What's most funny or sad depending on how you look at it. About a year ago The Band Perry won a Grammy for the very first time. Now there career is in major jeopardy to say the very least. Literally everything that could have gone wrong did.

Well, this should be interesting.
I think they really backed themselves into a corner, though. Had they just released the song and it flopped, I would think the damage could have been more manageable and they would have been able to explain away the momentary lapse of judgment. However, they performed even poppier, more shallow songs on tour and dug their heels in with their defense of this new style and how it was still country because of some lame three part harmony excuse. They can't pass this off on label greed because of their own staunch defense of the transition. Maybe they just admit they F*ed up and see if the country audience is forgiving.
For me, their credibility is shattered. I don't know what's authentically The Band Perry. So it will definitely be interesting to see how they begin to address this strange situation.

The video is back on youtube and song is back on itunes... was this all a PR stunt? Something for attention? I'm still going to see what they have to say... but this was all stupid.

This morning it was pulled from all iTunes world-wide... and it's back on now! One thing changed, though: the iTunes song identifier, formerly 1027167137, now reads as 1084007147

Given that "Live Forever" is posted as (C) The Band Perry now on iTunes, It's probably safe to say the trio HAS parted with Big Machine Records over their direction and it's even possible they were the act that Scott was talking about (the one's failing to listen to him).

He said in a media report that some acts were stubborn about some things and that if they're like that, they'll likely be more inclined to fail (or something like that as I'm paraphrasing). There are others who have access to the specific quotes for this. It's also still ENTIRELY possible the band bought back just this single because the fans were 'angry' about it going away. Who really knows until someone says something.

Shouldn't be a surprise given that this group was silent after the delay of the upcoming album. They weren't in the Republic Nashville ad this past week...the week of CRS. They pulled "Live Forever" from all musical platforms, along with pulling new material like "Put Me In The Game Coach" from YouTube. Then the Big Machine credit being taken off "Live Forever" when they released the song back to the public confirms they parted ways with Big Machine Label Group.
The release of "Live Forever" and this new musical direction cost them, dearly.

I'm stunned so much by this. The Band Perry really committed career suicide. You know while I still lambasted when Danielle Bradbery and Eli Young Band released their rather non country songs at least both will probably make it out cause they listened to Big Machine. The Band Perry didn't.
If someone would have told me that both Scotty McCreery and The Band Perry would be dropped from their label before Lauren Alaina I would have said they were crazy like wow to all of this!
I hope the best and will remember their songs but man how does a group go from winning a Grammy Award to parting ways with a label in less than a year that's just astonishing.

Musing aloud, but I'm wondering if, if the discussion is going to move towards a general band discussion once again, then maybe it'd be worth taking up Dudley's suggestion on the previous page and moving to a general artist thread (either in Artist Discussion or in Country News & Non-Singles). In any case, I'm not sure that keeping this thread going will be the way to go.
