Well at least Kingsley's show has some old songs to throw in addition to the current 30 at the time. Now if they could only get the first hour reinstated...
Anyway, this week's ACC Rewind show goes back to a year that is long overdue - 2005. March 26, 2005 to be exact.

This chart features "Don't Ask Me How I Know" by Bobby Pinson and "Long, Slow Kisses" by Jeff Bates. Love these 2 songs among the other great songs they played as well.

What was the name of the segment on ACC, where Bob replayed all the former #1's from over the years, in alphabetical order? It was back in the mid-90's and he played three a week.

I don't think that feature had a name. He did that at least as early as 1987, and possibly earlier. It was just what he used to endcap each hour, instead of the two listener requests and ACC Calendar (which did exist back then, but was not preset into the end of the third hour). It looks like the requests and ACC Calendar always being at the end of the third hour came around 1996-97, because the 1995 episode from a couple weeks ago still had the former #1's.

It looks like the requests and ACC Calendar always being at the end of the third hour came around 1996-97, because the 1995 episode from a couple weeks ago still had the former #1's. As far as I know, he began doing this once the show expanded to 4 hours in 1986, starting with the #1's from the 70s, then #1's from the 80s around 1988 until 1991, and then the A-Z's from 1991-1995 until the listener request replaced the archives for the end of hours 1 & 2 come January 1996. ACC Calendar moved to the end of hour 3 sometime in 1996 (after March 16 and no later than September 7) shortly after the third hour archive was dropped. Speaking of alphabetical order, you will get the chance to hear it with April 3, 1993 (they seem to love that year quite a lot now) this week. According to the CT40.com website, it is named ACC Archive.

Oh god, that "Romeo" song by Dolly Parton is hilariously bad...

Another thing to note: Back then, ACC Calendar wasn't a weekly feature - there were instances where it didn't show up at all.
Anyway, long overdue for this year that hasn't been featured since May of last year - 1997, in fact, April 12, 1997 to be exact.

This week we are rewinding to April 18, 1998 - where that year I think the women got a good amount of respect on country radio back then (not to discourage the guys though).
Also this is one of the last times the 1995 closing theme is heard - the rest of the theme package may have been updated but I'm not totally sure...
EDIT: The 1995 theme package was still in use, with a few 1998 jingles sprinkled in. Kingsley also started to alter back and forth per week on what he says in the closing and started mentioning the ACC website for listener requests.

This week the rewind show is April 22, 2000 - at this point, the 2000 music package and the newer version of the ACC Calendar jingle are in use (the last 2000 show that ran in January still had the older music package and ACC Calendar jingle).

This week's ACC Rewind also marks the end of the first year of this program. After one full year of shows, here's the breakdown:
1990 - 1 1991 - 4 1992 - 5 1993 - 6 1994 - 3 1995 - 2 1996 - 3 1997 - 2 1998 - 4 1999 - 2 2000 - 3 2001 - 4 2002 - 2 2003 - 4 2004 - 5 2005 - 2

Although we have reached the end of year 1 on ACC Rewind, they are giving us one more April show - April 27, 2002 this week.
Note late in the Kingsley era, some of the jingles are song look-alikes.

Because we are now into the month of May, I will now indicate whether if the ACC Rewind is a new show or a repeat... hopefully not too much.
This week, we are rewinding to May 7, 1994 - lots of debuts this week... if only the #31-40 songs were reinstated...

That was a wild chart week as a bunch of songs went recurrent that week on billboard. There were 6 Debuts and 1 re-entry on ACC this week, including "My Night to Howl" by Lorrie Morgan that jumped from 44 to 31. But then next week (May 14) fell out of the top 40 (back to #44) never to come back. Also the only 3 songs to have bullets on this week in the 31-40 range were top 40 debuts (Foolish Pride and Every Once In A While were the other 2)
Ironically the May 14 chart had 6 MORE debuts on ACC lol. 1994 was quite the chart year.

Yeah, lots can happen on the Billboard charts without any notice - songs go strong only to fall apart later on.
Anyway, a new episode of ACC Rewind is in store - May 15, 1999 where the charts slowed down quite a bit because of recurring rule changes and fewer new songs.
Seems like 1990 hasn't been aired since June of last year - that year is technically due but when it will be aired again, we don't know... hopefully soon

Posting early this time - this week's ACC Rewind show is new and from May 23, 1992 - shortly before the new music maker feature debuted. Also features #1 A-Z's and some extras.

Boy they do love 2004 don't they? That now makes it 6 airings so far. At least it is new - May 29, 2004 is this week's airing for Memorial Day weekend. By this point, the closing theme was changed one more time that as far as I know was used for the rest of Kingsley's tenure until he departed from ACC.

Another new show, this time going back to June 3, 1995 this week. Based on the song at the top of the chart this week, it looks like summer is really coming now...

This week we are heading back to June 14, 2003 (new show), where country seemed to return its traditional roots for a while.

This week features a new show from June 22, 1996. By this point, the ACC Calendar segment was moved to the end of the third hour and was a permanent fixture once the listener requests got going at the end of hours 1 & 2.
Wonder if Kingsley started giving the copyright year at the end of the show by this point... that and also the top of hour theme changing and listener requests from the 80s/90s at the end of the show.

Am I the only person that loves Dusty Drake's song "One Last Time" from the 2003 show?

Am I the only person that loves Dusty Drake's song "One Last Time" from the 2003 show? Not by a long shot. That song is a masterpiece. I swear, I haven't heard ANYthing off this 1996 show except "Daddy's Money" in 20 years... I don't even remember anything off Reba's Starting Over album at all.

2003 was a great year for nostalgia.
"99.9% Sure (I've Never Been Here Before)" "Man To Man" "I Believe" "Backseat Of A Greyhound Bus" "Three Mississippi" "Love's Got An Attitude (It Is What It Is)" "Celebrity" "Run, Run, Run" "Streets Of Heaven" "When You Think Of Me" "The Love Song" "I Can't Take You Anywhere"

^ I remember all of those first hand except for "When You Think of Me" and Amy Dalley's song, but WATZ and WWTH spun the latter a lot after the fact. "Streets of Heaven" is garbage.
The 1996 show is doing "I'm Not Supposed to Love You Anymore". I remember my then 3 year old sister singing along to this as "I no asposed to yuv yoo anymore".

I always thought "When You Think Of Me" was a very underrated song from Mark Wills.
In hindsight, it didn't have a prayer to become a decent sized hit, having to follow "19 Somethin'".

Going back to the early 90s this time with a new episode of June 29, 1991 this week. They were just getting the A-Z archives going at the end of hours 1, 2, and 3, along with other extras within the show.

I don't remember "If It Will, It Will" at all. Interesting that he followed it with Bocephus' version of "I'll Think of Something", when he'd be playing Mark Chesnutt's version less than a year later.
The rest of these songs, I feel like I haven't heard in ages. It's like most of the 90s has been completely forgotten. I think that's because people still think of "classic country" as being late 80s and prior, due to the marked changes in the genre at the turn of the decade. But these songs are now 25 years old, so I think it's about time we got a format that dusts them off again.

Leading to the 4th of July weekend, this week's show is a new one and features July 2, 2005. This show so far also marks the latest ACC Rewind show to date in terms of available years played (1990-2005).

Boy, they certainly love 1993 do they? That makes it 7 airings of 1993 to date. At least it is a new show - July 10, 1993 to be exact.
