LOL Alternative
I'm gona complaining because I like the song, but where the hell did that come from? This is a pure southern rock song, and despite Cornell being on it, one of the least-alternative songs on the active chart. I woulda preferred to see Young Guns get into the top 50 this week, but whatever lol, this is cool in a weird way.

Lol, I don't mind this one bit. This isn't particularly Alternative, but with all the non-Alternative songs that have charted the past few years (IMO), I hope this can at least go Top 30. Also, my Alternative station is playing this.

If your alternative station is also playing Royal Blood's new one and the Wolf Alice song that just snuck into the top 50, then you must be in heaven (Seriously, you need to listen to the Wolf Alice song if you already haven't, I feel like you're gonna be shocked at the heaviness that entered the top 50 today )

Although I'm all for heaviness, female vocals have rarely impressed me, I'm afraid.

Pretty soon their motto will be "Metal + Lorde".

It's not obnoxious like Halestorm and its not a poppy attempt at 80s hair like the Pretty Reckless. It's pretty much heavy garage rock haha.

I don't think this belongs on Alt, not in the same vein as Wolf Alice.

to tired to kill anyone tonight however.... that made me laugh for its obvious attempt of putting down two good bands. at least this song is better than folktronica style.

I actually like The Pretty Reckless...donno how I was "trying to put them down". It's as simple as this: If you consider calling a band poppy as "putting them down", then you're the worst kind of straight up, anti-mainstream hipster. No ifs, ands, or buts.

They've always played festivals, especially when they first came out, and they have a little jam band in them, not unlike My Morning Jacket and Wilco, who have managed to have some Alt airplay. This song doesn't sound like an Alternative song, but when you consider the bands roots it makes more sense.

It's not so much that you called them "Poppy". Though A Hard Rock band would probobly take offense to that. You also called Halestorm; Obnoxious. No Hard Rock band would take those as compliments. I like some Pop music, but Hair Metal and "Poppy' don't belong in the same sentence. 80's Glam/Hair Metal was so great, that it became Popular and was all over mainstream charts during the 80s. Unless you meant that Pretty Reckless is "Popular" or "Poppy" for short and Unless they meant to make a pop song, like Nickelback sometimes does; then calling a Hard Rock band "poppy" could be concidered ragging on them. . No ifs ..ands ..or butts about that.

So yeah then, you're definitely a hipster since you've made it clear that that's apparently a bad thing. And Halestorm are pretty obnoxious...unless you've never heard the atrocity that was "I Get Off".

how does National Airplay differ from Indicator Chart? mp3 sales? Indicator chart is composed of "minor-market stations" - a select, smaller panel of stations which are too low-ranked in audience to be part of the panel which comprises the main National Airplay chart.

This is correct. Oftentimes you'll see "indicator" or "secondary" radio markets have more movement on their charts (particularly the sub Top 20 parts) and this sometimes allows for developing or indie artists to break out more (at least in the country world where true indies rarely have Top 40 hits).

The only song that I really like from The Pretty Reckless is Heaven Knows.
The only songs I really like from Halestorm are I Miss the Misery and Here's to Us.

Eric Church's The Outsiders should have been sent to Active/Alternative. It has that Royal Blood/Black Keys vibe.

Apparantly "poppy" means melodic and catchy. I guess half of the Active Rock chart is now concidered "Poppy" "Deep Six" , "Coming For You" and "Dancing On Nails" all have "poppy" elements. hmmmm...No thanks. I'll stick to just keeping Rock and Pop in different catagories for now.
