I have not listened to the whole CD yet (trying to save a little something for next week). BUT I did hear "Promise Me Love" and "Just Like Them Horses" and I thought they were both fantastic. "Just Like Them Horses" feels like very classic Reba - a great emotional ballad. And "Promise Me Love" had a very contemporary sound to it. These are going to be the longest 4 days of my life. Come on April 14!

So there are two I haven't heard. Like I wrote above in another post Just Them Horses is an emotional tribute to her father who passed away this year. It's BEAUTIFUL.

I've listened to the whole CD while out droning around Nashville. Quite a bit of Vintage Reba-like songs while a couple of nice uptempo diversions. The title track is like a mash-up of Sam Hunt (percussive beats) and Reba. She could get a few Top 40 tracks on the album

Despite the politics with Nash Icon and Reba's age, judging from the songs themselves on their merit alone do you feel any are worth over Top 40 into Top 20?

There are hundreds of songs that have merited top 20 but politics and/or age and/or gender have stopped that. Welcome to Country radio in the the 2010s.

Will someone who has streamed the album post a review of all the songs? Just a question. 1. Going Out Like That (Rhett Akins, Ben Hayslip, Jason Sellers)Uptempo, strong lyrics. I'm not a fan of the studio tricks on the vocal but, now that I've heard the dance mix, I understand why it was produced this way. 2. Enough featuring Jennifer Nettles (Kelly Archer, Aaron Scherz, Emily Shackelton)Epic duet. This track really is the best thing since sliced bread. If radio will play it, this would be a #1 smash hit, guaranteed. 3. She Got Drunk Last Night (Brandy Clark, Shane McAnally)Ballad. Poignant lyrics. I can really relate to it, even as a man. 4. Livin' Ain't Killed Me Yet (Tommy Lee James, Laura Veltz)Uptempo, a lot of fun, catchy. I think it really fits Reba at this stage of her career. 5. That’s When I Knew (Jim Collins, Ashley Gorley)Ballad. I love the choruses and the bridge. A good selection of the "getting over him" variety. 6. I'll Go On (Ella Mae Bowen, Tommy Lee James)Ballad. Strong woman song for the girl who's experiencing a break-up and needs to move on. 7. Until They Don't Love You (Shane McAnally, Lori McKenna, Josh Osborne)Uptempo. This is a pretty strong selection as well. I love the chorus. I can definitely see myself singing along with it...if I can keep up with the lyrics, that is. 8. Promise Me Love (Nicole Fernandez, Jason Miller, Susan Ruth)Ballad/mid-tempo with a driving beat. I actually love this song and would sing along with it on the radio. More of the studio tricks with her voice but I guess those are more in vogue now. 9. Just Like Them Horses (Liz Hengber, Tommy Lee James)Ballad. Poignant lyrics. As someone else said, I was also expecting more of an explosion from this because of the history between Reba and these particular songwriters. However, the subject matter is very tender and wouldn't be served well by something like that. 10. Love Somebody (Sam Hunt, Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne)Uptempo. To me, something seems very old-school about this even though I suppose it's meant to sound very current. 11. Love Land (Tom Douglas, Rachel Thibodeau)Ballad. I just love this one. Reba is simply the best when it comes to story songs. 12. Pray for Peace (Reba McEntire)Ballad. Unlike others, I actually like it...more than I did when it was first released. Admittedly, you can only do so much with 3 words lyrically but I think it sounds great. Target-exclusive tracks:
13. Whatever Way It Hurts the Least (Brandy Clark, Tommy Lee James, Josh Osborne)Forthcoming. 14. More Than Just Her Last Name (Brandy Clark, Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne)Forthcoming. ------------------------------------------ All in all, I definitely think this album rivals 1994's Read My Mind as one of Reba's best.

A question as I'm new to the board (even though I've been lurking for many years): shouldn't this song have a second thread in the dance forum as we have an official remix version?

