Wow! I was thinking Trace was done for good with releasing singles to radio! Glad to see I was wrong.

Montgomery Gentry, one of country music’s most storied duos, has been hard at work in the studio with producer Michael Knox (Jason Aldean, Thomas Rhett), putting the finishing touches on their first new record in over three years. FOLKS LIKE US, the new album from Montgomery Gentry, will release June 9 on Blaster Records through RED Distribution. “Listening back through our older albums, I can definitely hear some growth and maturity in the new music, but Folks Like Us still feels like a Montgomery Gentry record,” shares Troy Gentry. “There are probably a few more introspective moments on the album, and front to back, this might just be our strongest record yet.” Top country websites Taste of Country and The Boot will exclusively preview the tracks from Folks Like Us later this month. The album’s title track is also the duo’s newest single, available now for digital download at iTunes at smarturl.it/mgfolks. “We’re still who we are at the roots,” says Eddie Montgomery. “I reckon, you let it branch out a little bit and you learn. You live and learn, so that’s what we’ve tried to do with this new record.” Montgomery Gentry Folks Like Us track listing: 1.“We Were Here” (Marv Green, Wendell Mobley, Tim Nichols) 2.“Headlights” (Bob DiPiero, Tony Martin, Wendell Mobley) 3.“In A Small Town” (Mike Busbee, Brett James, Justin Weaver) 4.“Back On A Dirt Road” feat. Chris Robertson/Black Stone Cherry (Tommy L. Conner, Troy Johnson, Jack Williams) 5.“Two Old Friends” (Tony Martin, Jessica McCall, Wendell Mobley) 6.“Folks Like Us” (Ash Bowers, Adam Craig, Neal Coty) 7.“Pain” (Al Anderson, Chris Stapleton) 8.“Hillbilly Hippies” (Brett Beavers, Tony Martin, Wendell Mobley) 9.“Better For It” (Chris Stapleton, Jeffrey Steele, Craig Wiseman) 10.“That’s Just Living” (Ross Copperman, David Lee Murphy)

Chris Stapleton's "Traveller" is on pre-order on Itunes today. And you can sample clips of each track. I must say, it sounds very impressive. I wonder if he will get any Grammy nom's for next year? Maybe CMA?? Seems Brandy Clark had a similar path i.e. popular songwriter, great voice, everyone in the industry rooting for her etc. I would love for Chris to get the attention Brandy Clark got after 12 Stories was released. Country music needs him, and more like him

Wow! I was thinking Trace was done for good with releasing singles to radio! Glad to see I was wrong. Sorry for the double post, but yes I too was surprised BBR signed him. But I really like that. For one, we'll get a 15 track album from him (which is their go to for their artists). I love albums with lots of songs to digest. And I think pairing him with Mickey Jack Coans as producer is a good move, considering what he did with Joe Nichols and Randy Houser "comeback" albums. I hope he can put out an album like Joe Nichols did with "Crickets". Have some radio fare friendly ditties, but also some really good traditional -leaning songs.

I didn't realize this until you pointed out, but that label really does enjoy putting out long albums, lol. I don't think that guarantees Trace's album will be 15 songs though it is an interesting observation.

While I do think Trace can score another hit or two, he is 15 years older than Joe Nichols, so once again the age factor plays a role here. Broken Bow Records is definitely a good label for Trace though, and I do think they'll try their hardest with radio success, but I think hopes should be tempered personally.

I.R.S./Nashville has signed Ashley Clark (formerly of the Clark Family Experience) to its roster. Clark's debut album (drop date TBD) has been produced by Mutt Lange and the label will be out promoting the first single, "Greyhound." Source

Randy Travis- On The Other Hand - All The Number Ones
1. On The Other Hand 2. Diggin' Up Bones 3. Forever And Ever Amen 4. I Won't Need You Anymore 5. Too Gone Too Long 6. I Told You So 7. Honky Tonk Moon 8. Deeper Than The Holler 9. Is It Still Over? 10. It's Just A Matter Of Time 11. Hard Rock Bottom Of Your Heart 12. If I Didn't Have You 13. Look Heart No Hands 14. Whisper My Name 15. Three Wooden Crosses OOPS, Warner Bros. where is "Forever Together" (1991), now that was another #1 hit and you need to add it so it can be ALL the #1 hits. So ya it should be 16 number ones but you have 15 here. Source: www.walmart.com/ip/44457210I would have fattened the #1s CD with Randy Travis #2 hits as well (practically all the other chart toppers CDs have them): No Place Like Home (1987), He Walked On Water (1990), Better Class Of Losers (1992), and Before You Kill Us All (1994). I would then get a license for his DreamWorks #2s: Out Of My Bones (1998) and Spirit Of A Boy-Wisdom Of A Man (1999). Then I would get Arista's permission to use the duet version of I Told You So with Carrie Underwood. Add the glaring omission of Forever Together and you have a 22 song CD.

Anyone know when Daryle Singletary's "There's A Little Country Left" album will be out on Itunes? The few articles I read said it would be released phyiscally AND digitally today. So far, nothing yet. And can't seem to find any other news on it. Maybe I'll check tomorrow when I go to buy Darius's album I don't use iTunes so I cannot help on that, but i finally found out the physical version is only being sold through Daryle CD. If anybody is interested, I did buy it that day and got it in the mail already. So a three day turnaround is pretty impressive for standard shipping.

Thank God Alan and George are coming back, I need some new music from them to drown out the newest garbage from Sam Hunt and Thomas Rhett....

I heard about this the other day, and I was really excited because even though it's only 4 tracks, I absolutely love JT Hodges. What I really wanna know is if JT is still on Show Dog. For all we know, it might be just Toby now. Haven't heard anything about Josh Thompson or Native Run, and it doesn't help that Show Dog no longer has a website.

I don't know either but we might find out for sure when this EP gets released. Personally I'm actually hoping he isn't, just for the chance (granted, slim odds, but possible) that another label picks him up if this single is successful digitally and on The Highway.

FWIW, Wikipedia lists Toby Keith, his daughter Krystal, Josh Thompson, and Native Run as the current roster. JT Hodges appears under the 'former artists' section.

Personally I'm actually hoping he isn't, just for the chance (granted, slim odds, but possible) that another label picks him up if this single is successful digitally and on The Highway. I'm right there with you. I want JT away from Show Dog as soon as possible. I'd love to see him get scooped up by Black River, BBR, or BMLG, or even one of the majors, but like you I'm not exactly expecting that to happen - there's just no way for any of us on Pulse to know what JT's label situation is like right now, or what it could potentially be like in the future. BBR and BMLG seem unlikely to add a bunch of new artists right now though, since both have signed several in the past couple of months. FWIW, Wikipedia lists Toby Keith, his daughter Krystal, Josh Thompson, and Native Run as the current roster. JT Hodges appears under the 'former artists' section. I've seen this too, but there's no source for it. I have no idea where they got that info from. I can't find anything about JT's label status online. Like sabre14 said, I think we'll probably have to wait until the EP is on iTunes...they'll list the label that released it.

JT is indie.
But every song he's released has been a big The Highway hit so he'll likely have another hit here.
