Slinger In The Band: Arista's Brad Paisley has been added as a Grammy performer and has been asked to play his hit "Ticks." In other news, Brad Paisley is taking a bold step. He's making an instrumental album. Brad is widely regarded as one of country music's best guitar-playing artists, and he's up for a country instrumental Grammy for "Throttleneck," as well as country album of the year and country collaboration. He winds up a highly successful headlining tour next month, and he's already begun looking ahead to his next project.
"We're going to work mostly on an instrumental album," he says. "Joe (Galante) is letting me go in and do one of those."
Brad recalls a conversation he had a few months ago with Joe, who is chairman of Sony BMG Nashville. "I said, 'Can I do an instrumental album?' And he said, 'Yeah, I think that would be good.'
"I told him, 'You know, it probably won't sell anything.' He said, 'That's OK.' " (That doesn't sound like the Joe I know, but then again, he is full of surprises.)
"It's a chance to finally do an album that I've always wanted to do," Brad adds. "I'll have some collaborations and some guests and do some guitar stuff. We can be as wacky as we want to be without finding those songs that need to be commercial."

>Well this song been knocked out of the top spot on Mediabase. I wonder if it can rebound >and take the top spot back.
Well, that didn't take very long. It should be interesting to see what happens the rest of the week.