It can, it would just need someone to bother starting one. If you'd like to be the one to start the thread, then by all means go ahead. ;)

From the tracks I've heard so far, GOLT, Enough, Until They Don't Love You, Livin' Ain't Killed Me Yet, Promise Me Love, and Just Like Them Horses, they all sounds like they could be singles. Wow, I cannot wait to hear this album in its entirety. I agree with others who say this could be her best album since Read My Mind. Although, I love all her CDs. I think What If It's You was a strong release as well!

Reba Delivers Most "Reba" album In A DecadeThat's a really nice review, makes me even more exciting. I wish radio could put business aside and give Reba the proper treatment she deserves, but miracles don't happen often. I do however want her to get at the very least one top ten. Though, I won't count on it.

Here's my review.
Fans often use Read My Mind (or a bit less frequently For My Broken Heart) as the bar against which to gauge Reba's albums. Personally, I think If You See Him is probably my favorite album of hers so I think Love Somebody is easily the best since If You See Him. Certainly, age has weathered Reba's voice a bit but she still sounds incredible and, if anything, her aged vocals give even a more emotive quality that works very well on ballads. That emotive delivery, along with the fact that the ballads on this record are impressive lyrically, makes the ballads the highlight of the album for me. There are some great up-tempo songs but I find myself drawn back to the ballads most often. I'm a bit turned off by the production on some of the tracks. There are echoes and distortion that I think are completely unnecessary. And perhaps an odd quibble but I think the refrain in some of the songs is repeated a bit too much at the end. Still, those production elements are minor flaws in a solid collection of songs performed with as much conviction as ever by Reba.
1. Going Out Like That (10/10) - This is the perfect song to kick off the album and as a first single, even if the odds were stacked against it from becoming a solid hit. It's a fun song with a sassy vocal performance from Reba. And the theme seems fitting for a lady who has been cranking out hits for several decades and who isn’t ready to give up recording just yet. It would be flawless if not for the unnecessary distortion placed on her vocals in the last chorus.
2. Enough (9/10) - An epic power ballad from Reba and Jennifer. I like how they trade off lines in the verses. It's cleverly written in how each of the alternating lines shows the different perspective between the partner and mistress. Jennifer's high harmonies are insane. It veers a bit toward over-produced but they were probably just trying to keep up with the powerhouse vocals.
3. She Got Drunk Last Night (8/10) - This is most traditional song on the album. The lyrics are not what I was expecting from the title. It is the type of drinking song that country radio needs more of. It has a bit of a sleepy melody but the strength of the lyrics and story carries the song.
4. Livin' Ain't Killed Me Yet (10/10) - Love the infectious melody on this one and the vibrancy in Reba’s vocals. It is definitely the kind of song you know Reba has lived over six decades. I think this would make a good single down the line if Reba’s able to release a few from this album.
5. That's When I Knew (10/10) - This is one of my favorite ballads on the album. I like the contrast between the verses and chorus. The verses focus on the ex and how hard it is to get over him while the chorus describes her feelings for the new guy and how those feelings are ultimately what get her over her ex. Reba's vocal delivery is full of passion, particularly was the final chorus crescendos.
6. I'll Go On (8/10) - The haunting fiddle on the intro sets the stage for this song of resilience. The fragility in Reba’s aging vocals befit the lyrics. She sings this with incredible conviction.
7. Until They Don't Love You (9/10) - Love this rockin’ tune. The play on letters and numbers in the verses are clever. The song seems to play with a couple of different melodies.
8. Promise Me Love (6/10) - This song never really had a chance with me because of the awkward and unnecessary echo effect in the first verse. It’s very distracting. I also feel like this has a bit of a dated feel to it. I do like the lyrics to the verses.
9. Just Like Them Horses (10/10) - Fortunately, Reba rebounds from Promise Me Love with this incredible ballad. Liz Hengber did not disappoint. In fact, this might be one of her stronger songs lyrically. The imagery in the song is so specific and personal and yet I still feel the pain from my own dad’s passing as I listen to the song. And of course, Reba nails this one vocally. When she does the audible sigh near the end, it nearly kills me.
10. Love Somebody (7/10) - I like that this song is different for Reba and it has a cool vibe. I also like the use of the banjo in the song. She soars on the chorus but I’m not overly fond of the lifeless verses. It feels like she has to go lower than usual on the verses in order to comfortably hit the strong chorus but doing that with the particular structure of the verses comes off as a bit weak.
11. Love Land (9/10) - This is a beautiful cover of a Martina McBride album track. It's a nice story song and Reba's vocals are as emotive as ever.
12. Pray For Peace (4/10) - Okay, I've said my piece about this one. The sentiment and bridge are what enable this to muster even a 4 out of 10 for me.

