This was mentioned over in the country forum, but country supergroup Zac Brown Band are going to premier a song March 6th to iHeartRadio's Active stations. Info is in this link: www.zacbrownband.com/news.html?n_id=2457

This will either be brilliant, awful, or hilarious. No midpoint available for this one.

I'm a fan of some of the stuff that Zac Brown Band does, so I'm interested. I agree with Cody though, this will either be good or bad, no in-between.

OMFG. The sheer awful hilarity of that alone...it's made my day. And I haven't even bothered to watch that video. (Nor do I plan to. ;))
That said, I can't imagine that, even if this song is atrocious, it will come anywhere near the level of rotten that that must've been.

There was a club mix of it that was actually much better than the original. The video was a hot ass mess.

Well when your chorus is "That b*itch aint a part o' me, I said nooooo that b*itch aint a part o' me. Ohhh that b*itch aint a part o' me, I said noooo that b*itch aint a part o' me" then you've got to rescue it with the greatest instrumentation of all time. Obviously that never happened

Well Zac Brown Band released an EP produced by Dave Grohl over a year ago, and they're supposed to be working on another one from what I understand. I'm mostly curious if they stick with classic rock sound they've always had, or if they lean a little edgier. They covered Kashmir and Enter Sandman both pretty well the last few times I saw them, so I could see them pulling something off.

Anyone who's having doubts about this needs to listen to The Grohl Sessions.

No doubts here. And I was aware of the Zac-Grohl collaborations (I only listened to All Alright and Congregation, the latter has Brown on backing vocals). Juat curious about this. Can see this doing something, though not by much (considering Kid Rock is now Top 20 on Active)

Under Cool New Music for AAA, Alt, and Rock.
I like this! The intro is great. I don't think Chris Cornell was really necessary, but he doesn't ruin it.

Whenever Chris Cornell experiments with artists he shouldn't experiment with, it's a recipe for disaster: Aye that album had some jams on it. Most notably the Ryan Tedder co-productions with Timbaland and Harmon.

Okay now I am loooooving this. I still think it'd better with just Zac (where we might hear it like that on SNL tonight), but this is really good nonetheless. I hope the best for this.

From the preview I heard on the iTunes store, this actually isn't bad at all, and Cornell doesn't sound too out of place.

heard this on SNL before reading this thread & was like WTF?! Is that really Chris Cornell? I never really paid attention to ZBB but they seem way too authentic & talented to survive on the sad state of country radio today...my instinct was to hate it, but I just can't ...we'll see if it grows on me enough to chart it

This ain't bad. Always thought of Zac Brown (whom I know solely from their string of 2011-12 singles thanks to Hot 100 playlists) as one of the, er, lighter country acts out there but between this and "Congregation" it seems he's got a nice flair for straight-up rock too, it seems.

I keep listening to this and all I can think of is "is this seriously a Zac Brown Band song"? Never really been a Zac Brown fan but I just can't help but feel that this song might alienate their core fan base.
On a side note, I guess I can consider this a guilty pleasure. I actually quite like it

Never really been a Zac Brown fan but I just can't help but feel that this song might alienate their core fan base. I actually think a large part of Zac Brown Band's fan base are rock fans too, so I doubt this will alienate them, especially seeing the warm reception the Grohl Sessions had. I think there would be a bigger issue had ZBB not serviced Country Radio with a mega hit in "Homegrown", but with that smashing on the country charts, I think any of their "pure country" fans will be more than satisfied.

Timbaland tainted evey rock band or musician he was involved with. Duran Duran's Red Carpet Massacre tanked... and don't remind me of that song featuring Chad Kroeger. I'm not sure about this song. Didn't Sound Garden release a few songs earlier this year that did absolutley nothing. Anyway, I'm still waiting on new Audioslave material.

This is decent, and I was expecting an absolute trainwreck.
I've never been a ZBB fan, (outside of a few singles), but props to them for trying something completely different and bucking the Country/Pop trend.
If ZBB wants to change up their sound, I'm glad they're taking a seemingly more authentic route than going full on Pop (Luke Bryan), or trying to pull off the fake Rock persona (Aldean).

Honestly, I've never checked out The Grohl Sessions, and I primarily know ZBB through "Toes", and I cannot stand that song. Imagine my surprise when I listen to this song, purely because Chris Cornell was featured on the song, and my first reaction was, "Jesus, this is really freaking good!" Because of this one song, The Grohl Sessions are on my list of music to check out, and I immediately respect Zac Brown as a musician more than I ever did previously.
So...yeah, I guess you could say that I like this song. And if you're apprehensive to listen to it, like I was, well, if you're a fan of authentic, raw southern rock like I am, you're going to like this.
