Wow, didn't realize how big a Toby fan I am...
TOP 1. A Woman's Touch 2. A Little Too Late 3. Upstairs Downtown 4. Who's That Man 5. I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying (can't believe Toby hates this song) 6. We Were in Love 7. Rock You Baby 8. I Wanna Talk About Me 9. Getcha Some 10. Big Blue Note 11. My List 12. You Ain't Much Fun 13. He Ain't Worth Missin' 14. I'm Just Talkin' About Tonight 15. A Little Less Talk and a Lot More Action 16. Should've Been a Cowboy 17. Big Ol' Truck 18. Mockingbird (so sue me; I think this was a good song but a bad single choice) 19. Stays in Mexico (so sue me, again) 20. Get Drunk and Be Somebody (so sue me a third time)
TOP ALBUM CUTS 1. Huckleberry 2. Pick 'Em Up and Lay 'Em Down 3. The Lonely 4. Closin' Time at Home 5. I Can't Take You Anywhere (his version is a bit better than the Scotty duet because it lacks a gratuitous cameo; also, Toby's manly enough to order a steak instead of a strawberry shake)
BOTTOM 1. American Soldier (easily my least favorite; it's not bad, it just doesn't add anything that hasn't already been said by 518,000 other soldier songs) 2. Does That Blue Moon Ever Shine on You? 3. Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American) 4. Me Too 5. Honkytonk U (I like this song's Waylon groove, but I think he should've put a bit more substance in it)

Despite the fact that I have been a long time reader of the board, I'll allow this to be my first post.
TOP
1. Dream Walkin' (One of my all-time favorites) 2. A Woman's Touch (A close 2nd) 3. New Orleans (Great song about one's hometown) 4. That's Not How It Is (Wish it was a single) 5. Rodeo Moon
BOTTOM
1. Stays in Mexico 2. American Soldier 3. As Good As I Once Was 4. Getcha Some 5. Huckleberry

My opinion of TK is that he has failed to challenge himself musically, therefore has largely wasted his terrific amount of talent. But he must have a lot of money to compensate for that.
Favorites:
1. A Woman's Touch 2. A Little Less Talk... 3. Upstairs Downtown 4. Dream Walkin' 5. Does That Blue Moon... (he does like long titles) 6. You Shouldn't Kiss Me... 7. I'm So Happy... 8. Big Ol' Truck 9. A Little Too Late 10. As Good As I Once Was
Not So:
1. My List 2. Stays in Mexico 3. Get Drunk and Be Somebody 4. Who's Your Daddy 5. I Wanna Talk About Me

I agree with Zazie, TK has largely misused his talents, but I do still like a lot of his songs (just nothing in the last 2-3 years).
Faves: 1. You Shouldn't Kiss Me Like This (never used to like this song that much, but after living it out, i have a special place for it) 2. Rock You Baby 3. Country Comes To Town 4. We Were In Love 5. Who's That Man 6. Beer For My Horses 7. You Ain't Much Fun 8. Wish I Didn't Know Now 9. Stays In Mexico 10. Ain't As Good As I Once Was
Album Cuts: 1. Huckleberry (Unleashed) 2. It's All Good (Unleashed) 3. Nights I Can't Remember (Shock'n'Yall) 4. Losing My Touch (Unleashed) 5. Grain Of Salt (White Trash With Money) 6. It Works For Me (Unleashed) 7. Go With Her (Greatest Hits 2)
Least Faves: 1. Mockingbird 2. Honky Tonk U 3. I Wanna Talk About Me 4. If A Man Answers 5. A Little Too Late (TK has too much personality in his voice to record this without an ounce of emotion in it)

Diamond Rio:
TOP 1. Sawmill Road (no idea why I like this one so much) 1 (tie). You're Gone (came out not long after my grandma passed away; kind of a retroactive thing now that I think of it) 3. Nowhere Bound 4. In a Week or Two 5. Mirror, Mirror 6. Can't You Tell (probably their biggest departure sonically, especially given the sap they were wallowing in at this point) 7. Beautiful Mess 8. One More Day 9. Unbelievable 10. Night Is Fallin' in My Heart (kind of a departure for Dennis Linde, but further proof that he never missed) 11. Stuff 12. Meet in the Middle 13. Bubba Hyde (how many other songs mention A&P?) 14. How Your Love Makes Me Feel 15. Walkin' Away (still had a few other choices here)
BOTTOM 1. God Only Cries (no matter how I parse this song's hook, it just doesn't sound right: "God only cries for the living / 'Cause it's the living that are so far from home") 2. In God We Still Trust (no originality) 3. Wrinkles (contrived and sappy) 4. Sweet Summer (not that bad, not that good) 5. I Know How the River Feels (ditto)

