Looks like Capitol is gunning for #1 this week already. From tonight's Country Aircheck Weekly: Luke's a full 4.3 million behind Michael Ray so it'll be tough for KTDU to push ahead, but honestly I hope Luke can pull it off. I can't stand either "Kick The Dust Up" or "Kiss You In The Morning", and I can't stand big label pushes, but Michael's song has been such a non-event that I've been hoping it would stall short of #1. And even though I don't like Luke's song, it's been a MUCH bigger hit, definitely deserving of at least 2 weeks at #1 on the airplay charts. Michael's only chance is to sneak in before Luke, and he probably has the advantage because of his lead. Not to worry though, Luke fans. If Michael is able to hold off Luke this week, I'm confident that KTDU would still be able to follow Michael at #1, as KTDU has only just hit the 40 million mark, and it's only been on the chart for 10 weeks. This one has plenty of room to grow yet. Even if it gains 5-6 million this week, I think it could easily keep gaining for another week or two after that.

This may get to #1 this week because "Strip It Down" is getting a lot of new spins at radio so it could possibly be the follow up single.

It may also be getting those because he's a superstar and it's common for songs from superstar releases to get radio airplay, even as test songs. The next single hasn't been determined yet but "Strip It Down" is definitely a contender.

I am starting to think this may be only a single week #1 for airplay since he is getting such a big push and is now #1 on Mediabase and also tracking #1 for Billboard for this coming week. Capitol Nashville, may want to send out Luke's next single soon as this is declared #1 and move on and get the next single rolling since Luke is so white hot right now and the label knows radio and fans are hungry for new music from Luke so therefore I am thinking this weekend Luke will top both charts giving way to Michael Ray next weekend since Warner Music has eased up on the gas pedal for him as they know they can't stay ahead of this hot song by Luke. I may be wrong but I don't see this staying #1 next week because I think, really think a second single will be announced and it could be "Strip It Down" but again we don't know yet.

He mentioned in Pittsburgh last night that "Strip It Down" would be his next single in a few weeks.

There's another new Luke song on Google Play (probably on other platforms, idk) called "Huntin', Fishin', and Lovin' Every Day". It sounds more country than his latest stuff, but it's definitely your typical, "I'm country and I love it" kind of schlock. It's also posted a few posts up. :)

They'll go 4-5 depending on speed of releases. Doubt they go 6 deep and he won't limit his radio options. They went for 6 on CMP, and all of them did exceptionally well. Going for 6 again isn't out of the question.

Yesss at this steamrolling past Michael Ray. I hope he keeps him out of the top spot. Even though I don't even like this song, it'd be nice to see a big hit not play nice and disrupt this "everybody goes to #1" even just for a week so as to not allow "Kiss You in the Morning" to be a #1 hit.

Either way, it's a battle of the turds, but if one of them HAS to go No.1, I'd rather it be *gulp* "Kick The Dust Up"

Michael is going to have no trouble hitting the top next week. As rbundy suggested this is Luke's final push week. He will easily start falling next week. This way Capitol gets to possibly world premiere a new Luke single in time for Luke's album release while MR gets to have his single at #1 on the airplay charts when his album drops. Both labels benefit from this with regard to airplay exposure to maximize album sales.

What sales figures are you guys expecting for his album next week? I'd say 400K should be easy considering CMP open over 500K.

Congratulations to Luke Bryan on his 15th career #1.
I'm predicting 300k for his new album. The pre-orders iTunes chart position is roughly the same as Aldean's pre-orders last year, and that led to first week sales of 278k. I don't see any signs of this album selling significantly more than Jason's.
Unless Luke pulls a Taylor Swift and bans Spotify (and other streaming sites), I don't see how he could pull off another 500k. I know CMP was available on Spotify, but streaming is a lot more prevalent now (especially with Apple Music streaming being dominant now also). I'm quite surprised Luke/Capitol are embracing streaming so much with this album. He's promoting via Spotify, Apple Music and even Tinder(!). All that streaming would only hurt his album sales. I guess it's a good thing Billboard is using SPS (sales plus streaming) as the official metric for the Billboard 200. But in terms of pure album sales, I expect a size-able decline just like most other established artists.
Also, we really don't know how this weird Friday release schedule throws off these country stars. Except for the GMA performance on Friday, there's not much TV promo for Luke's album. He will have to wait until the latter half of the chart week to get more TV promo opportunities, and that could impact sales. The album sales for Luke is very interesting for the entire music biz. He's the first big mainstream star to release an album in the new world of weird Friday releases and Apple Music streaming further cannibalizing sales. My prediction is that both will impact album sales negatively.

