Good choice, at least a lot better than "Work This Body". Will expect a Top 10 for this one. I guess they're saving "Portugal" for third. ;) If "Portugal" ever gets selected as a single, I will fly to Lisbon, buy a pair of Portuguese shoes, and eat them.

very indie sounding with a dash of 80s. Needless to say, I'm loving it.

Make sure you get a Portuguese roll of bread while you're at it. Heard it adds lots of flavor.

Does anyone know how many adds this picked up on its adds date? No adds this week and not in the Top 50 yet. I was expecting Alt to jump fast on this.

maybe with the Pop crossover and its slow Alt descent it will be held in recurrent limbo for awhile before Different Colors can take off.

They may have crossed into the territory now after success on CHR/Pop that they are now too uncool for alternative ala All-American Rejects, and even longer ago, Maroon 5 or Matchbox Twenty, I think the days for them on this format will start fading, this song also is not very good at least for radio.

I've always hated that, but it throughout the years; it seems like the sad truth. That is exactly One of the reasons I would rather my favourit Alt/Rock bands , not crossover into Tainted Mainstream Pop territory. The other side to this is that Mainstream pop isn't very loyal to crossover acts. They just squeeze them out for all they can. usually for one or two big hits? then, discard them(Lorde,Neon Trees,) or completely overtake them and force them to change thier sound entirly to always fit mainstream pop sound (Katy Perry, Maroon 5). In the end, the ones that are discarded lose on both formatts.

hmmm...well, i suppose if Ace Of Base, Maroon 5, Smash Mouth and Right Said Fred can chart on Alternative, then why not "I Kissed A Girl"?

Possible but I kinda doubt that Walk the Moon can pull off a career trajectory similar to those acts where they still see lasting success on pop/Hot AC radio with follow-up hits (if any act were to pull that route I would've thought it'd be Imagine Dragons). I'm predicting a Capital Cities/Bastille route where the follow-up pop radio single completely flops and they (presumably) focus on alternative radio henceforth

In the end, the ones that are discarded lose on both formatts. How were Lorde and Neon Trees discarded on Alternative, though? Every Neon Trees single to this date has done better on Alternative than on CHR - and with Lorde, Yellow Flicker Beat charted exclusively on Alternative (and that was the last single she released)
I don't think Katy Perry and Maroon 5 were forced to change their sound, since their poppy, non-Alternative singles (like She Will Be Loved or Hot 'N' Cold) were already recorded on their albums at the time their lead singles were charting - with Matchbox Twenty, he just started writing pop singles (like If You're Gone) instead of Alternative singles with their second album, so their label started targeting CHR and HAC instead of Alternative
I agree that Alternative discarded All-American Rejects, but that was at a time when the format basically discarded that entire genre of music as the format switched focus
So I really don't think Alternative is going to discard Walk The Moon just because they had a single that charted on pop, especially since they didn't discard Foster The People, Kings Of Leon, or Bastille

this song also is not very good at least for radio. LOL, yeah, right They tried to jump on a train that faded years ago, the equality/LGBT train that is. Everyone gets it by now and is kind of tired of hearing about it. This song is just not very good at all.

That's your opinion. This song is fairly popular, I'm sure it'll do fine. Alternative listeners are also younger and are more prone to have liberalized social views...so the lyrical content can be "controversial" and not really be all that big of a deal on Alternative. Case and point = Hozier.

You read it wrong. I said Mainstream Pop squeezes them and then discards them not Alt. Most notably Lorde and Neon Trees last singles which didn't even crack the top 40 on Hot 100 ,but now that you bring it up, Neon Trees have been struggleing on Alt as well and Lorde performed less than Desirable with "Yellow Flicker Beat"; after having two big top 3 hits. Lorde can still make a big comeback if she plays her cards right, but Neon Trees are starting to worry me. As for Maroon 5; who were concidered on Alternative Rock band; I was hinting that you won't find any songs like "Harder To Breathe"(Alt hit)or "This Love" on thier future albumes. It's mostly all programmed music for them now a days. Katy Perry was also known as Katy Hudson and her music was Christian Rock/Pop Adult Contemporary. That what I meant by pop changes you. You become richer, but your music isn't exactly better.

RCA should FINALLY be pushing this, it's under CNM on Alternative and AAA and on Billboard's panel, it's the most added song with 8 adds (http://charts.bdsradio.com/bdsradiocharts/charts.aspx?formatid=6)
