"Letter To Me" is #1 on the Real Time Tracker right now. Hopefully it can stay there. Still #1 on the Real Time Tracker, and it should easily cruise to the top this week with both Montgomery Gentry and Rascal Flatts slightly down in audience for the week. If it does get to #1 this week, it would tie "He Didn't Have To Be" for Brad's fastest rising #1 single (15 weeks). Could we have back-to-back #1 singles stay on top for 6+ weeks?

Brad Paisley has another #1 hitNew daddy Brad Paisley has his sixth consecutive #1 hit on Billboard. The third single from his latest studio album 5th Gear is at #1 after 15 weeks on the chart. Paisley has nine #1's on Billboard. His streak of six consecutive #1s ties Toby Keith for most consecutive #1s by a male in this decade. The video for the song was filmed in and around Paisley's hometown of Glen Dale, WV. The single also went #1 in Canada. 5th Gear is certified Gold. Paisley is headlining his "Bonfires and Amplifiers" tour with Rodney Atkins and Chuck Wicks. -- Country On-Demand

PLEASE tell me that this song is going to keep Rascal Flatts from hitting #1. PLEASE, Please, PLEASE!!!! That would make my month, I'm telling you. I hate that Rascal Flatts gets an automatic #1 song just because of who they are, and not the quality of the song. I can not STAND their current song, and Brad's is not one my favorites, but it is certainly better than the RF tune. Have a nice day.

Well Brad seems to be getting an automatic pass to #1 these days with 6 in a row now including the awful "Ticks" and novelty song "Online". You may not like "Winner" but many others love it. This unfortunately looks like it will end up blocking Rascal Flatts from #1 so it looks like you'll get your wish.

Yes, it looks like I'll get "my wish" after all. I completely agree with you about Brad's last few tunes. Not his best work, but popular nonetheless. Too bad " Stay" didn't get at least a week at #1. Have a nice day.

I don't see why because an artist is so popular and has a Christmas song chart that that should ruin their streaks of number ones. The label didn't ask for Christmas songs/album tracks to chart, they aren't officially released, and it would be a hinderance for big-name artists like Brad Paisley to have their number-one streaks reset every time Christmas comes around or they release a new CD.
Also, creating a new chart for just a couple weeks a year doesn't make much sense IMHO.

Just clarifying. :) I loved "Ticks" and "Online"; they're far more "Country" than RF will ever be. If you want to talk about "novelty", lets talk about "Take Me There." At least Brad tries to be new and original, meanwhile RF talks about the same old bland, boring topics they always have talked about. Not to mention, the actual song, not just it's topic, sucked as well.

When artists and their labels release songs and try to promote them, we have some measure of their popularity. So counting only the songs that are officially released makes sense to me. Artists and labels can't control what happens to Christmas songs, album tracks, movie songs, etc. so counting those songs isn't really a measure of the artists' popularity. It's not RF's "fault" that radio stations played Life Is a Highway. It's not Kenny Chesney's "fault" that his CD releases generate airplay for various album tracks. If the rule were changed as you suggest, I can imagine the silliness already -- people who dislike an artist hitting the phones, requesting album tracks on big-city stations, trying to get a song to reach #60 in order to break somebody's streak of #1 songs. Stranger things have happened, and that's why Billboard follows the method that it does.

Guys, this song is so awesome!!! It fits perfectly for me, I'm 18 and I've just broken up with someone I thought I would spend my WHOLE life with, it's hurting so bad, so I listened to this song and cried a little bit... Guess it did me some good! I know I'll get over it eventually, but it's sooooo hard! :'(

So you want artists who don't want streaks broken to not record holiday albums? If a holiday song peaks in the 50s, that's not much publicity - that might translate to 20-30 spins, which is pretty much nothing. Most holiday albums do not rely predominantly on radio play to boost sales. b. If a song is among the most 60 played current songs, why shouldn't it chart? I think Billboard would lose credibility if they took this suggesting. I think these are some pretty extreme propositions. If a song isn't officially released then it has no chance to go #1, so why should a song that charts for one week and accumulates 20-30 spins break a streak of #1 singles?

I don't think we'll get any news on the next single anytime soon since "Letter To Me" could still be #1 for another 2-4 weeks. I'm hoping for "All I Wanted Was A Car," "I'm Still A Guy," or "Some Mistakes." Any of those three would make me happy.

"I'm Still A Guy" wouldnt be a bad choice, if it cant be "Oh Love" it should be that. those are really the only two i would be happy with. i wouldnt be upset about "All I Wanted Was A Car" or "Better Than This" but everything else pretty much would make me very upset

I love "Oh Love" but it's not a good fit for radio (and I don't think that's a bad thing). "I'm Still a Guy" is a very funny song but I would be a little surprised if Brad went for a 3rd humorous track from 5th Gear for the next single. I think "All I Wanted Was a Car" would be the perfect choice for single #4.

Anything BUT 'Oh Love'. PLEASE! We don't need more Carrie on the radio.
I'd be satisfied with 'I'm Still A Guy' or 'It Did', which are only two out of a small handful of tunes I like from this album. But I've already discussed this before. ... I can't wait for a new album.

Has that ever been done before?

I think they'll release another two singles from 5th Gear, and then put a new studio album out early next year.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see GH CDs this year from both Paisley and Kenny Chesney; it would certainly make sense for Paisley because he's due for one, although '5th Gear' is still stocked with more potential hit singles.
Chesney is in a different predicament altogether, because the first two singles from his current CD scorched the charts to the point where, given his penchant for long and enormous tours, he'll either have to release six singles from 'P&P', or two more singles from 'P&P' followed by a new single in the fall and a GH CD sometime before Christmas.

I think Oh Love will be the fifth single, and the next one will be another upbeat. Not sure what song to suggest though.

After "Time well wasted', Brad's next cd wa to be a Greatest hits. He talked the label into doing one more cd, which leads me to believe his next release will be Greatest hits.

He talked the label into doing one more cd, which leads me to believe his next release will be Greatest hits. country102 is right, after "Time Well Wasted", brad was supposed to release a GH album but something happened and they decided to release one more studio album before the GH album. Brad also stated right before "Ticks" was released that he really wanted "Waitin' On A Woman" from "TWW" to be released as a single but there just wasnt time to release it now. He said that this song will definitely be on his GH album and will be released as a single then. So i think "Oh Love" and "I'm Still A Guy" will be released and then go into a leadoff single from GH (which shouldnt be "WOAW", that should be single #2)

Or maybe Brad will pull a Keith Urban and a George Strait and release another single from '5th Gear' and put it on a GH album in the middle of its chart run.