The worst top two singles in Mediabase chart history remain Get Me Some Of That and This Is How We Roll from May of last year, but these two pieces of crap are right behind them, all courtesy of four dismal country artists with marginal to awful singing voices to boot.
How could the best format of the nineties alongside Hit AC and Smooth Jazz as well as the previous decade sink to this level of mush so quickly?

Yesss at this steamrolling past Michael Ray. I hope he keeps him out of the top spot. Even though I don't even like this song, it'd be nice to see a big hit not play nice and disrupt this "everybody goes to #1" even just for a week so as to not allow "Kiss You in the Morning" to be a #1 hit. Michael Ray has pretty much got the #1 in the bag for next weekend. As @daydrinker said, Luke has seen monstrous gains this week, which means he won't be able to sustain these numbers this coming week. Warner Bros. almost certainly knew that Capitol and Luke were gunning for #1 this week...I think it's pretty obvious that they deliberately hit the brakes on "Kiss You In The Morning" as a result of what Capitol was planning to do. I mean, Michael had a lead of 4 million on Billboard at the start of the week. He could have practically coasted to #1, but because they saw the big Luke push coming, they deliberately held Michael back and let Luke leapfrog them. It was smart, because in a head-to-head battle, there's no way Michael Ray would have beat out Luke Bryan. And now, since Luke will likely start falling within the next few days, there won't be anyone left to impede Michael on his natural ascent to #1. Like @daydrinker, I also have a hunch that Capitol will drop Luke's next single either tomorrow or on Tuesday (and it'll probably get iHeartMedia once-an-hour spins). And so I think that's why we saw the big push from Capitol this week -- they just gunned for the #1 a week earlier than what would have been the natural peak week for KTDU. ZBB is probably at least 2 weeks away from peaking, and Frankie Ballard's "Young & Crazy" (another non-event hit) is no threat either, as he's a label-mate to Michael. Luke will easily be #1 on Billboard tomorrow, but I fully expect Michael to be #1 a week from tomorrow. If Luke doesn't drop a 2nd single this week, then maybe they'll try to keep Michael from the top spot, but because of the circumstances (with Luke's album release), I think it's more likely that they'll try to get a 2nd single into the top 30 or possibly close to the top 20 during his album release week. Basically, if Luke didn't have an album out this week, then I think he would have held Michael to a #2 peak. But because of the new album, I think Capitol would rather try to get another single out ASAP than block another artist (especially a newbie) from going #1.

It's pretty obvious that Capitol is gunning to have another iHeartMedia world premiere with the second single (like they did with "That's My Kind Of Night") and I'm almost positive it will be either tomorrow or Tuesday (most likely the latter).
This push was so perfect for both Warner and Capitol to have both songs peak during the album drop dates and both will greatly benefit like @daydrinker mentioned.
At the very least we get "Kick The Dust Up" to get up, up out of here and off heavy rotation as quickly as possible, which is the ultimate silver lining.

I can't remember the last time one of the biggest hits of the year spent so little time in the top 5. What I don't understand is why Luke's label came out with an album release so soon if they were insistent on getting a second single out before the album dropped. If they would have chosen the last weekend of August or first week of September, say around Labor Day weekend, then Michael Ray could have gotten to #1 this week, and Luke could have gotten 2 weeks at the top without much contention. In that scenario, Luke gets 2 more weeks of high rotation airplay that he won't get now plus 2 extra weeks of great digital sales. Then they still would have had some time to get the second single out without it being so rushed. Anyway, that's my two cents. Hopefully the second single will be more serious/mature in it's content. This song is decent fluff, but nothing more, and even pales in comparison to his other fluff songs. I mean "Drunk On You" and "That's My Kind of Night" were no masterpieces by any means, but they were instantly catchy and filled with more charm IMO. Luke is definitely better than this, and he had much better and mature songs on his Spring Break album, go figure.

Was just on Luke's Facebook page and noticed if you go down quite a bit a few hours ago, you will see some posts from a Radio station 92.3 WCOL saying they are playing or premiering Luke's new single "Strip It Down"!!! And this is TODAY!!!!
92.3 WCOL 3 hrs · Get ready for the NEW Luke Bryan single Strip It Down coming up in minutes!!!!!
I won't make a thread for this yet as this is not enough confirmation as this is just one station but ya it's already getting adds at some other stations as well but I am thinking "Strip It Down" is the next single as Luke said it would be at a concert according to one of earlier posts above.
