Impacts May 5, according to a promo email from Epic. YAY! An official confirmation!!! Does it say anywhere in the email that it'll impact over at Rhythmic and Urban? Also, do you think there'll be a radio deal next week? I have not heard anything but radio programmers' tweets about them having it right now makes it seem like a possibility but not guaranteed.

No - I think they email the Rhythmic/Urban list separately and I don't believe I have that listed as one of my format preferences on AllAccess, so I probably won't get that email (though I imagine if it's impacting all the pop formats the same day, it'll impact Rhythmic too unless it's really pop-leaning). No clue on a radio deal.

Has a producer for this song been revealed? I'm pretty sure singer/songwriter, Priscilla Renea, had a hand in writing it: http://instagram.com/p/1ZwWgPEkrg She's written a lot of stuff for pop acts, so I'm curious as to what this sounds like.

Rumored co-producers are Bryan-Michael Cox and Eric Hudson. Anyway, they have the premiere promo tied in with that Periscope app or something. The new team is definitely taking advantage of social media.

One major problem with her last album was a lack of social media presence. A lot of people just flat out didn't know she had an album out.

Eeehhhhh I mean I think social media plays a role somewhat but quite simply the singles just weren't connecting with her core record buying audience or any audience to be honest. It was really DOA

#Beautiful did great and all she really needed to do was release You Don't Know What To Do right after it and Thirsty was an urban hit ready to go, etc. She had a lot on her hands but they waited and waited and made gross single choices (YM(E)... bye).

It was really DOA Eh, you're right that everything but '#Beautiful' was met with lackluster results. Didn't help that the releases were kind of all over the place, but anyway, a very, very large part of promo these days is social media. You absolutely cannot discount the audience you're going to reach with that-- an audience much larger than even radio, if you take full advantage of it. Even if the singles fail to do shit, people will still at least know she's got an album out and check it out.

Charmbracelet sold over a million copies and double what Glitter sold just because Mariah was in everyone's face. "Through The Rain" didn't even make Billboard's Airplay chart. The mediums may have changed, but there's still a benefit in mass exposure and her team got that all wrong with the last album. This album is already off to a better start.

No clue on a radio deal. Yes, the impact date for Rhythmic and Urban is the same. But really surprised to see Epic is pushing this on AC, while it's obvious the song did not fit that much into AC format...

Singles should've been: April/May- #Beautiful (Album release end of May after American Idol) June/July- You Don't Know What To Do August/Sept- Thirsty Oct/Nov- Meterorite period. (would've went Platinum in the USA)

That's pretty genius of Mariah if that's true. LA Reid used to be a producer in the 90's. So to get him to co-produce means he makes money off the song's success (not just as the label boss but as an actual producer as well) So... he'll have a greater vested interest in making sure the song does well...
Only Mariah!

One major problem with her last album was a lack of social media presence. A lot of people just flat out didn't know she had an album out. I agree. The lack of promo for the album's first week could've been countered by a massive social media presence tied with the "elusive" theme. There was a fan who had this idea that I really loved about Mariah randomly appearing in public places in NY and singing random bits of songs from the album all tied with a campaign like "Where is the Elusive Chanteuse?" I know it sounds corny, but it would have been cute and interesting.

I agree with you guys regarding the album's first week promo (the biggest wtf moment for me: she released it when there was NO single out to support it! ), re: the social media campaign etc. but what hurt that album the worst were the constant delays IMO. I haven't heard of another mainstream release getting pushed back so many times. The best time to release it was 2013 when "#Beautiful" had become a solid hit, she had Idol exposure, she was in terrific shape etc. By the time it eventually came out, no one but her fans cared and even most of them probably didn't buy it. ___________ Mariah Carey talks "Infinity":

So to get him to co-produce means he makes money off the song's success (not just as the label boss but as an actual producer as well) He was executive producer of all her albums from The Emancipation of Mimi to Merry Christmas II You, so he technically "produced" those albums too. I have a feeling that's the case here.

I always thought If her last album was released the summer after beautiful peaked it would've sold at least another 100k . We know the album was ready too :/

(would've went Platinum in the USA)I think the singles should have been: 1. YDKWTD (classic uptempo Mariah 1st single, would have warmed her back up on radio) 2. #Beautiful (2nd single smash) 3. Dedicated (another multi-format hit) 4. Meteorite/Thirsty (to be pushed at different formats) If Mariah had been ready and able to do all-out promotion looking as amazing as she did at the time, I believe she could've done at least 500k if not more. So many missed opportunities from that album!!

I was under the assumption that regardless of the pushbacks, she would obtain 500k easily based off her name alone. @touch was right, the presence was gone. Why the hell wasn't that Wale featured singles get promoted to radio?
