Did you even listen to the song, lmao. "There's an end to an infinity." The whole point is infinity means forever and ever without any limit but yet somehow their relationship ended anyway even though it was supposed to be for "infinity". Someone needs to fix your bulb honey. Dude...I'm not gonna play a back & forth but, first up the Lyric goes "There's an end to infinity" Not "AN Infinity" claiming the word as her end to the relationship Yet what I'm trying to teach U...Is what defines Infinity...NO END..withOUT END...Never ENDing Hell I'd be happy if the lyric went "to AN Infinity" then she would be using it right...but, she didn't & my bulb is just fine..honey That was a typo, I don't know why I wrote that lol. But HELLO we all know what infinity means. We understand the definition, Mariah understands the definition, that's the whole point of the song. I AGREE the word infinity means without an END- she is saying her relationship was supposed to be for infinity (no limits, yes don't tell me what the definition means again because I know), but it didn't last forever and so for in HER case there IS an end to infinity. That's it. She's aware of what the word means, but in context to the song she is saying well you know what, there is an end to it because Nick Cannon did me dirty. Like I don't understand why you are taking it so literally... she's not going into the dictionary and changing the definition lol. It's a song and it makes perfect sense why she's saying that. She's exaggerating to explain how great and everlasting the relationship felt at first but then it ended.

MiniMusic U must be a Lamb & thanks for saying this "I AGREE the word infinity means without an END"
That's all I needed to read...a mis-use of the word...that was my only point.
Enjoy your Monday

Not a lamb, but a person who just won an award for writing a paper that beat out 10,000 other students so I'm think I'm capable of understanding the simple meaning behind Mariah's song and her use of the word infinity... guess her writing is too complex for others to understand.

The melody and the production are nice. Some of the lyrics are cute, but she tried it with these vocals.

This is some basic bitch s**t. It's even worse now that it's tracklisted alongside some true pop classics. The only song in her oeuvre in the last few years that should have been on this album was "#Beautiful". All of her mid tempos from the last 12 years sound the same. She really needs new producers. This JD/b cox sound is so played. Yup - even though it's not JD/B Cox, their influence lives on, apparently.

I'm so disappointed. :( I mean I could get over the fact of it having ZERO hit potential on any chart of any planet in any era (which makes no sense why it was stuck on an album of #1's in that case) if I liked it. But it's just so generic. It makes Triumphant sound innovative. The bridge and verses are OK but I'm just not feeling that chorus. Her voice also sounds a little tired to me in parts. Or just plain odd, like that bizarre screechy high note I've never heard from her in my life at the very end. What a come down after the mostly great Elusive Chanteuse stuff.

This got 2 plays on my iPhone and "press delete".
Props to her team for managing to get the press to spin this like return of 90s Mariah though.

Honestly yeah it's not worth taking up 8-10MB on my phone. I'll YouTube it when I feel the need to listen, which I can't imagine will be that frequent

They're song lyrics, not a thesis.

This surely will not likely be her next number 1 hit single. The song sounds like Mariah Carey tried to throw all her antics into one song. I mean it just seems way over the top! and to be honest it sounds like a leftover from her previous albums. Just my 2 Cents

I was really harsh on this when I first played the preview clip on iTunes last night - but watching the lyric video just once (and being able to see wtf she's actually saying) really changed my impression. Now I've played it at least 10x today.
The "eee"s in the chorus were a bad call, and I don't expect this to be a hit...but it's infinitely more enjoyable than "Triumphant."

I don't get Mariah "fans" deleting it off their phone. Do you guys have mobile phones with really low storage or just like to have a couple songs on there? You may not like the song today...but deleting it? I have trap queen on my phone and I haven't even deleted that--you never know when you might wanna listen to it! (and I have 32 GB)

I am very disappointed as well. I really wanted to like Infinity but the vocals are very rough and the melody is non-existant. She tried to channel Shake It Off but it didn't work.

Awful. Some of those lyrics are straight out of the Bravo sound book. The vocals, too.
And lmao @ the lyric video.

I guess that's my one complaint. The eeeees on the chorus sound like she's wheeeeezing. But its funny since the eeeees are what get stuck in my head!

With 953,751 views, in a bit over 24 hours "Infinity" surpassed whatever "You're Mine" gathered in over a year on Youtube....

You're Mine wasn't a lyric video, tho. And the official video was released on the same day so people just would stream the video instead. So not really comparable!

Green updates on iTunes, back up to #28 and will probably get back up a few spots as The Voice songs fall later today.
The song has really grown on me-- it's pretty mess at first, but once you get used to it, it's got some really strong points. Love the chorus, love the bridge, and I don't know what yall talking about but I think the high note sounds great- especially with that perfectly placed violin.

Does anyone know if this song got ANY radio spins at all yesterday? Cause I'm pretty sure yesterday or today will be it's radio peak. And I actually really like this song, despite some of the negativity here!

^Looks like it got a small number of spins at Urban AC (per the all-stations spin-increase list).
The official impact date is next week for some formats, but if it doesn't get much up play until then, I wouldn't expect a whole lot come next week.
