"Break Up With Him" is looking to be a pretty big hit. It's already up 203 spins and 1.6 million on MB this week with two days remaining. Its already in medium to heavy rotation at 8-10 stations, including KMLE (Phoenix, AZ) who has spun this song 72 times over the past seven days! 32 of those spins in the p.m. or evening, resulting in 700k of its audience over those seven days.
68 monitored stations by its add date is about as good as any debut single can ask for and there will certainly be more to come over the next few weeks. RCA has not had a debut single from a new artist go top 20 since "You Can Let Go" by Crystal Shawanda (top 20 on MB, #21 on Billboard) in 2008.

Yeah, I've been hearing this one a ton since late February/early March already. Or, I should say, I've been changing the station a ton as soon as I hear the opening notes of this one. I cannot stand this song. There's just something about it that I find really annoying. I don't like the production and I think the lyrics are cringe-worthy, and I also don't think their voices lend themselves very well to this 'style' of country music. But it's shaping up to be a big hit...the signs have been there for more than a month now, even before there were rumors that they were about to sign with Sony.

I have a couple issues with this song too and I find it to be more annoying than any other quality. The chorus is mildly catchy but I was never a fan overall. I'd discuss my reasoning but unfortunately I'm starting to feel like a broken record. The talking, the content, the music. Not a fan.
I'll wait to hear something else from these guys before I make any final judgments on the band itself.

The chorus has been stuck in my head all day. This is definitely gonna be a hit.
I'm not a fan of the talky parts, but I do like the pre-choruses where the words are strung together kind of awkwardly but it somehow works.

I like this song. Having said that - does anyone else out there think the verses sound just like Sam Hunt?

When all is said and done, we'll have The Highway to thank for these guys too. Add 'em to the list of Florida Georgia Line, Chase Rice, Sam Hunt...just some of the brilliant Highway Finds.
The only thing I'm finding on the highway these days is roadkill of country music's past.

I think the lead singer sounds kind of weak and soft, but other than that I like this song.

It's ironic because I really like Brad Tursi as a writer but I just haven't liked anything this band has done so far

I like this song and don't like it at the same time. I can't really decide, lol. Like I find parts of it genuinely catchy and maybe even enjoyable, but as a whole... not really, and I find myself wanting to dislike it. It's the same way I feel about "Kiss You in the Morning" right now, too.

Last week, I heard this song on the way into work. A few hours into my shift, my shift manager played it on her phone when it was slow, because she wanted her cousin (who also works there) to hear it.
The next song she put on was "Pray for You" by Jaron and the Long Road to Love. Which had FIVE of us singing right along.

Talking in country songs is a bad thing? If that's the case, well, country music's had a problem since it was known as hillbilly music in the 1920s and 1930s...

Talking in country songs is a bad thing? If that's the case, well, country music's had a problem since it was known as hillbilly music in the 1920s and 1930s... I know they are your buddies and they are lucky to have you behind them, but I just don't like this song. The talking is annoying. My problem with the content is that the guy is trying to convince the girl to break up with her current guy, presumably to start dating him. But he's saying things like "hey girl" and "I have a little buzz" and "maybe you can lie and say you'll still be friends." Doesn't sound like the type of guy I'd get with if I'm already in a relationship that I don't wanna be in. Also, the piano part of the music sounds annoyingly similar to that Macklemore song ("I can't change" or whatever). It's just another unimaginative song about a guy who's had too much to drink singing about a girl in a less-than-respectful way. Not to mention that yet again, it's another tune where *southern accent* is the only defining country characteristic.

Well, those other cases, it's cause someone called them "rap," this case, it's literally conversational. But I guess as,with everything, it's just a matter of taste.

Old Dominion shot the music video for "Break Up With Him" during CMA Fest and its set to premiere very soon. The video centers around a Back To The Future theme. :)

I actually don't mind this song and think that the Eli Young Band could've done a song like this as their lead single. It may have performed much better than TIO did.

As a lover of Back to the Future, I like that video. :)
(also as a lover of country music, the opening riff where the chord progression is played acoustically is much preferred).

I actually have really grown to like this song...I could see this being a cool theme to go back to, kind of like Tracy Lawrence did with the time travel music videos.

I LOVE the production to this song. The melody, and the lyrics are really good too, but I'm not a fan of the voice(s)...I wish Sam Hunt would've recorded this song. Right up his alley.

Right up his alley. they share Shane McAnally as a friend/mentor/producer so that makes a ton of sense. Shane, however, had nothing to do with the composition of this one (the band wrote it).

3 of the guys in this group are songwriters in Nashville. The lead singer Matthew Ramsey wrote "Chainsaw" by The Band Perry. He also co-wrote with the guitar/keyboard player in the group Trevor Rosen the songs "Wake Up Lovin' You" by Craig Morgan and "Say You Do" by Dierks Bentley. Rosen also co-wrote the songs "Neon" by Chris Young and "Better Dig Two" by The Band Perry. The other guitar player Brad Tursi co-wrote "A Guy Walks Into A Bar" by Tyler Farr and has also written songs for Kenny Chesney, Randy Rogers Band and song for the show Nashville.

I usually try to avoid complaining about how many times I've heard a current song on the radio (since it really could be said for a majority of the top 20 tracks on the chart) but I am so bloody sick of "Break Up With Him." It's literally the worst case scenario in my situation. I have a Sirius/XM radio, so I've been hearing this song since oh I don't know...May of 2014. So I have essentially been listening to this song in regular rotation for 15-16 months now. Just when I was about fed up with it on satellite radio, that's when it gets an add date on terrestrial radio, and I have to endure it for another two months or so.

Noticed that their album (Meat and Candy...such a weird album title) is priced at $8.99 for pre order, rare to see that with a pre order.

Well it's definitely intriguing what looks to be happening with Old Dominion. Their really moving fast this week and looks to land at #2 on both BB and MB. Now with them not hosting CCUSA till after FGL and Cole Swindell do. So I think it's possible for Old Dominion to spend a few weeks at the top. Sony is playing excellently, as it looks Old Dominion is going to spend a couple of weeks on top on Bilboard. As I think FGL and Cole will be MB-only #1s.

Gold at 508,000 in sales. Congratulations, Old Dominion (and on that very likely #1 as well)!

I semi-like this. The instrumentation is good IMO, but the narrator is a complete douchebag in this song.
