How many Christmas albums does one artist need? I'm still waiting on 1 Christmas album from Tanya Tucker and she's been around 40+ years! Also Shania's talked about one since the 90s, so maybe we'll get it by 2030? Speaking of Christmas albums I remember hearing that Reba has one already recorded on Valory that has been sitting there for years now, or that could just be a rumor. They still sell well.

You can say that again. Instead of seeing red and green, Kenny Rogers has seen gold and platinum with these Christmas albums: 1. Christmas-1981-double platinum 2. Once Upon A Christmas-with Dolly Parton-1984-double platinum 3. Christmas In America-1989-gold 4. The Gift-1996-gold

It could be the best-selling christmas record of the season but even if not, I'd be shocked if it didn't shift at least 100k albums by the end of the season. That's more than any of his other recent albums have sold lately and would be a success for WMN.

They don't sell *that* well anymore and a lot of artists don't really even release them except for in the country genre and artists who go after the Adult Contemporary crowd. I'd be surprised if the new one from Kenny Rogers sold as well as Little Big Town's, and comparing it to his past gold and platinum albums from decades ago when the album sales climate was totally different just isn't an accurate measurement to use for today. That said, I don't expect it to bomb or anything and I could see 100k being reachable.

Except that the markets you're talking about are who he's appealing to and the people for those markets buy holiday albums still. That's why I said 100k. I know it's a different world from pre-streaming. Little Big Town's record may do about that too. Unless there's some new timeless song on these records (a song which goes onto becoming a standard and oft-recorded), it's highly unlikely they can get to Gold or Platinum in a single holiday season without massive fan bases that buy any and everything by that artist (IE Scotty McCreery, Andrea Bocelli, Michael Buble and Josh Groban).

Let's also not forget that he'll being going out on his annual Christmas tour for the 34th(!) year this year. He's a Christmas guy so having 8 Christmas albums to go along with that isn't that much of a stretch, especially since he hasn't released one in 17 years.

I think this was a creative way to preview the tracks! Just from the clips I liked the tracks 1-6 and then 11. I agree, very cool and creative way to reveal and preview the tracks. There were definitely some that sounded promising ("Wanna Be That Song", "Illinois", "Lose It All"), but what the heck was up with "You Can't Stop Me" and "Shadow"? I don't like the sound of those at all and the production on some of these weren't promising either, especially "Drunk On Your Love". I'll listen to the whole album when it's finally available for streaming to give a full analysis though. I thought his preview of "Just A Taste" was funny, lol. According to iTunes "You Can't Stop Me" is a duet with Thomas Rhett. Which could explain why it sounds so different.

That was fast. I am hoping for big things with Jennifer Nettles on the Big Machine label. That Girl should have been huge. Love the video!

Artist: Glen Campbell Album: British Live Performance Series Label: Rainman Release date: Sep. 18, 2015
Los Angeles-based label Rainman Records has announced the "British Live Performance Series," an eclectic mix of artists captured live in England. Recorded between 1979 and 1991, the series will cover a wide array of artists and music styles including classic rock, pop and contemporary hitmakers. The first album, out September 18, is a live show from the iconic country singer Glen Campbell. DVDs of most shows will become available as well.
"We're excited to be bringing these U.K. shows to a U.S. audience," says Rainman Records president Ron Rainey. "When I first heard these recordings, I knew immediately we had to release them. They deserve to be heard."
The Glen Campbell project is the now-retired legend's first live album in 14 years, and was recorded in 1990 at the Dome in Doncaster, England. Backed by the Jeff Dayton Band, it features his biggest hits like "Rhinestone Cowboy" and "By The Time I Get To Phoenix." The inclusion of Paul McCartney's worldwide chart-topper "Mull Of Kintyre" allows Campbell to show off his instrumental prowess...on the bagpipes! In complete contrast, Jimmy Webb's "Highwayman" and Ralph McTell's "Streets Of London" are performed solo, with simple guitar backing.

Does anyone have any information on Chuck Wick's new album, Turning Point? He said it would be out September 18th with great pre-order options. I haven't heard anything about a pre-order and the release is right around the corner. Montgomery Gentry (label mates) had pre-order opportunities well before the month of the album's release.

It was mentioned before, but here's artwork on Stoney LaRue's album "Us Time" that is now listed as a 10/16 release on Entertainment One.

I've seen questions about this on Twitter and Facebook. His label is essentially ignoring him at this point (If you look they haven't done anything more than Montgomery Gentry and a couple random acts since June. My guess is based on his singles not faring well, they likely have pushed it back. I don't see a small label fully shelving the album, but who knows. M&G didn't fare much better with their singles. This would be my guess. I can't imagine them just dropping the album without any kind of promotion over the next few weeks.

I realize, "Saturday Afternoon" didn't make a dent on any chart. But, "Us Again" was able to peak higher than any of the two MG singles from Folks Like Us. Ultimately, it looks like the label messed up Chuck's roll out plan, because if MG can get an album out with two singles that are barely in the top forty and top fifty on airplay, Chuck's album should have been released upon the peak for "Us Again" (36, and 37). Now, Chuck has a backseat and his sophomore album is again, up in the air. This guy has talent and deserves to chart well with an album release.

Artist: Chris Isaak Album: First Comes the Night Label: Vanguard Records Release date: Nov. 13, 2015
Chris Isaak’s new album First Comes the Night produced by Paul Worley (Dixie Chicks, Lady Antebellum), Dave Cobb (Jason Isbell) and longtime Isaak collaborator Mark Needham will be released on Vanguard Records on November 13th. Recorded primarily in Nashville and Los Angeles, First Comes the Night is Isaak’s 13th studio album consisting of 12 new songs. A second configuration - a deluxe version with five additional cuts - will be released simultaneously. It is Isaak’s first recording of all original songs in over six years. First Comes the Night is the follow up release to Isaak’s critically acclaimed 2011 Beyond the Sun, his tribute album to Sun Records, Sam Phillips and the visionary artists who helped shape the early sounds of rock n’ roll.
Commented Isaak on his upcoming album: “I totally enjoyed recording in Nashville – a city filled with terrific musicians and what an honor to work with such great producers. As for the new songs, I like to mix it up so there’s some dark ones, funny ones and romantic ones. You have to absolutely play these songs after the break up while you’re cleaning the house.”

I'm a little surprised we don't have a date for Keith Urban's new album yet. Keith's album isn't 100% done (at least the last time i checked...maybe it is l by now and I wasn't aware), so he'll be getting a second single out to radio before the album drops.

Has there been a date revealed for Raelynn's debut album? No. "For A Boy" got buried in the murderous row of spring single releases and failed to do anything at radio.