Least Faves: 1. Can't You Tell 2. I Know How The River Feels 3. I Believe 4. Mama Don't Forget To Pray For Me 5. One More Day (not a bad song, just vastly overplayed)

I'm ashamed to say that I don't know a single song by Diamond Rio. Sad, just sad!! But then, I'm a new Country Music fan, so maybe that makes up for it. Wait just a minute...after looking at the list, I might know "Meet In The Middle"...is that the one that goes ..."I start walkin' your way, you start walkin mine...and we'll meet in the middle by that ol Georgia Pine"?? If that's them, then, that is the only song I know, and it's a good one!

Meet in the Middle was their debut single, a #1 hit back in 1991. It's funny you know their oldest song, but nothing since.
Diamond Rio's one of my favorites but I liked them better before they lost their light touch. They produced some dreary songs at the end, but they made some sweet music and their harmony was terrific.
Top:
1. It's All in Your Head 2. Unbelievable 3. Beautiful Mess 4. You're Gone 5. In a Week or Two 6. Norma Jean Riley 7. Love a Little Stronger 8. How Your Love Makes Me Feel 9. Imagine That 10. Night Is Falling In My Heart
Bottom:
1. I Believe 2. God Only Cries (no trouble parsing it, but I don't like it) 3. Wrinkles
I miss D Rio. Good vocals, good arrangements, and generally good lyrics with a few glaring exceptions.

I'm pretty sure we had Diamond Rio once already. :) As a matter of fact, I think mine & Zazie's lists were nearly identical.

This week, it's John Michael Martin Murphey Mary-Chapin Hartford Montgomery Gentry, or whatever his name is.
TOP 1. No Man's Land (spoiler alert: you're about to hear this song as a CT40 listener request) 2. Life's a Dance 3. I Miss You a Little 4. Letters From Home 5. Friends 6. Hello L-O-V-E 7. How Was I to Know (funny how he and Reba both hit #1 in the same year on R&R with two different songs sharing the same title) 8. Home to You 9. Be My Baby Tonight 10. Cover You in Kisses
BOTTOM 1. The Little Girl (sappy, contrived, based on a dusty urban legend, just plain bad) 2. Angel in My Eyes (perhaps one of the whiniest country songs ever) 3. I Swear (still light years better than All-4-One's version) 4. Long As I Live 5. Rope the Moon (word is that JMM himself doesn't like this song)

Faves: 1. Friends 2. Cowboy Love 3. If You've Got Love 4. Letters From Home 5. No Man's Land 6. Life's A Dance 7. Hello L-O-V-E 8. 'Til Nothing Comes Between Us Anymore 9. Sold 10. Hold On To Me 10a. Cool (I believe this was slated to be released before Letters From Home, which was a no-brainer to go with LFH, but I never understood why it wasn't the follow-up single, I really liked it.)
Least Faves: 1. Cover You In Kisses 2. Country Thang 3. Angel In My Eyes 4. I Can Love You Like That 5. I Love The Way You Love Me

How Was I To Know didn't make it to #1 on Billboard. Maybe on one of the other charts?
Top:
1. Letters From Home (by a mile) 2. I Miss You a Little 3. Friends 4. Home to You 5. No Man's Land
Bottom:
1. The Little Girl (by a mile) 2. Sold 3. Four-Wheel Drive 4. I Swear 5. Angel in My Eyes
I never did like his voice much.

^I should have clarified a bit. How Was I to Know reached #1 on R&R. For some reason, JMM had a whole bunch of R&R-only #1's in a row, including Friends (which only peaked at #6 on Billboard).

Sorry, but Friends was a #2 on BB. My memory is that it got stuck behind Little Bitty. I'll stop correcting you now, but I'm enjoying it too much not to post this. By the way, his only #6 BB peak came with I Miss You a Little.

^I know that Friends was a #2 on Billboard. Geez, I try to clarify and only confuse everyone, including myself.
By the way, I think I heard the song maybe twice when it came out. For some reason, my memories of 1996-1999 radiowise are rather foggy.
