It would be great if he can sell over 200k in the first week with 5th Gear.

I'm so glad that he has steadily been getting more popular instead of being a one or two hit wonder. Good job Brad. I'll predict he'll sell more than 193,000 in the first week with this new album. But that's about as far as my prediction goes.

I really hope this song gets to #1 and is not held at 2, we'll have to see what happens with Emerson Drive. I love playing it for my friends who don't listen to country cause everytime he gets to the line "I'd like to check you for ticks" they give me the weirdest looks like what are you listening to? haha.

I REALLY hope this hits the top spot and puts Brad on the brink of superstar status, if he's not already there.

There's been a LOT of discussions on this board as to whether or not he IS a superstar.
My answer is yes.

He is my favourite currently recording male singer by quite some distance so I am pleased for the growing success that he is acheiving
It can only help him also that he has a duet with carrie on the album which from the clips sounds awesone.
As for ticks I was unsure about it at first but have become addicted to the song ....

There's been a LOT of discussions on this board as to whether or not he IS a superstar. My answer is yes. He's shown the ability to produce consecutive #1's and multi-week #1's, and he sells a lot of albums. Not sure what he needs to do to become a superstar that he hasn't already done, and he's sustained his strong radio position for several years now. If he's waiting for official "superstar" approval from the Pulse board, then I move we send him the letter on our official stationery. Rowdawg, let's get this show on the rowd.

Here's someone else who's had a beef with his record label. According to a VERY nice profile on him in the current issue of BB, his label wanted a GH CD, and 'Waitin' On A Woman' would be the first single.
But he won the dispute, telling his label that he still had quite a few songs within himself that he wanted to release promptly, since he was about to become a father, and other aspects of his life.

I'm glad they let him do a fifth studio album before releasing a greatest hits album. Rascal Flatts will be releasing their fifth album also, and I believe they've had more success at radio. If they did do a greatest hits album, releasing "Waitin' On A Woman" would seem kind of cheap to me. I would have no problem if they released it as a single from Time Well Wasted, but releasing it as the lead single from a greatest hits album when most fans already own the song on CD seems like the worst thing they could've done promotion wise.

Hmmmm... I just realized that none of his 1st singles off of an album have hit #1. Interesting.

Oh wow. That's interesting, thanks for sharing. I think it would have been idiotic to release Waitin On A Woman from a GH CD. I would have LOVED it as the final single of TWW. But oh well, we get a new album instead. I'm glad Brad got his way. I guess he's big enough now to where he has a say.

Hmmmm... I just realized that none of his 1st singles off of an album have hit #1. Interesting. "Ticks" should change that. His biggest competition right now are the songs from Toby and Tracy, and I can't see either of those songs passing him. If "Ticks" does hit #1, it would be four straight #1 singles for him. If he releases the Carrie Underwood duet as the second single, he would have an excellent shot to make that five straight #1s.

I agree; if he had released 'WOAW' as the final single from his superb 'TWW' CD, I'd had no problem with that, and would certainly have wanted for 'WOAW' to hit #1.
Nevertheless, since 'Ticks' would appear to be a near-lock to hit #1 after 'Moments' concludes its stay (two-weeks max) on top, that's not too shabby either.
Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if his CD beats Toby's first week numbers for 'Big Dog Daddy' either!!!

5th Gear is now available for pre-order on iTunes, with pre-order only bonus track: "You Love Me So Good."

5th Gear is now available for pre-order on iTunes, with pre-order only bonus track: "You Love Me So Good." All these iTunes bonus tracks are getting me angry. I would have no problem if they could be purchased separately, but that's not that case. I wouldn't even have a problem if the bonus tracks were available to purchase separately a month or two after an album is released. That would keep the albums' iTunes sales up while still allowing fans to purchase the bonus tracks separately. If people don't buy the full album from iTunes in the first couple of months, they probably are not going to purchase the full album from iTunes at all.

I don't think he's done yet -- his bullet's still (barely) present. I wouldn't be too surprised if he missed #1 -- after all, "Alcohol" only got to #4 (granted, it wasn't the best choice for a leadoff single anyway).

Even if Tracy sneaks in a week at #1, Brad could still have a shot to get to #1 before Montgomery Gentry. Brad is also releasing his album in about 9 days, so that should give "Ticks" a boost.

I'm praying this misses #1 since I just don't like this song. I do however like Brad. He has a great smooth voice but sometimes it seems as all his songs are sang in the same way even though he changes up what type of song he releases as singles.

For an artist with as much talent as Brad Paisley it is a shame to hear such a distasteful song. The song was well produced but not a song that deserves a #1 spot when there are other songs out there that are much more deserving.
