I'm assuming this isn't available on the pre-order yet (haven't checked)? I didn't care too much for "Long Way Down", but I'm still interested in this for some reason. Now available to pre-order in the US on iTunes I was talking about the song being available.

I always thought the label "Post-Grunge" was lame and I dislike when I see Hard Rock being labled as post-grunge. Makes Grunge sound more important than it really was? I feel the same way when I see STP called grunge. They weren't even from Washington. Anyway,I heard 0% grunge in Nickelback, Hinder, Shindown, Saving Abel ect.. All those bands are inspired by bands, like AC/DC, Boston(southern Rock), Aerosmith, etc.., not Nirvana, Sound Garden ect.. Also none from Washington; where grunge; which was actually a musical movemnet started. So why the hell, where they labeled; Post-Grunge to begin with? made no sense; other then an excuse for Alt radio to play their music. That's my beef for today. Have you ever heard Nickelback's Curb album? It's Canada's answer to Pearl Jam. Nickelback didn't really have any classic rock influence until Dark Horse. I thought I had posted this on general Rock discussion before it became a rant. My apologies. Curb did sound grungy, but everything after that was rock. They sounded more inclined to Southern Rock then they ever did Grunge, that's why I concidered Post-Grunge a stupid name for a genre. I also wasn't just specifying Nickelback. Alot of bands got dismissed as Post -Grunge. I've even seen Matchbox Twenty and Creed with that tag , which is what happens when poeple are mucically ignorant.

I like that a lot. I still think I prefer Long Way Down, but I think this will grow on me.

Another good one. This sounds like a megahit, something I think will outperform "Long Way Down". This has crossover potential with a shortened intro.

I got sick of "Long Way Down" quickly, but this one is much better. I think I can deal with it long-term if it happens to have similar success.

I like the chorus a lot. This one should be a grower for me.

This is way more catchier than "long Way Down" was. The guy is talented. Like the Thomas Dolbey or Howard Jones of the 2010s . I love the 80s percussion effects. Gonna grab this one and give it some test runs.

Holy crap...yeah this song is arguably one of the most different\best new songs of the year. I can't wait to watch this shoot up the charts, and honestly, I'm not surprised this dude is doing it. It took a while for "Long Way Down" to click because it was quite different, and I remember thinking after that started to fade out, "going to be real interesting to see what this guy puts together to sell a new album on, because it's going to be his best stuff", and sure enough, here you go. Between this guy and Future Islands, I think we are looking at a new era\darker sound to take off on alternative, and I'm good with that.
Alternative: #1 (September, will be competing with Coleman Hell) CHR\POP: Top 5 (Late October\November) Hot AC: Top 3 CHR\Rhy: Top 10
Can't wait to watch this go, wow, this song is GREAT.

I have a feeling this is going to smash alongside Renegades and Tear In My Heart (and hopefully My Type) on CHR later this year. I'm disappointed Long Way Down barely scraped the top 100 there, though.

I would predict out of those:
Renegades: #11-#15 (too many songs sound like it, it's too slow for pop) Tear In My Heart: #31 (very extreme as in people either love or hate, plus the whole Christian aspect...I don't know) My Type: No idea, I love this song too, I could see it hitting in the 20's next Spring or something
Long Way Down was just too different of a song to make an impact. This one is too good too pass up.

How is Nickelback more alternative than the other artists mentioned?.... I was clearly joking lol Nickelback are on the all-time alternative list mostly because of the huge success of "How You Remind Me" in 2001, where it spent 13 weeks at #1 and became the 11th biggest alternative hit of all time. The list can be found here: I know this post is two weeks too late, but I just wanted to weigh in here that almost every radio format is fluid with time - in 2001, Nickelback was Alternative, Jewel was Hot AC, Phil Collins was AC, and Matchbox Twenty was CHR IMO it's basically meaningless to talk about the biggest Alternative hits of all time, just like it's meaningless to talk about the biggest Hot AC hits of all time, or the biggest CHR hits of all time, since the music that's played on one format one decade often ends up on a completely different format the next decade

I love this. It's not quite as good as "Global Concepts" but it's way better than "Long Way Down". I'd love to see it become a hit on both Alternative and CHR. I'm looking forward to his album!

Actually they are barely scraping that HOT AC chart nowadays, unless they add a dose of EDM or autotune to their music.

Owl City hit the top 10 on Pop just three years ago (the songs lyrics weren't necessarily related to Christianity, but neither are this song's). I think it can pull a top 5 peak. I'm sort of surprised this isn't top 50 here yet.

There were people I know who thought "Take Me To Church" was a pro-religion song.

Wow! That audience probly thought they entered a time machine back to the 80s.He uses the same instrument gadget he does in the video for the song. The steering wheel is great. I can see greats like Thomas Dolbey, Gary Numan, and Greg Hawks of the Cars, all wanting a set of their own.

Such a great 80's throwback kind of song! Never thought I would love another single from this guy, "Long Way Down" took me ages to click on it which explains the longevity on Alternative chart. This on the other hand instantly becomes my favorite.

Damn, this is catchy as hell! I've liked everything he's released well enough, but this is the first one that makes me want to go out of my way to listen to it. Only complaint is that things seem a little too busy at times, but that's minor and overall this is ace.

Giving it two weeks before it starts dominating. It's just...totally different than anything that's currently out there, oh, and catchy as hell too. It reminds me a lot of "Send Me An Angel" from the 80's.
I know I give $h!t to Atlas Genius, but when you compare the two as far as "cutting edge", it's laughable, although I like that song, just trash it for being so typical to indie-elctronic.
