Would it be too horrible of a pun to say this song sucks?

This song has #1 written all over it; I heard it for the first time yesterday on Whitney Allen's show, and it is hysterical!!!!!!
The CD should be out sometime in June.

It's okay...I really like parts of it, musically, lyrically, and vocally, but don't like parts of it. Sounds like there's too much going on with the instruments. I don't like the "ooooooh" part too much. It's an OK song: least it differentiates itself from other singles on the charts.

The CD will be released on June 12th, the same day as Toby Keith's 'Big Dog Daddy'.

I'm usually not the biggest Brad Paisley fan — I actually haven't bought any of his CDs — but I'm definitely going to get this one when it comes out and maybe TWW too. This song is awesome... my favorite of the year. Funny without being cheesy.

Up to #17 after 4 weeks. It also reclaimed the "Most Increased Audience" title from George.

I'm a Brad fan and I like the guitar in this song, but that's about it. I understand the "ticks" line is supposed to be humorous, but I think he could have done better with the hook. Every time I hear this song on the radio, afterwards the DJ is chuckling. Is this song really that funny?
I thought Who Needs Pictures was solid, while Part II and Mud on The Tires were terrific. I was a little disappointed with TWW, although it had a few good ones but this song is "eh" to me. We'll see what else what else he comes out with on his upcoming album.

They actually pushed back Brad's album release to June 19th, which is a good move in my opinion since he won't have to compete with Toby for #1 on the country albums chart.

Hot shot debut on the Hot 100 this week at 40! I'm really liking this, but its bullet has decreased from 600+ to 300+. That got me worried, but 300+ is still a pretty good bullet. Hopefully it will manage to hit top 3 at least.

I could easily see this stalling at #4 just like "Alcohol" did. (However, Alcohol was more the victim of a massive chart logjam in 2005, I would say.) I am curious to see what's on his next album though. Maybe a remake of David Kersh's "Another You", which Brad wrote before he was famous? (Wishful thinking.)

His timing looks awfully good for reaching #1 -- by the time he hits the top 5, Kenny and Tim will be out of the way, Carrie will have peaked, RF and Sugarland will be reaching the end of the line. This song looks stronger than Toby's, so I don't see what will stop it -- unless, of course, people tire of it early. That's always the risk with a cutesy song. But I expect it will be his 4th #1 in a row.

I was just wondering if any of you could go into detail about this chart logjam. I love storytime.

Songs would spend forever in the same place, or only move up one space, for a very long time. Several songs, by my count, racked up 15-20 weeks in Top 10 territory. "Alcohol" just got stuck - first it spent ages at #5 behind Brooks & Dunn, Faith, Sugarland AND Toby; then it spent a few weeks at #4 behind Montgomery Gentry, Sara and (surprise!) Toby. There was one streak where the Top 5 stayed the same for three weeks straight; for two of those three weeks, #1-#7 stayed the same.

Wow, too bad for Sugarland. They waited for Toby to be finished at #1 only to be passed by Faith once Toby peaked.
Jon, thanks for correcting me on the Sugarland single. I just guessed by going on wikipedia.

I do remember that Faith replaced Toby at #1 WITHOUT a bullet (at R&R); both songs were down in spins and audience from the previous week, but the R&R/Mediabase points system in use at that time gave Ms. Hill the #1 slot by a very small margin.
Jonsolo---SUPERB piece of research---thanks!!!!! ' And I also agree with Zazie (big surprise there!!!)--'Ticks' should breeze into the #1 slot by Memorial Day.

not sure where to put this but I found this on tennessean.com
Brentwood High backs up Brad
This may have been one homework assignment that Brentwood High School students didn't mind completing.
The BHS band, led by Randal Box, will record a song today for Brad Paisley's album. They were given sheet music for "On Line" about a week ago to prepare. "They are excited," says mom and school volunteer Lisa Morrow. "We feel very honored to be selected to participate in this endeavor. It's not every day that we get a call from a professional musician to partner in this way."

Saw Mr. Paisley in a STELLAR concert last week with Sugarland, Phil Vassar and Josh Turner.
He sang a song off the new record 'I'm Still A Guy' and it was HILARIOUS. You will all love it.

You have to give us some details now haha. Do you remember any of the lyrics? Yeah, it's basically about how the things guys do for women doesn't mean they are any less manly. I think one of the lyrics went something like 'I'm the guy who will hold your purse' and then later 'and the same guy who will clock someone because they grabbed your butt'. Those aren't the exact lyrics, but that is the idea. It's a great song and everyone laughed after every set of lines. Truly a crowd-pleaser.

I just have to get this out of my system...
If he's checking her for ticks, will she shave his back hair in return? And then will they swap each other's chewin' tobacco?

I just have to get this out of my system... If he's checking her for ticks, will she shave his back hair in return? And then will they swap each other's chewin' tobacco? From Brad's newsletter. Climbing all over the charts... The first single off of 5th Gear, "Ticks," has already infested the Country Singles' Chart! After only four weeks on the country airplay charts, "Ticks" is already in the Top 20!!! Penned by Brad with Kelley Lovelace and Tim Owens, " Ticks" recently sucked praise from Billboard’s Deborah Evans-Price, who cheered, "If the roar of laugher coming from country programmers in attendance was any indication, here is Paisley’s next No. 1.... with what may be the most countrified way ever of expressing lust... Leave it to Paisley to redefine romance, while making country listeners laugh out loud." If you haven't heard "Ticks," call your country station and request the song, or head over to Brad's MySpace to stream the full track here and add Brad as a friend while you're there! While the song is crawling with Paisley’s characteristic humor – and meant to be taken as such – it’s important to note that non-musical ticks present a potential health hazard