I know I originally suggested Reba may not have gotten any airplay without Nash Icons and there was a possibility this deal was actually helping her more than hurting her, but seeing the really strong digital sales for "Going Out Like That" now has me re-visiting this idea. This is #32 on the iTunes country chart, which is better than 12 songs above this on the Mediabase chart right now. I really don't think as many non-Cumulus stations would have totally slammed the door on this the way they have if Reba had a song selling this well and weren't on the Nash Icons imprint, especially considering how low iTunes sales for country songs have been these days. This might have even had a chance of going Gold with a decent 25-week top 15 run.
Reba may be a 60-year-old woman, which isn't a formula for success on country radio today, but I still don't see why she couldn't have gotten one or two more hits from a big comeback album the way Rascal Flatts was able to get "Rewind" into the top 5. I will go ahead and say that without the Nash Icons politics screwing things up, this could have been a top 15 single and "Enough" could have made a run for the top 20. Hopefully this situation doesn't hurt Reba's album sales too much.

Well I'm hoping for an EPIC video out of this but if not, hopefully they will at least use this footage to get a video out there. I would doubt another video would be made so soon after the GOLT video if they have to go on to another single in a few weeks. I would be shocked if this isn't the 2nd single since there is so much buzz around it.

She got a great review in People magazine this week:
The country music queen continues to rule
Reba's 27th stuido album has a little something for everyone. There are both classic country ballads ("She Got Drunk Last Night", about a woman broken by loneliness) and modern country party anthems (the single "Going Out Like That", about a woman declaring herself unbreakable). But Reba seems most at home with the songs that fall comfortably somewhere in the middle of those extremes. Her brassy tome shines on the sassy "Until They Don't Love You", her storytelling skills deliver in the quietly emotional "Love Land", and her rasy vocals blend beautifully with those of her pal Jennifer Nettles on "Enough". That song ends with Reba expressing the wish that "I still was enough". Well, Reba, you are - and then some.

Oh wow! Reba's CD just got a nice boost on the All Genre Album Sales Chart at Amazon! 2 days ago she was at #41. Earlier today she was #16 & now she is at #7 & the #1 Country Album! All these good reviews plus the A+ promotion that's lined up may make for a really good first of sales!

I usually try to listen to all of her albums before a new one comes out...I've been so busy the last couple of weeks, but I've started with Rumor Has It and am working my way forward from there. If I have time, I'll go back and start listening to the 80s stuff before Tuesday. My top 10 is ever-changing, but probably at the moment: 1. Read My Mind 2. For My Broken Heart 3. Rumor Has It 4. What If It's You 5. If You See Him 6. Keep On Loving You 7. It's Your Call 8. Reba Duets 9. Reba 10. All The Women I Am I'll be very interested to see where Love Somebody will rank.

