Because there is no vid, and no word it's an official single, I'm thinking it was supposed to be Homemade Dynamite, but they rushed this one out instead? Not sure it's strong enough for a single but maybe it'll be a grower. PERFECT PLACES www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qm4_f8804nU

The sound of PP is more akin to the sound of PH, which, granted, doesn't sound like a huge progression but probably explains why I like it more than GL on first listen.

The Melodrama World Tour has been revealed. The dates for America (which I hopefully includes South America as well) will be announced soon.

So, between edibles, drinking wine and beer all day with no water or food, I was a complete blackout mess for her set at Gov Ball (though not NEARLY as bad as Chance, which followed her set, and found me legit lying on the concrete on my back in a sea of people. ) but...my friends told me I was dancing and singing along and going nuts during her set so at least I had a good time!

Regardless of the pending quality of the new album, I won't be surprised if she becomes a one-hit-album wonder.

So I'm at 1/4 with this record. I don't see Melodrama happening. Green Light is top 3 in her discography for me so that's a plus.

If you're gonna take 4 years to release a Sophomore album, you better deliver. I loved Green Light, but everything she's released sound like Pure Heroine rejects. Really disappointed.

I don't think anything from this album could work on Pure Heroine. I meant to say everything else but Green Light, because I think that was a cool progression of her sound and definitely a bit different, which is why I really liked it. I've only other heard Perfect Places/Sober, but both those songs sound a bit predictable to me and don't take her anywhere really different musically. I don't mean that they sound like Pure Heroine rejects in the fact that they would fit perfectly on that album, but that after such a long break I expected more from her.

Important release-week piece of #promo #content: ya girl had an Instagram account to review onion rings, which the crooked media got shut down. Sad!

The album booklet has leaked. I'm not sure if I can post it here or not, but it's on Lorde's Reddit page. www.reddit.com/r/lorde/

Thoughts/reviews? I am going to be at Firefly when this comes out so I will order from Amazon and have it waiting for me when I get home.

It's kind of sad. She made herself a household name with only her debut album. That's a big feat to achieve! But she messed it up because the sophomore album is even more important than the debut. Despite this having allegedly leaked nobody cares for it. I feel sorry for her because I remember her being one of the first artists I adored when I started stalking the charts

I refuse to listen until it comes out. Only 31.5 hours away for me. I can do that.

I wasn't a huge fan of her debut, I found it to be a tedious listen for the most part. This is a more engaging album production-wise at least. But I don't think the highlights pop nearly as much. If "Green Light" didn't fly, nothing on here will. Her success was such a fluke in the first place, it was going to be damn near impossible to capture that lightning in a bottle again.
I tend to gravitate towards the songs with tempo on here ("Green Light," "Sober," "Homemade Dynamite," "Supercut," "Perfect Places"). But "Liability" is f**king perfect. I like "Hard Feelings," but I feel like the "Loveless" section is a missed opportunity. "The Louvre" felt like it was building up to an epic payoff hook and then flatlines with the boom boom boom stuff. The "Sober II" and "Liability Reprise" interludes are unnecessary (although I like the beat when it drops in the former). And "Writer In The Dark" is Taylor Swift's favorite new warning to ALL MEN, don't see myself revisiting that one. Lyrically, she's as heavy-handed as usual, but when she lands, she lands (those closing lines of the "HF" section of "HF/L..." WOOF, hit so close to home right now). Something about this whole thing feels anti-climactic or unfinished though and I'm not sure if anything is going to stick long-term for me. But we'll see.

Liability was the first song that made me really perk up and I'm so disappointed that it's less than three minutes long. I also wish the Loveless portion of Hard Feelings/Loveless should have been longer or a separate song by itself. I have only listened to the CD once so far, but this didn't grab me right away. Will have to play it a few more times to really gauge how it stacks up with Pure Heroine.

"Perfect Places" is clearly the stand-out of the album. Nothing on this album will give her revival in the pop charts if that doesn't.

Sober Homemade Dynamite Liability Writer in the Dark Supercut Perfect Places
Not sure what made them go with GL as the lead single when there's much catchier/memorable records on the album to me albeit nothing as infectious and on-trend as Royals was.

Disappointing it leaked. I dont usually listen to leaks anymore, and listen via Spotify release day or week. I used to be a leak whore, but not anymore.
HOWEVER, I am listening to a stream of it...just cause Im in the mood for a new album.
Im at The Lourve and I love the albums vibe already. I hope I like it cause I havent bought a new album since JoJo's Mad Love. I lie, Im buying DL1.
edit:
ENJOY it. Ill be buying it digitally to support her, I dont feel like I want a physical copy.

I was really hesitant with the singles released leading up to the release but hearing everything put together, WOW. Very strong follow-up to her debut. Smart production, smart lyrics, perfect length.
