Whether or not this goes top 10, I feel like there's little momentum for David going forward. His second singles in the past haven't been anywhere close to as big of a hit as the lead single (counting "Red Light" as the lead single from his debut even though it really wasn't): Turning Home (20), The Sound of a Million Dreams (38), Kiss You Tonight (17). I'm hoping that the second single can be something that will do better than "Night's On Fire" has done for David.

MCA Nashville is prepared for their final push for "Night's On Fire" as this ad was in Country Aircheck today. No surprise. I predicted this was likely to happen. Push the song through the album release date then let go of it. Once a song gets to 50 weeks, it's very difficult to keep it alive.

I'd love it if they could somehow eke out a top 10 peak for this one, but I just don't see it. David's at #14 on Billboard right now...with a big enough push, he could probably re-pass Justin Moore and Kelsea Ballerini for one week, and I think he'll pass the plummeting "Noise" before the week is over as well. But that's only a +3 move which would get him to #11 at best.
Maybe if they pushed for one more week beyond this week, but even then there are no guarantees. Kelsea and Justin and others no doubt want to get into the top 10 just as much as David does. They might play nice for one week but I doubt they'd do it for multiple weeks.

Yeah, if they did push for two more weeks, I don't see "Night's On Fire" staying ahead of "Peter Pan" for both of those weeks. One week sure, but I doubt MCA could keep it ahead of a song with that much momentum for two weeks. I think his best shot at a top 10 finish is also, somehow, passing Sam Hunt this week too, but I don't think that is likely at all.

I would be thrilled if this could sneak into the Top 10 somehow, but I'll be pretty damn pleased with a #11 peak, which would still put it among his best-charting singles, so if that's the best case scenario, I'll be happy with it. Either way, can't wait for his album this Friday!

You know for a song that is having a final spins week. "Nights On Fire" isn't lighting much of a fire. David Nail has gained about 150k the past 3 days. Compared to the competition around it, David isn't looking good. Kelsea Ballerini's "Peter Pan" has gained 1.4 million in audience, while Justin Moore has remained basically flat (gain of just 30k so far this week), David Nail is not making much of an effort to pass anyone.

Eh, if this peaks at #14 instead of #11 or so, it won't change anything. It looked like it would've taken a pretty impossible push to make the Top 10 so maybe they weren't too concerned with passing anything since if it can't make the Top 10, it's not like there's any new milestone to reach. It'll be a Top 15 hit either way.
I can't wait to see what he gives radio next (I'm soooo ready for them to move on, as I'm sure radio and most others are as well, lol) and to spin the f**k out of his new album tomorrow. <33

In fact, for songs like this (ones that have been charting forever), I am really not surprised to see them lose audience in their push week. If I'm a station and they've been promoting the song for almost a year, I may see that and think "okay well they're basically done with this so I can back off" instead of increasing spins for the final week.

I see your thought process but the incentive is that they won't have to have the song in regular rotation past that "push week." That and the fact the promotion folks are friends with these programmers...that's why most of the time these push weeks work. In David's case, the song is just so old that radio can't fathom any further airplay -- 50 weeks is too great. Same thing with "Outta My Head" and "Love Like Crazy"...those songs were just as old (older even) and they both just simply hit empty in the gas tank. 50 weeks seems to be the magic number nowadays for even the most accommodating programmers to be skeptical with increased airplay.

The album is out on iTunes now, and damn is it good as a piece of art. But it is not however, a singles friendly album. I'm struggling to find a hit song on here. I'd say for single #2 they should consider "Lie With Me" (yes, the Lady Antebellum song they were too stupid to release) or "Ease Your Pain". This is assuming that the Brothers Osborne duet won't even be considered though, which wouldn't seem like a smart idea from the Brothers perspective, since they have their own current battle with "21 Summer".

This album reminds me of Kip's latest. An amazing album, but like dm2081 stated, I am having a hard time hearing singles. But damn, what a good album this is, after only just one listen.

This will be a contender for most underrated album of the year, as I'm sure it won't get much recognition. I know I won't be able to get enough of it.
Good at Tonight has to be the radio hit off album, only other one I can see is champagne promise, and that's a bit of a stretch. Actually I can see Got me Gone as a candidate too, basically the songs he released early are most radio friendly ones.

Champagne Promise is amazing. Gosh I'd love to see him go for it and release that to radio. Beautiful song.

"Lie with Me" sounds like a single to me and I'd suggest it's the leading contender for the follow-up to "Nights on Fire." For me, "Home" (w/ Lori McKenna) is the standout track and would like them to give it to radio to see what they do with it. "Good at Tonight" is just fantastic, but I can't see them releasing a duet with Brothers Osborne right now.
I'm going to have to give Fighter a couple more listens, but I will say it hasn't grabbed me the way his previous albums have. I agree with the posts above that I don't really hear a lot of single/radio material here and doubt we'll see much radio success from it.
I've seen David quite a times in concert that I feel like I'm already familiar with the vibe of the album, but it is great to finally hear the title track "Fighter" on record. I think I first heard him sing it well over a year ago already.

I'm listening to previews now, and this sounds outstanding. Off of previews, "Lie With Me" and "Fighter" are my favorites. I will get around to listening to this when I can.

After Frankie Ballard's tune had the plug pulled on it earlier this week I agree that this tune should be pulled as well since they've both been stuck on CT40 for three straight weeks.

MCA Nashville's been running their ad in Aircheck this week, requesting "Max Spins", so the bottom should collapse on this one after the weekend. They were keeping it alive through the album drop date.

This got a grace week, as it lost AI and spins but hung on to #14. Not exactly a great showing for a "Max Spins" week. I'm expecting major losses, starting tomorrow.

Lost 188 spins and 1271k audience today. After a 50 week run, this is done.

They should have already at least announced a new single. Good At Tonight should be the pick.

Yeah, I'm hoping there's an announcement soon. I still haven't checked his album out, but the previews sounded good.
