I am not into country music but here in my home state of SC there is a up and coming singer named Justin Anderson. He went to Nashville recently to release his first album.

What are we expecting sales wise for M&T? 15k? Initially I would've thought more, but it's been so long since "Girl In A Country Song" peaked that I think that sounds about right.

I really think it was a mistake not to release their album around the peak of "Girl in a Country Song," but I think these girls will still do alright sales-wise.

I don't believe their album was anywhere near ready back in the fall. They probably had it ready by late winter, but "Fly" was brand new then so that wouldn't have made any sense. I feel like they should have expected the buzz around GIACS to propel it to becoming a huge hit and made sure their album was prepared for a late fall release.

Ah yes, I kinda forgot they held off on releasing their album because they weren't done with it. In the past with other acts, it's seemed more like a tactic to hold off deliberately to (hopefully) get another hit from the record before dropping it. It does seem like an unfortunate choice that they didn't have the record finished when GIACS came out, because usually a lead single comes at the tail-end of the recording process, not the beginning. I'm sure everything will work out for them though. I expect big things for Maddie & Tae.

On May 19, Country Rewind Records will be releasing a new previously unreleased collection of songs from the Country Music Hall of Famer, Connie Smith. Titled Lost Tapes, this project highlights one of country's purest vocalists at the height of her popularity. Source

What are we expecting sales wise for M&T? 15k? If they're lucky. "Fly" has not been the kind of song to get them any sort of traction. Honestly, at this point, I'd hold off on releasing the record til the third single did anything...

Honestly, at this point, I'd hold off on releasing the record til the third single did anything... Then they should of released the album with "Girl In A Country Song", and yes I know the full album wasn't ready, but perhaps they should have reworked the schedule or picked another single. I actually resect BMLG's procedure of two singles before an album but I think in this case it actually hurts since the single isn't as chart friendly as the lead. Now it's obviously difficult to predict the future with the chart incredibly tough right now, but I really believe that it could have worked out better releasing the album after the lead single. That bring said, "Fly" isn't doing horrible. There's enough buzz right now to warrant an album release, and waiting another single would be even more of an unknown.

Maddie & Tae's team was probably smart to select June 2 as their release date too - their opening stint for Dierks starts June 5, and I imagine it was a calculated decision to ensure the CD was available to purchase on the tour as well, as they reach new audiences.

Yeah, I think Maddie & Tae's sales will be fine. They may have been better at the height of GIACS's popularity, but "Fly" is doing well enough and I expect them to continue having success, so holding off on the album even longer would be a big mistake, imo. Nah, I think Maddie & Tae will do better than 15k. If "Fly" can double its audience in the next 6-8 weeks, then it'll be right around #20 (give or take a bit) when the album comes out. Or, alternatively, BMLG could push the album back a few more weeks. I know its release coincides with the start of Dierks' Sounds Of Summer Tour, but I'm very confident that the album will come out this summer, so I don't think it'd be a bad thing for BMLG to push the release back to July or August, when "Fly" will be higher up on the charts (they might not even need to push it back though). "Fly" has been doing better than Kip Moore and Reba have, and it's easily out-paced Dustin Lynch's song. It's only a matter of time before the Rascal Flatts and Gloriana tracks disappear, and there will be others too. "Fly" will be one of the songs that will benefit tremendously when we finally get a housecleaning on the charts.
Keith Urban - Upcoming Album Cuts & Co-Writes (courtesy of Windmills) windmillsmusic.tumblr.com/post/116393603513/keith-urban-upcoming-album-cuts-co-writesSome new co-writers again for Keith (Rodney Clawson, Ashley Gorley), as well as some familiar names and also some names I've never seen before. One track, "Bleeding", was written by Keith along with Amy Wadge and Eg White (yep, Eg White). Never heard of those songwriters before. According to Windmills, one song that Keith has probably already recorded is "High Tide", which was written by Tyler Hubbard, Brian Kelley, and Canaan Smith. The link above has a live performance of the song from Canaan. ETA: Looked up Eg White...he's a very popular British songwriter/producer, having worked with Adele, Florence and the Machine, Sam Smith, Pink, and others. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eg_White

Does that mean we'll get a more 'poppy' Keith Urban or maybe a traditional Urban for the next CD?

Then Keith Urban went gold with For You from the Act Of Valor soundtrack. He went platinum with We Were Us, his duet with Miranda Lambert and gold with Cop Car. Very strange from such a consistent singles-driven artist.

Easton Corbin "About to Get Real" June 30, 2015 Source: Easton announced via Country Weekly Ooh, that's a few weeks later than I originally thought it be. I believe the rumored drop date was May 19th via Hits. I guess it's not that surprising though, and perhaps that will coincide with the releasing of the second single.

I know, I already linked to Eg White's Wikipedia page in my post before you made this one :) And onebuffalo, "Cop Car" has been certified Platinum for almost a year now (I've posted about this several times already). Not sure why it's not on Wikipedia, but it's on the RIAA website. Some of Keith's biggest hits in the 2000's were all certified Gold and that was back before iTunes and digital sales were really popular. I'd imagine that if a song like "Somebody Like You" or "Days Go By" were released in 2008-2009, they would've been multi-Platinum. But Keith was most popular at radio before iTunes even really existed. He's obviously still hugely popular but I'd say his peak years were definitely 2002-2005. Below is a link to Keith's certified singles and albums from the RIAA. "Cop Car" was certified Platinum on June 20, 2014, which was actually 2 months before "We Were Us" was certified Platinum. WWU had crossed 1 million in sales before CC obviously, but for some reason the label didn't get WWU certified until August (it was certified Gold and Platinum on the same day). Fuse was certified Gold in November for shipments surpassing 500,000 units. www.riaa.com/goldandplatinumdata.php?artist=%22Urban,%20Keith%22

Can't wait for Easton's album! I'm slightly bothered that they dropped the 'it's' from the beginning of his album title, but the cover is great and I'm sure the record will be fantastic as his last two were. <3
