Not here for this. Sorry Rih. I don't hate it...it's just whatever. There's a nice melody in there, but the production sounds too cheap and amateur. Kanye sounds odd on this song as well. What an bizarre choice. I just read your post and I agree.

I love this so much to be honest. I actually love the roughness of Rihanna's vocals although I could do without Kanye's verse. I think this is going to be huge.

This SUCKS big time... Radio will likely jump all over this just because it's a new rihanna single... She could have done soooo much better...

Goes to show you that Rihanna really cannot flop these days. Good for her.

I am the first to agree that she could have released something a lot better. Not only because I believe this ranks low amongst her leads for me (I'd still rank it above SOS and with time maybe PDR), but also because I want her, as a fan, to release the best damn music possible. However, I also applaud her/her team for taking a risk and releasing something completely different sonically but that still has some pop elements. I love that she didn't play it safe and kept us all guessing.
And it's really impossible to please everyone: Had she released a super safe pop track, people would have said something along the lines of "Oh, 2 years and this is what we get? Seems like she was afraid of flopping and played it safe. She could have done better, has been around for some years", etc etc. But she released something people were not expecting and there is also criticism. It was inevitable. Could she have released a good pop track? Of course she could but even in that case, people would find something to point out and criticise if they didn't like the song.
Whether this flops or smashes, it's a cute track which I'm very fond of and I'm very glad she released. :)

This SUCKS big time... Radio will likely jump all over this just because it's a new rihanna single... She could have done soooo much better... I disagree. A big name and hype alone is not enough to make something a radio hit. Look at Unconditionally, Katy Perry was basically as big as she was ever going to get, but a poor single choice still failed to make it to the top 10 on the Hot 100. Judas is another good example. If the song is as bad as you guys are saying, what will happen is that it'll increase quickly until callout scores come in, and then it'll stall out.

DJ Mustard better come the fuck through on Friday. I've been so THIRSTY for new Rihanna for so long now. I can't wait much longer, really. But despite trying to force myself to enjoy, I just hate this song so much more with each attempted listen. It's not a simple case of a "disappointing" lead single. It's like... actually really awful.

It was number 3 in the top five most wanted last night on my CHR.

Were talking about initial hype not necessarily the entire chart run. In fact both songs are perfect examples of initial hype. I still think that Unconditionally failed because people and radio wanted Dark Horse and it would performed better if it was released as third single after Dark Horse. This is riding on the initial hype, it's not only the lead single for Rihanna (which is always big by itself and even more this time because she waited a little more) and has two big names attached, so the initial reaction is going to be big for sure. Of course that doesn't mean the song will do that well in the end, it's not that unusual that songs that start that strong end underperforming (even when they don't underperform generally there's a sensation of not being as big as they seemed at first). We have the reaction to Fergie and Gwen's singles recently. Radio played them at first, and they stalled near top 20. Anyway, if that happens to Rihanna, it won't be a problem, she always have another hit on store ready to be released- In my opinion when you take risks, sometimes works, sometimes no, but always revitalize your career (if it's not a flop that drown it, of course). In my opinion some of Rihanna's flops are better songs than some of her hits. And it's not that rare in very successful artist that some of the songs that underperformed end being one of their signature songs. Anyway, it's too soon to know if this will be a big smash or a dissapointing flop. Right now it looks promising

Under Cool New Music on All Access if you haven't listened yet (since they're lacking on the Spotify and YouTube front).

I was hoping this would grown on me after a couple of days.. but it's grown off me.. Sorta the same only difference I liked it on first 2 or 3 LISTENS then it has sunk in and grown off me. Nothing about it is catchy or memorable to me maybe it was just that it was different and I liked that but now i got use to the song all the warts are showing.

I keep listening to this song but I just can't seem to like it. I was really hoping for something different from her as a lead single but I guess we'll just wait and see what happens with this song.

This is awful. Just shows how Pop radio instantly jumps on its favorites even though the material they put out is garbage.
