Bottom: 1. Chattahoochie (WAYYYYYY overplayed, to this day) 2. It's Five Oclock Somewhere (see above) 3. Where Were You (see above) 4. Remember When (same as above) 5. Don't Rock The Jukebox, Where I Come From, Drive, etc (any of these bottom songs aren't very good to begin with, IMO, then they were WAY overplayed)

I'll Go On Loving You (I never understood why this song was 'controversial' in some circles???) Maybe because it was so out of character for Alan to be singing about "the pleasures of the flesh"? (Not that I have anything with songs about sex, mind you -- it's just so un-Alan that I couldn't possibly like that song.)

Un-Alan is a very nice invention but I don't see that song as out of character. There's something shy about it even though it's openly sexual. That said, it's the kind of song that wears on me, so after 50 repetitions I was ready for it to go recurrent.
Top songs:
1. Where Were You 2. Song For the Life (one of my favorite songs ever, and I'm the only one to mention it here unless I missed something) 3. She's Got the Rhythm 4. Midnight in Montgomery 5. Remember When 6. Gone Country 7. Monday Morning Church 8. Red on a Rose 9. A Woman's Love 10. The Blues Man (but I like George and Dolly's version better) 11. Dallas 12. There Goes 13. Love's Got a Hold on You 14. I Don't Even Know Her Name 15. Between the Devil and You, or Here in the Real World, or any of a dozen others
Bottom:
1. Where I Come From 2. Living on Love 3. It's 5:00 Somewhere

I knew that we had done him before; just thought I'd give a few artists a second chance. Although really, I do need to start keeping track...

None of my bottom songs are that bad, they're just not his greatest work.

I knew that we had done him before; just thought I'd give a few artists a second chance. Although really, I do need to start keeping track... Even though I didn't participate in the Garth top/bottom 5 listing, I don't think it's such a bad idea to revisit certain artists from time to time. I was a member of this board a year ago when you did this last time but wasn't really an "active" participant so I didn't even know you did this. Also, new members are joining all the time, so I think it's a good idea to give some of the newer members a chance to give their input if they weren't around the last time an artist was mentioned. What do you think? Thanks!

I'm glad you did Garth, even though I forgot to participate. Standing Outside the Fire would have been my #1.
Tracy Good:
1. Used to the Pain 2. Time Marches On (in my wife's all-time top 10) 3. How a Cowgirl Says Goodbye 4. Alibis 5. I See It Now 6. If I Don't Make It Back 7. If the Good Die Young 8. Texas Tornado 9. If You Loved Me 10. Sticks and Stones
Tracy Bad:
1. If the World Had a Front Porch (easy winner) 2. Paint Me a Birmingham (but Cledus T's version, Bake Me a Country Ham, was so good it almost redeems this one)
Really he doesn't have a lot of bad songs -- a lot of them sound alike, and I don't need to hear them often, but they're almost all good. Glad Tracy made it into the Whitburn top 100 -- he's a good singer.

Good singer, good songwriter, but he should have been more flexible about singing other people's material. He'd have had a much longer career at the top of the charts, and he wouldn't have become predictable.
1. Nobody's Home 2. State of Mind 3. Untangling My Mind 4. Nothing's News 5. A Good Run of Bad Luck 6. Nothin' but the Taillights 7. Loving Blind 8. Like the Rain 9. One More Payment 10. Been There 11. We Tell Ourselves 12. Burn One Down 13. A Bad Goodbye and two really good songs that all failed to chart, but were released as singles: 14. Heartaches 15. A Grain of Salt (w/ Ray Herndon)
Not so good:
1. I Raq and Roll 2. Summer's Comin' 3. Easy for Me to Say 4. The Shoes You're Wearing 5. Loosen Up My Strings