I've never done anything creative like this in the past but the nerdy superfan in me required that I make this mashup happen once I realized enough footage existed. If anyone is interested, see the video mashup I made below. On the business side, I doubt this remix would ever get a separate video for itself. It's on my Youtube channel (same user name). If anyone from Nash ICON sees this, please let it live on the internet. I'm not making any money off of it and I think a lot of Reba fans will think this is awesome and, perhaps, share it. Wouldn't it be great if something like this went viral around the album release? Reba, as you've never seen her: kicking ass to a driving dance beat...and sounding GOOD doing it! The maxi-single of You Keep Me Hangin' On was great but it wasn't like this. Edit: They already know it's there. We'll see if they let it fly. Edit 2: I got a notice from Youtube stating a 3rd party was claiming it's copyrighted content. However, instead of requesting deletion, they seem to have just made banner ads appear on it. There was a link to the policy on this and I was surprised to read Youtube pretty much encourages users to post copyrighted content with a wink & a nod:

Im surprised some of you only have her 90's and 2000 albums listed. Under my criteria I must list one of her Mercury albums. You all should take a listen to it. When Iist my Top 10 Reba Albums I look for albums that in my opinion have songs that are solid no fillers and that I don't seem to skip. Ones that I feel that most songs could be singles or ones that show her versatility with many styles on 1 album or if the album has a certain theme whether stylistically or message and that objective is successful in all the songs. My Reba Top 10 Albums 1) RUMOR HAS IT 1990 - (My first new album release and my 3rd Reba album. I never get tired of listening to it from beginning to end as arranged on the album. Stylistically it has different styles very refreshing.) 2) UNLIMITED 1982 - ( Biased on this album because it was the very first album I bought of Reba's. a friend told me to check her out. At the time in 1989 I was cheap and for the first album I chose to go to the sale bin. This being released in 1982. Well, it has to be #2 for me because this album got me hooked on the first listen to her voice. If I had chosen her 1981 or 1983 album out of the sale bin I probably would've not have bought another Reba album not discovering my favorite singer. Why you ask I was hooked? Well, this album surprisingly because of the early phase of her career every song on this album does her voice justice her vocals on it are OUTSTANDING. Also it has various styles showing her true talents. I recommend it to check out. So many emotions on this album delivered perfectly.) 3) IF YOU SEE HIM 1998 - (Can't say much more than most say about this album. It's a solid album! No flaws) 4/5) LOVE SOMEBODY 2015 - ( After listening to the stream non stop this week I hope I'm not overestimating this album placing it so high which is why it is 4 or 5. But it seems to be one of her best solid production excellent vocal delivery great messages. And not one filler (other than the one we all won't mention). Why it was put on this excellent album after 2 years of it being online?) 4/5) READ MY MIND 1994 - (this album was very good I wish the title song was a single. In one word the album is Phenomenal! 6) REBA 1988- ( This one again was biased because it was my 2nd Reba album before "Rumor Has It was released further making me fall in love with Reba. Even though it is 8 ballads 2 upbeats the sound of the album the songs are vintage Reba ballads. At the time it was a more country pop production vs her previous albums but it's so pleasing and refreshing to the ear after 4 years of the new traditionalist country albums she was putting out. . There is not one filler. I listen to it from beginning to end.) 7) FOR MY BROKEN HEART 1991- ('This album one of her most emotional due to the plane crash.) 8) THE LAST ONE TO KNOW 1987 - ( Again I must be drawn to the more emotional albums since this was her "divorce" album. For me the album is a solid listen produced perfectly showcasing Reba's last full album of new-traditionalist country songs) 9) IT'S YOUR CALL 1992 - ( This album is another solid one beginning to end because it encompasses where For My Broken Heart left off with the emphasis of sad songs to the more optimistic songs while still throwing in the sad ones showing a person experiencing a tragedy or loss gaining strength and slowly moving on bringing out her vocals. The production reminds me of an updated 90's version of the neo traditionalist production of Reba's albums 1984-1987 holding on to those styles but Making it relevant to the times not dating it.) 10) WHOEVER'S IN NEW ENGLAND 1986 - The production is consistent. From beginning to end making a wonderful listen both vocally and melodically at the same time delivering the emotions she love from her voice and the classic story songs. . I know people say the 1990's is "vintage Reba" I tend to count the mid 1980's "vintage Reba" perhaps that's why it this album is on my list. This is classic Reba.
