Wait. This was released 2 weeks early due to the leak? Sorry I've been on vacation.
In any case, upon first listen this record is very nice! Is sober or PP the second single?

Yeah, I bet the music's quality will make up for the clumsy rollout in the long run

This album is just sublime from start to finish. Everything fall to place perfectly, from the lyrics, production, track orders, it's just a perfect alignment of everything. If Carly's Emotion is the perfect glittery upbeat bubblegum pop album, then Melodrama is the counterpart, the perfect broody pop album.

What do we believe this will do on the charts? Pure Heroine was #3 on Billboard Top 200.

Without a hit and half a year away from final votes? That would be nice but not likely! Bitch please. I wouldn't count on that. It's becoming more and more of a popularity contest lately.

F**king hell she delivered with this album. Strong melodies, amazing production, phenomenal lyrics, cohesiveness for days, emotionally palpable. Welcome to my new obsession. #OurLordeAndSavior

What do we believe this will do on the charts? Pure Heroine was #3 on Billboard Top 200. HITS is predicting this to debut at #1 with 85-90k in SPS.

Her teams needs to get their stuff together and save this album. Perfect Places needs to go for Pop adds ASAP, for starters.

^ Perfect Places doesn't sound like a big hit either. I think she and this album will be destined to do ok without a hit like "Royals".

She needs to get "The Louvre" out and drive that cult classic status

Not a hit to be found, but who cares? It's a strong album, and a great follow-up to her debut. It doesn't draw me in like her debut did, and I don't think it reaches the same highs, but I really loved that album. This is good, and proves her strengths are intact--something I wasn't sure of after "Green Light" (which works better in context of the album, but still wouldn't have been my choice for a lead single).

This is not a CHR album. I could see Pop playing Perfect Places, maybe even Sober, when they liked Royals and Team, but hey, I thought Green Light sounded like a top 10 hit so what do I know?

I don't think there's any getting this album "back on track." This isn't what radio is playing at all. "Green Light" was just as good a choice as anything (and after letting this album really settle in, the wisest choice IMO). She's smart to promote the album as much as possible and push the tour to get those coins. She got the critical hype and a #1 debut. Hopefully that will pay off during awards season, but massive or long-term commercial success for this ain't in the cards.
However, the protracted launch for this was ridiculous though, these artists need to stop that sh*t.

I mean I would LOVE Lorde to get a proper hit on Top 40 radio but she can keep those album consumption numbers high even without it. She's a critical darling, she's an MTV darling (I'm almost 100% sure that she'll perform at the VMAs), she'll have her tour and possible Grammy hype. Plenty of chances to keep it charting.

I see Lorde as this generation's Alanis Morissette and this album is her Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie. Not a diss at all, btw.

This is not a CHR album. It is CHR loss if you ask me....I wish CHR could have more substance and play good pop instead of the disposable same stuff!

Phenomenal album. Sober, Green Light, and Liability are heads above the rest (shoutout to 4th runner up The Louvre) but there is not a weak link to be found. Even WITD has its place. It deserves all the praise.

The one two three punch of sober, homemade dynamite and the louvre is bliss.

However, the protracted launch for this was ridiculous though, these artists need to stop that sh*t. Completely agree on that last point. Same for Katy. There are many examples of success based on 'surprise'/immediate releases, yet artists and labels are still going with the 2/3 month build up before an album release. Just goes to show how far the industry hasn't come. Such a shame. I really hope this sees some sort of success, whether it's in the next awards season or commercially. I haven't been this impressed by a major release in a while. Maybe since Lemonade?

The reviews for this are incredible. I was not expecting this to be acclaimed at all, very surprised. I wasn't going to bother listening but now I'm excited to hear it. It would be great if she could get a hit out of this project, but the critical success is just as valuable for her career.

What impressed me the most is the fact that she knows how to actually make an album (aka a narrative) out of songs, when streaming is gradually destroying the idea of an album and replace it with a playlist.

I think Supercut sounds the most like a single from this album. No one else thinks the same though.
