"Work Song" is a track from Hozier included on his self-titled debut album, as well as on the "From Eden" EP, which he mentioned (around the 1:50 mark) that this will be the next single to push on the radio at the 2015 GRAMMYs Red Carpet.

Eh, not one of my favorites on the album. I wanted either "Someone New" or "Jackie and Wilson."

This is probably my favorite after "Church," so I'm thrilled by this news. I'm glad they pulled the plug on "From Eden," which was their initial choice. That being said, I have to admit that it's certainly not the most radio-friendly song. When his album was first released, however, and after the Beats commercial first appeared, "Work Song" was typically the best selling track after "Church," making it inside the top 200 on iTunes. So, it has definitely shown potential in terms of sales, but the question will be if it can get a decent amount of airplay.

Impacts AAA on March 16, according to R&R. (ETA: and Alt the next day)

This is my favorite song on the album, hope it's rightfully huge. Never expected in as a single though

I liked "From Eden" better so I'm kinda disappointed it's apparently gotten scrapped on alternative but this is alright too, I guess. Maybe this time around he'll find some legitimate second single success.

In other words, this is the death knell for From Eden.

This sounds like a carbon copy of Take Me To Church, not very good. Why he's passing on the far superior "From Eden" for this is mind boggling.

I wanted Jackie and Wilson or Angel of Small Death and the Codeine Scene...

It's also under CNM on both Alternative and Triple A formats according to AllAccess. Moreover, it's on a single package, including the album version and the Scheps radio edit.

That was just a duller "Take Me to Church". I don't get it.

I'm pissed they scrapped "From Eden" for this song since it's far better and more radio-friendly.

Now Hozier announced that they are releasing a music video for "Someone New" on Monday, featuring Natalie Dormer! For goodness' sake, would they just decide what the next single is going to be! "Work Song" is being sent to Alternative and Triple A in a couple weeks, so I really don't understand why they are releasing a "Someone New" video before a "Work Song" video. Unless they are going to send "Someone New" to HAC and CHR. Who knows at this point...

I remember that "From Eden" and "Someone New" were listing as an upcoming releases in the UK back in October. The former was supposed to be released officially sometime in December, while the latter in February. However, as you may assume, both of them were cancelled because of "Take Me to Church", which began climbing and get some attention there after his self-titled album was out. Personally, I'm not so into dual releases, but I think his team is planning to do this with "Work Song" in America and "Someone New" in the International markets since it's doing well on Ireland, where it's currently inside the Top 50 on iTunes.

I should congratulate Hozier - for the third song in a row he's managed to bore the ever-loving crap out of me.
At this rate I'm kind of hoping he becomes a one-hit wonder.

Yeah, the timing of everything seems strange. From Eden feels old to me now and it's already peaked on Triple-A hasn't it? It was getting play on CBC Radio last fall and the local AAA station has been playing it for a while now. CBC is now on Someone New. And then Work Song gets thrown in there as if it means something. From Eden should be being sent to all formats right now (other than AAA) while AAA gets Someone New.

Hozier performed "Work Song" on the Tonight Show w/ Jimmy Fallon last night! It seems to have been well-received--the track is now up to #118 on iTunes.

Once again, his label continues to bewilder! After performing "Work Song" last night on The Tonight Show, Hozier was on The Today Show this morning, and instead of playing "Work Song" again, he played "From Eden," which the hosts described as his new single! No idea why he would play a song that the label already pulled the plug on.

How does the audience differ from both shows? Late night tends to be more on the rock side while daytime is more mainstream and pop, isn't it? Maybe there's a dual-release going on.

Yes, that is an accurate characterization of the differences in audiences. They already pulled the plug on "From Eden," however, right before it was going to be sent to Alternative, so I find it highly unlikely that they would send it to pop radio (if they did a dual-release, I would expect them to send "Someone New" to pop since they just released a new music video of the track with Natalie Dormer). In any case, I fear this "Eden" performance, given the fact that they already switched gears away from "Eden" to "Work Song," will only further make radio programmers scratch their heads.

Suddenly, "Jackie & Wilson" is announced as the next CHR single. /sarcasm And then "Someone New" is announced as the next Hot AC single, "From Eden" swaps places again with "Work Song" on Alternative, and "Angel of Small Death" is announced as the next Triple A single :)

Hozier releases every song off his album at once and tells the stations to figure it out.
