I'd be thrilled for Runaway June! Think it may be a little too late for them, but who knows! Not a lot of options on the charts right now. We'll likely see some new artists launched early next year though I agree. I saw them October 2016, and they mentioned an album then, and here we are, 14 months later and nothing. I really wonder if people will remember they exist when an album is released.

how about Jillian Jacqueline? She's everywhere in Spotify major country playlists and probably getting traction also.

If I had to pick, I'd say BMLG would be gunning for Runaway June, as Danielle has had a fair amount of success digitally with this album release already. As much as I would be happy with either, I'm also hoping for RJ. They aren't on the same label family. Runaway June is on an imprint of Broken Bow, so BMLG won't be gunning for them over Danielle Bradbery, lol. I feel like it is going to be Bradbery....but not with Sway. With Worth It. iHeartRadio wants to back someone with staying power, and as much as I like the Runaway June girls, I feel like Danielle fits more with the radio mold right now, and has a better shot longterm. Well, Danielle's current single is "Sway" so if she is selected for OTV, it'll be for that single. They wouldn't be picking her now if it's for a different song that isn't an option. Based on sales and impact, Danielle Bradbery seems like the best option of the two, but I personally prefer Runaway June and "Wild West" by a wide margin. I don't think Lindsay Ell's "Criminal" can be ruled out as a potential pick either. And... at the end of the day... there's still no guarantee a female act is next either. They've been good about bouncing back and forth lately, but there's no requirement a female artist or group is selected this time around.

I seriously think if it wasn't for the fact that both Lindsay Ell and Danielle Bradbery both released their albums already, I think one of those 2 would be the frontrunners. Even back in 2014 and early 2015, the acts they selected (Dustin Lynch, Michael Ray, Sam Hunt) none of them has yet to release the albums that would accompany those singles.
The trend of alternating between female and males is probably going to stick. That I'm sure of.
I don't know if I see Jillian Jacqueline as her label hasn't seen that much success (Chris Lane has had a #1 song and Morgan Wallen's current single is off to a great start, but both haven't been the biggest of sellers). She is definitely a possibility but I have doubts.
Also even if there was a male being picked. Who would they have to pick from? Brandon Lay's song is pretty old. Maybe Morgan Evans but he's on the same label as Devin Dawson so that's why I don't see him getting it.
I do think there's some intrest in the next OTV pick. I remain confident it'll be a female, but I wonder if maybe Lauren Jenkins could get it. From what I recall she is supposed to have a new single soon named "Give Up The Ghost", maybe the label pushed that back for a Q1 release for possible OTV.
Sorry, there's so many scenarios going through my head about who the next On the Verge selection could be.

I really fail to see why an artist couldn't be chosen for OTV just because their album is already released. Just because it hasn't happened before doesn't mean that it won't happen, imo. Several artists who have been picked previously like Lauren Alaina and Craig Campbell had already issued debut albums prior to their being chosen for OTV, even if the singles that were benefited from the program were from their sophomore records.

But when Craig Campbell did it, OTV was in its early stages and I don't think it was quite as developed of what they wanted to do. As for Lauren Alaina same thing in the sense that yes she did have her debut album already out long time ago, but the song picked didn't have the album already out supporting it. Where as Danielle Bradbery or Lindsay Ell already do have those albums out, so that's why I'm extremely hesitant. My thinking is that OTV has entered a system kind of, and that they would just stick with their bread and butter of what they've been doing now for 2 and a half years. I'm making sense hear and you get where I'm coming from, right?

I'm making sense hear and you get where I'm coming from, right? Not really. There's zero evidence to me that OTV bases their selections off whether an album has or hasn't been released yet, and I don't think it is a heavy factor at all. Runaway June would be a lovely pick and the best choice out of all the options I see from a quality standpoint imo, but I'd be surprised that OTV would select them over Lindsay or Danielle *just* because they haven't released their debut album. That seems silly. The other two girls have proven they can move the needle more than Runaway June has so far, even if it's not by much (since their low airplay is holding them back), so I feel like if I were OTV looking at the numbers, I see "Sway" as a potential sales smash like "My Church" but Runaway June is looking more like a Chase Bryant right now in terms of impact. "Lipstick" had terrible sales for a Top 30 hit, and a female group is unfortunately an even tougher sell than the already tough solo female at country radio. Honestly, I'd be over the moon if "Wild West" was chosen for OTV, but there isn't a whole lot that suggests to me that they're the smartest investment to gamble on.

As was discussed in the Lindsay Ell thread, "Criminal" has suddenly picked up a suspicious amount of adds before her add date! Album already being released or not, I think we can safely add Lindsay to the list of potential OTV picks

I still wouldn't be shocked if what I think happens but I am open to the possibility that Lindsay Ell could be OTV.

It amazes me how influential how much the On The Verge program catapults these songs. Getting named OTV is virtually a guaranteed ticket to the Top 10 and more times than not the top 3 on the charts. IF RaeLynn could have had "Love Traingle" as her song way back then instead of "God Made Girls" (I can't stand her voice in that song at all) she would've at least made the top ten then, too.

My apologies if it’s already been said, but is there a reason we have two OTV selections this month??

My apologies if it’s already been said, but is there a reason we have two OTV selections this month?? I don't think they've ever said why. The weirdest thing to me, however, is that about 2/3 of the typical amount of OTV support seems to be going to Mitchell Tenpenny, and only about 1/3 of the typical amount of OTV support is going to Jimmie Allen. Jimmie's bullet on Mediabase is only 88 right now, and Mitchell's bullet is 298. Normally an OTV song will have a bullet in the 300-500 range for a couple of weeks as it surges into the top 30.

Personally I found the lyrics of "God Made Girls" a billion times worse than her voice, especially since one of the most laughably anachronistic, childish, and misogynstic songs I've ever heard in my life was WRITTEN BY FOUR WOMEN.
