Curious as to what you thought of this one? Considering that it is not the easiest fare, I struggled at first but then enjoyed it after the third listen. The play of the instruments is really great. The three highlighted tracks are immediate and outstanding. On third listen also "Baby Baby Baby (Baby)" got the thumbs up. I still have "The Mountain" CD (Steve Earle and the Del McCoury Band) sitting on my desk; actually it's been lying there for quite a long time and I have never managed to give it a listen (was a gift!)

zack97, just look past the cover. There's actually country songs on the record (the preview track "Withdrawls" is great but it's a crossover type of song, the only one like that on the album).

Totally envy you for the advance copy of Tyler Farr's upcoming release! :) Good on you. Enjoy! @ zack97 The cover is terrible indeed!

Rhett Akins: "What Livin's All About" (1998)More Than Everything What Livin's All About The Rest Of Forever Better Than It Used To BeI don't even remember why I have this in my collection! Total blank.** This CD needs more than one listen; felt like bland 90 ish country, bit generic with an unfortunate sequence of titles and mess of styles on the CD. With time you'll appreciate some very good lyrics and the better tracks which are clustered at the end. The tracks linked above are really great. No candidate for the Hall Of Fame but very enjoyable. Trivia: Rhett Akins is the father of Thomas Rhett ** And... I still don't know why I purchased this but... I am happy I did! :)

Houndmouth: "Little Neon Limelight" (2015)Sedona
How is that? I'd consider buying it if I heard some input :) It's very # TrendyHipsterMinimalAlternativeCountry. The whole album is very quite, it chugs along with very sparse instrumentation and vocals with the exception of a couple of tracks which are heavy on Moog and pretty late 60s & early 70s infused. I use it as background/lounge music when I'm too tired of country-pop and too absent minded for demanding stuff. Here you can sample the album: YouTube - Houndmouth: "Little Neon Limelight" (Full Album)

Garth Brooks: "Scarecrow" (2001)No sound snippets found! Very, very strong album. The pinnacle of commercial country and the 90s. "Mr. Midnight" always gets some extra plays If you don't know it give it a try. There's practically no filler.

Darius Rucker: "Southern Style" (2015) Homegrown Honey Southern Style
"Homegrown Honey" was getting on my nerves so badly that I had mixed feelings about this set. I could not have been farther from reality; this album rocks. It's accomplished, musically rich and beautifully executed. The production is A+. The duet with Mallary Hope is a match made in country heaven (mind you, I love ballads and quieter songs): "Need You More" is pretty solid, as well. If you want a mainstream country album which has southern country charm written all over; this is for you and you cannot go wrong with it. The year is young but this has potential to end up high in the year end lists.

One of my favorite albums, trebor. 29 minutes of perfection. Today I've listened to: Dwight Yoakam - Second Hand Heart (2015) Reba McEntire - Love Somebody (2015) The Yoakam album is excellent from start to finish, and the Reba album is really uneven and is very overproduced at times, but has some excellent cuts, especially on the Target edition.

One of my favorite albums, trebor. 29 minutes of perfection. I love it, too. I'm really enjoying discovering sounds of the past; and here I stumbled across a real nugget! Shame the audio snippet is bad. Will have to get the 30th Anniversary CD from Amazon :)
