Lana Del Rey would have been nominated for a Grammy Award for Honeymoon if her label actually submitted her work as Best Alternative album. why do they keep submitting her in Best Pop Vocal album like seriously Honeymoon isnt Pop! she may be known and have mainstream recognition, but she’s still indie so the Alternative category fits her. that is where many indie artists get nominated. i dont even get how Paradise was nominated for Best Pop Vocal album that time and i get why it didnt win. Ride is undeniably a masterpiece though but seriously, she’s Alternative

Yes, I agree with you about the categories. I still had no idea the artist/label submits their work to a specific category. I never knew that. I just thought all music was judged and voted on allowing the songs/albums to get into whatever category they fell into. Best Alternative Album would have been a great place for Lana to win a Grammy!

The dust has settled, year end best-of lists are out, and I think it's safe to say that Ultraviolence was the more acclaimed album.
...Which I agree with. Ultraviolence was a unique, retro, dark aberration and we're unlikely to get that sound from her again.
Thankful for Honeymoon giving us Honeymoon, Music To Watch Boys To, and High By The Beach, though.

I agree re UV getting more praise but I do think she has much more to give us in this particular music realm in the future.

I agree with the reviews (and people) that think Honeymoon is the culmination of all her strengths but UV is very strong.

You got: “Born to Die”
You are a pleasure seeker, and put excitement and sex above all other things in your life.
***my favorite Lana song so I'm totally satisfied.

You got: “Fucked My Way to the Top” You’re very ambitious, and are willing to do whatever it takes to succeed, even if destroys you.

I wish mainstream radio would embrace Lana. Her music is just so beautiful and it is a shame we do not have more Lana on our airwaves.

I got "Shades of Cool" You like to be the center of attention, and crave the approval of others. You have a lot of pride, which can cause you quite a bit of pain.

I got “Terrence Loves You” You like to live in a neat, orderly world, and prefer to be part of a couple. You hate when life is unpredictable.

Honeymoon was nice but didn't do much for my spirit in the end. But more importantly:
How true!

Please tell me she's soundtracking a future Tarantino film. That's pretty much been her destiny.

I'm always excited for anything Lana related but I wish we got a visual for Salvatore or Terrence Loves You. Freak is definitely the track with the most 'hit' potential on the album though so it's understandable.

"Freak" has actually become one of my favorites on the album. Much prefer this to the ballads (which I also enjoy...). Excited for the video.

Jonathan Saldivar @ Youtube
I agree with that concept. She's Drinking the Kool-Aid (jargon)
I wanna cry at the underwater/afterlife scenes.

I loved the imagery and cinematography but overall I'm a bit underwhelmed cause it moved tooooooooo slow even for Lana's standards. The most exciting part was when the song ended and hoped that she would surprise us and the video would transition to Art Deco/Religion/Swan Song/Kill Kill/whatever.

She's reportedly shooting a new video according to this. I hope it's for a new album cause the annual releases made me greedy but I'd be here for a Salvatore or Art Deco vid too as long as it's over the top and not the usual stuff she's been serving lately. As for the next album I have no clue what she'll be doing. BTD/Paradise were dream-pop, Ultraheaven was alt-rock and Honeymoon was like a hybrid of her previous stuff so perhaps she'll begin a new chapter by doing something completely different. Plus, the Honeymoon vid which she scrapped cause 'nothing really happened' in it was leaked in December and was on YouTube since then but only a few days ago was discovered. Needless to say, it's already been taken down.
