few years.

I bought it. I love it. Hope it does well! It wouldn't be fair for radio to abandon this since this is the type of song that will easily fit in the current playlist.

I guess I'm going to be the first to say this but I found it underwhelming. The singles from her last album minus her If I Were A Boy cover were stronger songs in my opinion. I'm hoping that it grows on me and that she has something more interesting on the record.

I can't say I'm very fond of this... it's pretty generic sounding and the melody doesn't flow for me. I can see this doing well for her though.

I've already talked about how I like the various layers to the title but I think overall, it's well composed lyrically, particularly for an up-tempo song. I also like that it seems to be in a key that plays more to the lower/middle end of Reba's range as opposed to the upper limits of her range as many of her recent singles have done. Of course with age, her range is not what it used to be so I think even on studio recordings, she has not sounded quite as good when going for the higher notes but this song seems to play to her sweet spot and she sounds great. I would prefer a bridge instead of repeating the chorus and I could do without the unnecessary effects applied to her voice on the last chorus but those are really the only minor issues I have with the song. I loved Strange and Take That Mountain so I'm not quite sure I'm ready to say it's her best lead single since Fear Of Being Alone but it's definitely better than Turn On The Radio and at least just as good as the other lead singles since Fear.

I feel I must rant here. I know they have holidays and whatnot that have probably caused delays and problems, but what has her team done for this song? Her web presence has, honestly, been incredibly terrible recently. They only ever updated her Facebook pictures, seemingly forgetting her own website and her Twitter. I stand by this complaint, because I think consistent graphics and promotion displayed across various platforms earlier in the process would have benefitted the release, but they apparently have plans to launch her website later today. I assume their plans also involve updating her social media profiles. The full-page advertisements in both Country Aircheck Weekly and Billboard Country Update were extremely promising, and they seem to have the radio launch properly planned. Not to take away from this song and its release, but Reba has been recording more recently and reportedly cut "Promise Me Love." The song was written by Nikki Shannon Fernandez, Susan Ruth, and Jason T. Miller, and the cut was confirmed by the songwriters on Instagram. I know none of their work, but the title sounds interesting. That brings the number of confirmed tracks for the album up to four: the single, "Promise Me Love," "Enough," and "Love Somebody." Is it April yet? I was watching twitter and social media and I saw two Reba fan sites that were pretty much doing anything with the new single. Reba.com has relaunched with the new Fancy Club. I registered and honestly they made fans wait so long for that? It is absolute crap! They have very little content. Spending all that time I expect the content to atlas match what they had before and they don't even have the RebaNet content up! The team around Reba is doing a really shitty job in my opinion. There is so much they could have done for past albums and I don't see their efforts changing this time around.

The reaction she and the song have received this morning has been incredible. I was extremely optimistic before today, but the support from seemingly everyone has been absolutely wonderful to witness. She has numerous interviews scheduled throughout the day, which means they have done their part in terms of promotion. Her fans have also done their part, considering the song has already charted extremely high. It is currently up to #3 in the Country section on iTunes in the United States, and #2 in the Country section on iTunes in Canada. This is her year. ETA: Absolutely incredible. Those are the only words that even remotely describe this. This is the start of an excellent journey for her, and I cannot believe how perfectly the day has gone considering, not long ago, she was legitimately contemplating and visualizing her retirement. The song continues to surprise me, and has now reached #2 in the Country section on iTunes in the United States, and #1 in the Country section on iTunes in Canada. She's back.

For the ones that have no domestic Spotify service: A "Lyrics Video" version has just been uploaded to YT
Check it out now before it's being pulled again. EDIT: Forgot, to mention that this song is a SMASH!

It would be nice if this could go number one on iTunes country for at least a little while. On the overall list, Tim's at 43 and she's at 45 so she's close.

Just from the snippet I heard on iTunes it sounds like another #1 for Reba! Can anyone tell me what her biggest Billboard hits are? I'd be interested in knowing.

Love this. Catchy, current and still sounds thoroughly Reba. Hoping for big things.
Great sales start. #1 iTunes Country chart and #41 overall. Can't recall any of her previous singles starting that fast.

WhySoSerious?, if new Reba music brings you out of hiding, all the better. Awesome to see she is number one on the country iTunes chart and top 40 across all genres. All hail the queen!

I wonder how high we'll see this on Mediabase tomorrow (if at all). I'm hoping for an appearance of some sort.

The ads in Billboard and Aircheck last night said that this won't be delivered to radio until January 7 at 8am central time. So I think it's tomorrow that it will start getting potentially strong airplay (at least on Cumulus stations), which means that we probably shouldn't expect to see it on Mediabase until the morning of the 8th (at the earliest).

I still have my my doubts about this songs chart chances in the long run, but no kidding, I heard this song on WYRK when I was switching channels just after the noon hour. The deejay Bret Alan said that it was the debut of the song on the station and since I'm so in depth with knowledge of country radio, I believed him. :)

@dawson, you may want to add Rhett Akins to the list of writers as he wrote this song!!!! Written by Ben Hayslip, Rhett Akins and Jason Sellers, “Going Out Like That” was originally written with a male singer in mind but after tweaking the lyrics a little bit, the superstar went into the studio with long-time producer Tony Brown. The song delivers Reba’s signature sound yet remains a fresh and radio-ready tune. Source: roughstock.com/news/2015/01/31830-reba-mcentire-returns-with-a-new-single/

It's fascinating to read/hear that this was originally written from a male perspective. That first verse must be quite different from the demo.
PS. I know its peak is coming soon but it's at 33 on the iTunes all genre chart. Very pleasantly surprised.
