Jake Owen says album is halfway done. Talks about a new song called "Everybody Dies Young" which sounds like he could be going for some award buzz. Also, according to this, the lead single choice isn't "official" yet. tasteofcountry.com/jake-owen-new-music/

John Anderson will release a new album titled Goldmine on May 26th. John Anderson, will release his new album, Goldmine, on May 26. Released on his own record label, Bayou Boys Music, the 13-track collection of original material features authentic lyrics and Anderson’s signature sound. The award-winning and hall of fame songwriter wrote or co-wrote 12 of the album’s 13 tracks. Goldmine is an album that was cut with the artist in complete control. Anderson produced the record with long-time friend and producer Joe Spivey. “With Goldmine, I thought, first off, I’m going to take my songs into the studio and make a record like I think it ought to be made, without all those other influences,” Anderson says, “I’m more pleased with the sound of this record than I have been in a long time.” The first single, “I Work a Lot Better” will be shipped to radio on May 11. When asked about the single, Anderson stated, “It was actually Josh Turner’s idea. He is a fine young man, a great talent and a real asset to modern day country music. Josh and I have written several songs together and it’s always a pleasure to write with him”. Raised in Apopka, Fla., John Anderson grew up listening to both rock and traditional country. In the end, Anderson resisted the call of rock ‘n roll and chose to pursue his country music dreams, and is recognized as one of the greatest country singers to ever step up to the microphone and possesses one of the most instantly identifiable vocal instruments in the history of the genre. In 1977, Anderson signed with Warner Brothers Records and had his first major hit in 1980 with Billy Joe Shaver’s, “I’m Just an Old Chunk of Coal (But I’m Gonna Be a Diamond Someday).” Other hits include the classic “Wild and Blue” released in 1982, and “Swingin,” the No. 1 Billboard Country single co-written with Lionel Delmore that would lead Anderson to garner the CMA Horizon Award. Throughout his career, Anderson has produced 23 albums and released more than 60 singles (26 of which charted in the Top 10). He was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame on October 5, 2014, and holds a wealth of industry awards including Academy of Country Music Career Achievement Award. When asked about his upcoming album Goldmine, Anderson remarked, “I’m really proud of this album. At this point, it’s just for me and the fans. A best case scenario for me is if the fans that have loved our music and supported us for so many years know Goldmine is out there, and how to get it, I’ll be happy.” Source

^ I don't know about that cover. Not a great photo of Billy. and the distressed background is odd to me.

Hell yeah, can't wait for this! We all know the title track "Summer Forever" is gonna be the next single and probably compete with Rhett, Eldredge, and Shelton for song of the summer! But with Swindell and FGL writing it, I'll put my money on this one!

I am so glad I am not the only one, who thinks the cover is awful. I know it's the music that matters, but this cover makes it hard to think about the music. Lol! To his benefit, not many of his covers have been that great.

These three tracks look like they'll be pretty solid based on the titles and writers.

2. Drinkin’ Town With A Football Problem Written by Aaron Henningsen, Brian Henningsen, Clara Henningsen, Elizabeth McDavid Elkins and Vanessa Ann Olivarez A lot of intriguing tracks on this record, but this one definitely caught my eye. And it's easily the 'countriest' song on the record (though many songs feel country, even if produced in a contemporary style). There's a mix of every style of song on the radio right now on this record, which does have a light, summery vibe that the cover art and album would suggest. There's some 'talk-y' stuff here and it's very much a Dann Huff production. The best tracks with radio potential are the throwback sounding "Good Night" (this is 2015's sonic trend, folks, 70s AM Radio). "Wake Me Up," "Jonesin'" (not about George Jones), "Do I Make You Wanna" (which feels like a Dan+Shay track). People are gonna likely really hate the title track (which could be the second single) and "Soundtrack" which has the the talk-y, rap-like structure.

"Jonesin'" (not about George Jones) Dang it! That was the one title I was most intrigued by & was assuming it was a nod towards George. Billy has been slowly losing me with every album & with that title track , I'm assuming this record will continue that trend.

The thing that caught my eye the most was the writers! I mean The Henningsens wrote some of the best stuff on The Band Perry's first album but that wasn't even the most interesting part for me. The more interesting part is the last name...is that Vanessa Olivarez the same one that was on season 2 of American Idol! I loved her on there and I love her singles she put out afterwards! I hope it's her and it made me want to like the song before even hearing it!

I'm still waiting for Maddie & Tae's Track listing for "Start Here" The lack of this has me worried it may get pushed back... "Fly" likely will not be top 20 by then (if it ever makes it that far) so I could see this getting pushed back a couple weeks or a month or two to hope for a bigger hit when the album drops.

It's out the same week as Billy Currington's album and we literally just got the tracklisting for that. In fact, they didn't even have the release date announced yet either. So, I wouldn't fret so much about not having it yet. We're still over a month out from the release date.
