Too bad it had to take Paul Walker's death to launch Khalifa back to relevance. If only it was for the fact that he actually makes good music again now #onecandream You don't need to be played on top 40 to be relevant. There is successful music that does not get plays on CHR pop. I'm actually referring to his recent music, which is trash in my opinion. The last hit he had on Urban was "We Dem Boys". Before that, nothing really substantial. And to argue that this song would be as successful as it is now without it being recorded for Paul Walker's death is completely delusional

And you can release a song in homage to a beloved actor and totally fail. Fast and furious fanchise always catch attention, the song he released last year sold very well the first week but it didn't catch people's attention, in this case it's different. The truth he is following the exact formula that made hits of Love the way you lie, Fancy, Black Widown or Can't hold us. It's difficult to know if this would be as big as it is without being a tribute song, but i think it would be a hit anyway

You know, this song can easily be repurposed into a high school/college graduation song or something like that. The fact that people can relate to it in so many different ways is helping making it the big hit that it has become. Even though it was written about Paul's death the song is connecting in so many ways.

#1 in callout: 102 potential, 75.9% positive, 39.2% favorite, 11.4% negative, 2.9% heavy burn. Those are the best figures on the chart for every column. Familiarity is 80.9%; pop score 82. O @ them coming out with their survey on Monday. -_- (They were showing no report at all the entire weekend.)

I sense another 10+-week reign on Billboard in the making: www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6546364/wiz-khalifa-hot-100-jason-deruloWiz Khalifa Rules Hot 100, Jason Derulo Hits Top 10"Again," released on Atlantic Records and promoted to radio by Roadrunner Promotions, spends a third week at No. 1 on the Digital Songs chart with 316,000 downloads sold (down 16 percent) in the week ending April 26, according to Nielsen Music. The track notches a third week at No. 1 on both Streaming Songs (24 million U.S. streams, down 2 percent) and the subscription services-based On-Demand Songs chart (8.6 million, down 1 percent). Despite accounting for just 12 percent of its Hot 100 chart points, airplay for "Again" keeps surging, too, as the single bounds 18-11 on Radio Songs with a 53 percent blast to 74 million all-format impressions. It nets top Airplay Gainer honors on the Hot 100 for a second week.

The lyrics don't explicity mention death, so it can be taken in many different ways, allowing the song to connect with many different people. It was recently overwhelmingly voted in my school as our senior class song.

I don't usually like Wiz Khalifa but I can get into this. Great song and I'm glad to see it headed towards #1 pretty much everywhere.

When is the last time a Black Rapper lead artist got a number one on pop? I honestly can't remember. Flo Rida with "Good Feeling" and "Whistle" in 2012. But if you don't count him, then it would be B.o.B with "Nothin' On You" in 2010 ("Airplanes" was stopped at #2).

Who would have thought Wiz would be slaying the pop charts in 2015? I always thought Black and Yellow and Young, Wild and Free were just fluke hits... But he just keeps coming back lol
Also these updates tho.
