Loved it. Thought I was crazy for being hooked within the first few seconds. But, it is a stellar song, IMO.

Went ahead and moved this back into the country forum. UMG Nashville's Facebook page confirms that this is the first single from Chris' upcoming album, although I'm still not sure if they'll give this much of a radio push...mostly because I kinda think they know radio isn't all that likely to play Chris, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I'm just glad that we'll be getting the album in May. If this manages to get some airplay at radio, that would be excellent, but I'm not holding my breath (I will be ecstatic if it does get airplay though!)

Great song but no way this cracks the top 40, maybe not even top 50. I think Mercury is content in giving radio a song to help promote the release of Chris' album but there's just no buzz surrounding this song and I would have little doubt in radio giving this a true shot even if it was to be pushed hard by Mercury.
I'm just glad that he will finally get his album out there and a single always helps fans like me. :)

I think Mercury is going to try to follow Sturgill Simpson's approach with Metamodern Sounds in Country Music. A fantastic album with glowing reviews, positive word of mouth, and some late-night performances. I feel like there's some buzz around Chris and his album will sell decently even without radio support.

This feels decently suitable for AAA radio too, though I don't know how likely it is they'd give it a push there too (if anywhere at all). I like it - glad I happened upon the "What Are You Listening To?" thread a while back so I got to know his music a bit.

Good golly I love this guy's voice. So proud of the "hometown hero", even if I don't really know him well.

I was hoping for so much more here. This just doesn't seem to be the game-changer I was expecting from Chris.

I would say anything that isn't bro-Country or this polished male-pop Country is a game changer in today's Country world. I love this song!

Dude has an absolute killer voice. Seriously in the top 5 best vocalists I've ever seen live! He's in that David Nail, Randy Houser, Chris Young, Chase Bryant upper echelon type of territory.

Chase Bryant before Jimi Westbrook of L.B.T. or Mike Eli of Eli Young Band? Color me surprised.
AM listening to the WHOLE album right now (again after hearing it at the party where "Sometimes I Cry" was recorded to tape at RCA Studio A).

No disrespect to those guys listed but I guarantee all of them will, in their heart of hearts, tell you that Chris is in a league of his own. To show you the "awe" of Chris I think watching a video on youtube he did with LBT "Elvira" cover shows you how some of the great vocalists of country music (like Jimi Westbrook of LBT) are in complete awe when Chris goes to town. Chris is a prime example of a guy born 30-40 years too late. In the 1970s he fronts a rock band that tours the nation. In 2015 he is such a talented voice that has to be forced to not be ignored because he doesn't have the looks. Despite his looks and mainstream not taking to him because he "isn't the pretty boy" his voice is one that record companies know they can sell on that alone. Those artists today are few and far between. He will sell on his voice, not his stage presence or looks.

They all have different styles, so I can't really rank them. I'd put Joe Nichols right up there though.
I love this song, along with Chris Stapleton. How many here have heard the Jompson Brothers record that Stapleton shines on?

How many here have heard the Jompson Brothers record that Stapleton shines on? My friend bought the Jompson Bros cd at a Stapleton show last fall and leant it to me. I absolutely love Motor Running! Whole album is solid, really.

This is great. Cool vibe. As others have stated, his voice is amazing. I also like the female harmony vocals on this trick. Is it anyone we know? She complements Chris well on the chorus.

I would suspect that it might be his wife Morgane , who is super talented as well. I've followed both of there careers for quite awhile & I'm really stoked for this record.

I'm almost certain it's his wife. She is usually on stage with him for most, if not all, of his shows and they sound great together.

Looks like this was delivered to country radio on this week's HitDisc compilation. (Kind of confused as to why there's no pre-order for the album or a digital release of this, though.)

On iTunes if you go to the album, you can preview 1:30 of all the songs on the album. For the most part though, most of these songs have numerous uploads on YouTube of live versions...Super excited for the album (already got it pre-ordered), but I am a bit disappointed that "The Right Ones" didn't make the cut, absolutely love him singing that song.

One of the only songs I knew of his when I saw him open for Little Big Town a couple weeks ago. It's good and he sang it nice live. He's certainly a powerhouse vocalist and while I admire that, I ended up being more impressed with his voice than actually liking it. He gets very growly and shrill when he belts and it was borderline too much for me to handle.

Well, at least it got an adds date. I don't know if this can crack the top 60, but hopefully at least a few stations will play it.

I don't really think this will chart either but an add date is what I was looking for and if it can make a little hay on the Music Row chart or even Indicator chart, I'll be happy.

I've sampled this album like half a dozen times on iTunes. I Can't. Wait. For . This . Album. Just from the samples , this will easily fall near the top of my Best of list for 2015. I've had the demo versions of a handful of these for years like "Might As Well Get Stoned" , "Sometimes I Cry" & "Daddy Doesn't Pray Anymore" (though he has his work cut out on that one as his wife nailed that one). "Was It 26" has always been my favorite Charlie Danials song . "Whiskey and You" has been a favorite track as well and that blues version of "Tennessee Whiskey" sounds flat out amazing from the Opry Performance I heard. I know this is too good for country radio , but hopefully it can sell enough to at least recoup the money for Mercury.
