1. Wanted more for Adam but it's not surprising. Hopefully "Ghost Town" or a 2nd single becomes a hit. 2. Maybe Nate Reuss should have made this a fun. album. 3. Impressive for Ryn Weaver when you compare to Charli XCX, Tove Lo, etc.

I was legit expecting Hilary to get like 5-10k so I'm happy to see those numbers. As much as RCA fucked up the single rollout, she's been doing a fair amount of promo and it was a really good call to not release a pre-order. I'm also glad Adam is the second highest debut.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6598420/james-taylor-first-number-1-album-billboard-200James Taylor Heading for His First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200By Keith Caulfield | June 17, 2015 9:15 PM EDT Forty-five years after debuting on the Billboard 200 chart, James Taylor is set for his first No. 1 album. Industry forecasters suggest the singer/songwriter’s new studio effort, Before This World, could earn around 75,000 equivalent album units in the week ending June 21. The album is his first studio set since 2002’s October Road. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Billboard 200’s top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, June 24. Taylor has previously logged 11 top 10 albums, including seven top five efforts. His highest charting set thus far is 1971’s Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon, which four weeks at No. 2 behind Carole King’s Tapestry album. (Taylor and King would later collaborate for the 2010 set Live at the Troubadour, which reached No. 4.) Other albums on course for significant debuts include Adam Lambert’s The Original High (which could do 35,000), Hilary Duff’s Breathe In. Breathe Out. (25,000) and Nate Ruess’ Grand Romantic (25,000).

I want to say that's a bad opening for Nate, but is it that horrendous given the complete cold shoulder to the material so far?

Hilary's sales are a lot better than I was expecting, considering she hasn't released an album in over 8 years and none of her recent singles have done anything. I'm happy for her.

That's great for James Taylor, and I'm happy to see Third Eye Blind looking likely for the top ten.

I'm happy for James Taylor. To score your first ever #1 album nearly five decades into your career is kind of a big deal. With fairly good numbers too.

Awesome for James Taylor. I am actually impressed by Hilary too. It has been nearly a decade since she was last relevant and none of her singles have hit at all. I was expecting VERY low numbers. Wonder what she would have done if radio had played Sparks.

Wonder what she would have done if radio had played Sparks. Came to say the same thing. I really thought her and Adam would be treading around the 20K mark given the fact that neither one of them has had a hit (especially Hilary) in quite some time. Good for them and for James Taylor!

X is going to celebrate it's 52nd week in the chart in top 5! The last album to do so is Adele's 21 3 years ago Btw, if no album could top 50k in SPS next week, 1989 might return to #1 :O

Don't venture into this thread often, but damn are these numbers abysmal. At any rate, congrats James. These legacy acts are really benefiting from low sales numbers these days, which is good I guess for them. Hope to see Adam's album have some longevity.

Industry forecasters suggest the album, which was released June 16 on Warner Bros. Records, could move around 35,000 equivalent album units in the week ending June 21. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The chart’s new top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, June 25. The Original High is Lambert’s first album for Warner Bros. after departing RCA Records, where he logged his two earlier top 10s: His For Your Entertainment debut in 2009 (No. 3 debut and peak) and its follow-up, the No. 1-bowing Trespassing in 2012. Meanwhile, veteran singer/songwriter James Taylor is heading for his first No. 1 album on next week’s chart, as his Before This World could debut with around 75,000 units. Taylor has previously logged 11 top 10 albums in his 45-year chart career. Other albums on course for significant debuts include Hilary Duff’s Breathe In. Breathe Out. and Nate Ruess’ Grand Romantic (both with around 25,000).

Nate Reuss' album might get adjusted up since it's starting to pick up in sales now (I don't know why though). It jumped from #5 to #1 on iTunes.

I hope Nate's numbers got adjusted. His music is good, and he has many fans - not necessarily rabid ones, but willing to buy whatever he releases. I am one of such fans.

Hi, this is my first post besides my introduction!
Wasn't Taylor Swift named after James Taylor? I find it cool that they'll occupy the top two spots on the Billboard 200, with the person at No.2 being named after the person at No.1.
